The backpack handled loads of 30 pounds without trouble, and stripped down for climbing with ease. It's just the perfect shape for carrying gear in my eyes. [ I ’ ve had this for a few weeks now. I love that it fits my 60m rope, draws, three pairs of shoes, harness, and any other misc gear. Very comfortable with the waist straps. [ A simple, rock- centric piece of equipment. The size is perfect for a day of cragging or multi pitch routes. The shape and design make it super easy to load and unload. It's streamlined without all the fussy straps and buckles that typically get hung up in tight approaches or hauling. No ice axe loops either, this is a pure rock pack. I like that the main compartment is accessed with only one top zipper... there's no reason to have a zillion ways to get inside a 40L bag. I can load it with a large rack and webbing, a rope, water bottle and jacket with room to spare. It feels solid on my back, and carries great. The top compartment is roomy, and also accessible with a single zipper, and there is a realistically- sized zippered pocket for iPhone and/or keys. The waterproof outer material seems bomber, and built like a tank, except for the webbing strap on the waist belt which seems a bit thin, but no big deal. The waist belt itself is sturdy enough and includes small gear loops on each hip. The included mini tarp is a thoughtful touch, though I personally wish it were larger. Outside mesh pockets for shoes and chalk bag are a nice convenience. There are other similar packs out there, but this one was a big bang for the buck. Lastly, it's cool looking, I get compliments all the time.

[ I bought this pack not too long ago and have only taken it out once, but I have no complaints so far. The material and build quality seem to be durable. In my pack I can fit my shoes( on the outside), harness, a 70m rope, belay devices, anchor materials, and a helmet with some room to spare. I can also put smaller items( keys and phone) in the large brain on top of the pack. I would assume if you fully optimized space, you could additionally put clothes on the bottom of your pack or add draws. I also love how this pack can transfer the weight onto your hips and really support whatever you packed. Overall, I 'm really happy with my purchase!

I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

As an ultralight Backpacker, I leave my honest review here. First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

This backpack is very big and sturdy and it can definitely hold a lot of whatever you need. I like that is has additional smaller pockets on the handles and straps to keep small things like wallets, cash, or cards dry and separate from the rest of the items you 're holding. the arm and waist straps are seemingly strong and easy to adjust to proper fit, and they hold the pack in place very securely. It's also nice looking and the easy to remove/attach waterproof cover is an additional plus.

This is a lightweight backpack that I feel is a good balance of capacity and comfort. Lightweight but durable fabric. It has buckles that can keep the backpack more compact, or unclipped, can expand to the full size. Has many pockets and comes with a rain shield in a bottom pocket to cover the whole backpack in the rain. The chest and waist clips to secure the backpack are comfortable too. This backpack also has a central zipper down the middle which would help you reach anything inside easily, even in the bottom of the pack.

Haven ’ t used it yet but in theory, this should be a Great pack and possibly the lightest per volume pack made other than skimo packs. Also, this pack can carry fat skis. My Volkl Shiro ’s that are 151 in the tip and 129 in the tail can fit in either the a frame or diagonal cary. Plus the internal Velcro pocket is wide enough to fit a DK impact spine protector.

I 've used this pack for a year now. It is my daily commuting pack for biking, running, or skiing to work year round in Anchorage. I also use this pack regularly for scrambling and climbing in the Chugach as well. The build quality is excellent and despite having probably 340- 350 user days it shows no significant signs of wear. It will bounce a little with running when I have more than 10 pounds or so in it, but this is minimal and manageable. Holds enough gear for a layer, foul weather gear, and some minimal technical gear for a day in the mountains. The water bottle pockets in the front fit a can of bear spray nicely, especially appreciated when negotiating dense alder thickets in bear country. Highly recommended!

The Large size Betalight45 fits me very well. The shoulder straps are comfortable with a loaded pack and the hip belt sits properly to take some weight. I 'm 6'3 '', 180lbs, my torso is 21. 5- 22 '' according to BD instructions. I measured the actual volume of the main bag to be 46L and still able to roll closed. Side/back pockets will be additional capacity.

