I have a wide foot and often boots and shoes are snug so I have to size up. I typically wear a 9. 5 or 10. With this boot a 9. 5 fit great. The boot is light weight and very comfortable. Shockingly so. I have read comments that these are not the `` hard core '' hiking boot type- and thats probably true. But if you want comfort with some warmth and protection from the elements I would recommend giving these Danners a try. The quality is certainly built in. I do get compliments on the boots when I wear them.

Come to find out my wife and mother in law sold that pair in a yard sale..:( Waited things out and they came on sale at Dick's for just under$ 285. Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

I 'm a die- hard Lone Peak trail running shoe fan. I 've been wearing them for all of my hiking and backpacking adventures for over 6 years. I tried the LP 7 and for the first time ever, it was n't love at first step. I 'll review those separately! I thought I 'd try the LP Hiker 2 instead to see if it felt better than the LP 7. I 'm happy to say that I truly love it. It's an especially nice option for rockier terrain where you might want a little ankle protection. It also eliminates the need to wear gaiters, which I always wear with the LP trail running shoe. The upper on this LP Hiker 2 is far better than I expected... flexible, no grommets to dig into skin, and laces stay tight. The upper does n't put any pressure on my heel or ankles and it does n't restrict my shin from forward motion. The tongue is very comfortable. I LOVE the brown color. It has a slight dusty rose/mauve/salmon tint to it. These are true to size. I always wear an 8. 5 in Lone Peaks and these are no different. It feels very similar to the LP 4. 5 and LP 5( shown in photo). If anything, it does feel a tiny bit more fitted in the midsole. I can immediately tell that it will be warmer and less breathable than the trail runner, but, I 'd expect that from a boot. So, I will likely reserve these for cooler days and rockier terrain., but I will also wear these a lot as a daily winter boot just because they are cute!

I recommend going a full size up. I 'm usually US size 6. 5 wide. I have the LP Alpines in 6. 5 W and they fit well, but I wear thinner socks with them. I first got the Lone Peak Hiker 2's in 7 W( half a size up), and they were a tad too small, especially because I wear thicker socks for hiking. I got them again in 7. 5 W and they 're perfect. See pics comparing sz 6. 5 Alpines w/ sz 7 Hiker 2's, and sz 7 vs. 7. 5 Hiker 2's. Also, there is no arch support in these. Not an issue for me because I have very high arches and routinely add my own insoles to my shoes. When I removed the original Altra insoles and added my own, the fit was much better, and there was more room in the toebox because my insoles are thinner in the front( I use Superfeet carbon lightweight insoles). I have n't put many miles on these yet but I have done some short walks on mixed terrain, and they are great so far. They are lightweight, the high tops support my ankles without limiting movement, and they grip the ground well. Overall would recommend. Just be sure to size up. Thankfully, Altra makes returns super easy.

I just happened across these in a Bozeman MT shop as I was about to throw in the towel on finding a decent pair of hikers. I 'd never heard of Danner before this, but after slipping these babies on I knew it was going to be the start of a beautiful relationship. These took ZERO breaking- in as they were comfy from day one for me. I 've gone on short hikes and just this past summer( I 've owned them for 2 years now), they were my flyfishing wet- wading boots. They worked like a charm on the riverbed and dried out pretty quickly and without any shape change. I bought these shoes, not ever having tried or owned a pair from On before. I am very happy I made this purchase! These are actually for hiking, but after looking at the shoe and trying them, I took a gamble thinking they would serve me well for my use. I work in an automotive detailing and aftermarket shop, and do a ton of walking back and forth and the floor is constantly wet from washing and use of detailing products. The waterproofing and tread of these shoes is amazing for my use. They are also very comfy after breaking then in. I bought them in black. Would totally buy again!

Out of all my high top Altra shoes this is the most lightweight of them all. I have to send the left shoe off to have a lift built onto the bottom, which usually makes it very heavy. It added weight to it, but it is still really lightweight in comparison. Always very warm and durable, just wish you would make this exact shoe with a taller top for better ankle support. I had a stroke and could use a little more ankle support. All in all a 5 star ranking from me!

For having been rocking a competitor brand that's very cushioned, I 've been experimenting and wanted to give these a try. I 'm not hip on the zero drop or whatever chatter. I 'm very basic and oblivious to the jargon. I let me feet tell me if they like a shoe or not. I 've already taken these puppies on some monster trails and I do n't feel pain or discomfort after being on my feet for so long. From a mean 15 miler with 4k in gains at Great Basin to a 10 miler with 3k gains around Mt Charleston. These shoes still look fresh and are keeping me happy! I 'll keep putting them to the test, but so far so good

I service center pivot irrigation systems during the summer and have had a pair of these for 3 months now. We do a lot of walking through fields and mud and climbing. I have been searching for the right pair of boots for long day hikes and backpacking for years. Salomon and La Sportiva have gotten narrower and narrower. Constant ankle and knee pain along with blisters. I took a chance and ordered the Timp 6 with hopes the wide toebox would do well. I overpronate and have bad ankles so I added a pair of Superfeet insoles to get a bit more support. Out of the box I did a 13 mile hike with no break in period at all. Zero blisters. Zero hotspots. Vastly improved muscle fatigue. Took them out to Washington and hiked around Olympic and Mt Rainier for a week in them as well. Comfortable, light, just enough support to not roll an ankle, not a single blister. 10/10 recommend. I will be buying another pair. Extremely satisfied with my purchase.