A bundle of cleverly stitchless fabric and features. My beloved prev generation Distance 15 was( un) fortunately lifted off me last month. Was grateful when 22 came back in stock, and super stoked with the reconfiguration of how the straps attach to the pack, and how the pockets have been set up. Work MUCH better! A leeetle disappointed that the way the pack opens was not really addressed-- they just made the opening loop a brighter colour. Too often I grab the pack by the stretchy closure instead of the loop, so I worry for longevity of the elastic. Why not attach the elastic+ hook to the lid side, and incorporate the handle into the lid opening mechanism? Grab, unhook, pull- to- open in one motion, and wo n't accidentally grab the loose elastic of an open bag. While you 're at it, maybe swap the stretchy inside zippered pocket and use something woven and non- stretchy, for durability.:)

I ’ m really happy about this pack. I ’ m 5 ’ 9 ’ ’ slender and chose a medium, which I ’ m happy with. I use it for long days in the alpine including hiking, scrambling, and easier alpine climbing. I sometimes run on my way down hill and this works good for that option. I usually carry extra shoes( running or approach), layers and day trip essentials. I ’ ve maxed it out once with basics for an alpine climbing day trip with a simple trad rack, harness, rope, helmet, and the rest. It did all right. The pole side storage works well but I only use pole with a large heavy pack, so not very useful for me. And those compartments are a bit too small to fit other things such as shoes which would have been great if it did. I ’ ve used it only about 5 times so far but very happy about it and I highly recommend this vest style of daypack. We ’ ll see in 5 years how it is durability wise.

This backpack is well proportioned and has all of the right amount of pockets for storage of all sizes of items for your journey. It is also comfortable to wear which is a must. My only complaints are two minor things. First, the bottom zipper where the sleeping bag goes can get stuck easily on the zipper guard/overhang. Second, the padding on the waistline can soak up a lot of sweat. But overall a great backpack and looks cool too. I will keep it for years to come.

I bought this bag to use on a weekend hike on the AT with my thru hiking son. The bag served it ’s purpose. I was able to carry everything I needed easily in the main compartment and brain. The zip pockets on the outside are pretty useless once the main compartment is filled. Same with the water bladder. I did not use it. For the money though it ’s a good bag. It was comfortable on two 10 mile days from McAfee Knob trailhead to Daleville, VA. My torso measurement was 18 and I used the small setting on the adjuster. I tried the medium setting but the shoulder straps did not lay correctly on my back.

The price point allows hikers on a budget to get a great pack for their money. I 'm 6'0, 200lbs and felt the pack was very comfortable while traversing the trails with loads in the 20lb range. When I took the pack out of the box for the first time, I was amazed at just how light it was. This is a fantastic pack option for light and medium weighted loads. I 've hiked with several different high- end packs over the years with loads up to 120lbs. I did n't know what to expect out of this Gregory pack when I received it. I think it's an amazing value, especially for the packs weight. Even though the pack felt light to me, it appears very well made and nothing was designed in a cheap way….. just durable and efficient. This is a great pack for day hikes and backpacking. I could see myself utilizing this pack for up to 3- 4 day trips. The only reason for the limitation is that I probably would want to take more than 50lbs in it for an extended trip. That being said, I have n't tried carrying loads in it over 50lbs, so I ca n't tell you exactly how it would preform. The belt, shoulder straps and back are very breathable and do a good job venting heat away from your body. The zippers and clips all functioned well. Usually light packs lack support, but I was rocking up to 40 lbs. with no issues on rolling desert hills in SE NM. The sizing guide online was spot on, which is always a worry of mine. Access to gear is excellent with openings on the bottom, side and top. NO useless design full of gimmicky pockets either, which I love the simplicity but well though out flow of the pack. The material seems durable and has held up in the rough, everything- is- sharp, desert country I have been using it in. Literally hiked with my two year old, 32 lbs. nephew in it and with him wiggling around the pack still road great!( no kids were injured in this testing). I have not had a pack I have been this excited about in years. Great pack for the beginner and expert. I can not recommend this pack more. If I had one small complaint it is that my older inReach is too big for the pocket on the shoulder strap... maybe I need to upgrade that more than the pack has an issue. Seriously if you are looking for a first or new pack, get this one! Tightens down for day hikes but big enough for longer backpacking trips as well. Buy this pack!

[ Over the past few weeks I have had the chance to test this product hiking through Utah. I loved the fit of this backpack. I have very narrow shoulders and a small waist( 29 inch) and this bag fit like a glove. The straps all had pently of room for adjustment which I appreciate in a bag. The back was extremely breathable and the shoulder straps had ample padding. The bag has all the features I typically look for in a pack such as a brain with top and bottom pockets, pockets on the waist belt, and a mesh outer pocket for quick storage. I found the side access zipper to be very useful and used it many time to reach gear deep in my bag. My only critique is the system for attaching the brain to the main compartment. It came undone when I tried to adjust it the first time and I can not for the life of me figure out how to resecure it so the brain does n't flop everywhere when open. Other than that I think this might be my new favorite bag and an excellent addition to my backpack quiver.

We bought this for my son as we got more into backpacking. This pack is versatile and handles his gear nicely. It isn ’ t unusual for him to strap the sleeping pad to the bottom of the pack. We use light gear, but definitely not all ultralight ultra compact gear. Durability is not a concern. I have a larger 80L pack and am considering getting this same pack for a more compact carry. I would say this pack could fit the bill for beginners and advanced users alike.

I did n't understand the significance of a female- specific pack until I got this one-- I had been using a 75L+ unisex/ male pack for 10+ years and it always felt just a little off. The first time putting this one on, fully loaded, for a 5 day backpacking trip, I realized what a game- changer it was. Originally I was concerned going down in size by 5L, but all the pockets and stash points make up for it. It packs much better than my previous pack and the weight is distributed better and sits on my hips more comfortably. Definitely recommend!

Just got this pack as a replacement for my very old and trusted Arial 75. Despite being a guy I got the women's as my last one was a women's and it fit me so well. I am 5'7 '' '' and 155#. [ I bought this bag a few weeks ago and have been able to take it to a few crag sessions. So far, the bag has performed great! I have been able to fit all of my gear, rope, water, clothes and lunch with ease. Solid outer construction looks like it will stand up to a beating but have not been able to test that yet. A nice feature is that it stands upright independently which makes loading it easier. The shoulder straps and waist strap are also pretty confortable, more so than I was expecting for the type of bag this is. Not quite as comfortable as my backpacking pack, but I would n't expect this from the collapsible and stowable straps. Overall, I am very happy with this bag and would recommend it to someone looking for a good crag bag. Probably a little small for a big wall but honestly have not tried it for that.

The only downside is the bottom set of compression straps on the side are permanently fixed( would be nice if they were clipped like the top set so they could be used to really tighten a rope down for long approaches). Great backpack! I shopped around a lot for daily use/ hiking/ travel backpack and bought and returned several other brands. The Mente 32L is perfect for daily use and travel. The laptop sleeve is excellent for a 14 '' wide laptop and would hold one slightly larger just fine. It had a good variety of pockets for organization but does n't overdo the options. Highly recommend this bag. Especially when on sale, this ca n't be beat.

I am a lover of bags, and a carrier of way too many things, so when I was looking for a new backpack, I knew it had to be spacious, keep me organized, and be able to handle a variety of needs. While I am still in the first few weeks of owning my new Mente 32L daypack, I can tell it will be the versatile bag I was hoping for. I currently use it for work, and it fits a laptop, my lunch bag, extra clothes, etc. I believe it would work very well as a weekend carry- on bag as well. Something that was not obvious from the product videos and photos, but a pleasant surprise, is that it has 4 zippered sections- a laptop sleeve, a large compartment, a smaller compartment that has pen organizers and a zippered sunglass sleeve, and a front pocket that is just the right size for a phone. This is a LARGE bag, and since I 'm short( 5'4 '') I do n't anticipate it being my go- to hiking backpack, as it's a bit too long and oversized for my average hike. Otherwise, I like that it's colorful, but not too bright( I wanted something professional- ish for work), and that it has enough pockets to keep me organized.

Haven ’ t taken into the wild yet but seams to be built very well. Straps are comfortable and lots of space to carry your gear. Description says it can ’ t hold a laptop. Though there is not a dedicated laptop sleeve, there is plenty of room for one. Hopefully holds up as well as my panga.
