I 've tried boots from several other brands/stores, and finally, after hearing me repeatedly complain about said failed footwear, my brother recommended Merrell. I 've only been wearing them for a few weeks, and while my feet have been delightfully dry( yes, they 're 100% waterproof even in standing water), I 'm wary about whether or not they will last as another brand or two also managed to keep themselves together for a few short months before disintegrating miserably and proving themselves not worth my money. I work in a warehouse and walk 10- 12 miles a day, 260 days a year. I have worn the Eagle Trail boots by Georgia Boot this past year. They have been amazing. Only now are the insides starting to fail at the heels. The outsole has worn evenly and still has lots of life left. The leather has resisted being run over by pallet jacks, the toes have saved my toes numerous times. I bought them at the outlet store in Nelsonville and love them so much I will order them again full price. My feet do n't sweat, stink or get blisters. I bought my second pair of these approximately a month ago. My last pair I used to backpack the Himalayas twice, Colorado, North Carolina and North Georgia. I also used them as my go to hunting boot as well. They 're heavy duty and it taken care of will last for years and years. I brought the leather back to life on mine using mink oil several times. They look good with a pair of jeans as well and make a great statement when worn in. I hated to let my other pair go and buy another pair but they served me well for over a decade. I love these boots and they are perfect when broken in.

This is a great boot, especially for serious packing. The full leather uppers offer great protection and the sole/mid sole design is tops. Very little break in either. Though not made in the US, these are not made in Asia either and are a quality product. Asolo came recommended to me from a serious outdoorsman and I am hooked. Great boot that will last a long time.

Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

I have a wide foot and often boots and shoes are snug so I have to size up. I typically wear a 9. 5 or 10. With this boot a 9. 5 fit great. The boot is light weight and very comfortable. Shockingly so. I have read comments that these are not the `` hard core '' hiking boot type- and thats probably true. But if you want comfort with some warmth and protection from the elements I would recommend giving these Danners a try. The quality is certainly built in. I do get compliments on the boots when I wear them.

I 'm a die- hard Lone Peak trail running shoe fan. I 've been wearing them for all of my hiking and backpacking adventures for over 6 years. I tried the LP 7 and for the first time ever, it was n't love at first step. I 'll review those separately! I thought I 'd try the LP Hiker 2 instead to see if it felt better than the LP 7. I 'm happy to say that I truly love it. It's an especially nice option for rockier terrain where you might want a little ankle protection. It also eliminates the need to wear gaiters, which I always wear with the LP trail running shoe. The upper on this LP Hiker 2 is far better than I expected... flexible, no grommets to dig into skin, and laces stay tight. The upper does n't put any pressure on my heel or ankles and it does n't restrict my shin from forward motion. The tongue is very comfortable. I LOVE the brown color. It has a slight dusty rose/mauve/salmon tint to it. These are true to size. I always wear an 8. 5 in Lone Peaks and these are no different. It feels very similar to the LP 4. 5 and LP 5( shown in photo). If anything, it does feel a tiny bit more fitted in the midsole. I can immediately tell that it will be warmer and less breathable than the trail runner, but, I 'd expect that from a boot. So, I will likely reserve these for cooler days and rockier terrain., but I will also wear these a lot as a daily winter boot just because they are cute!

I recommend going a full size up. I 'm usually US size 6. 5 wide. I have the LP Alpines in 6. 5 W and they fit well, but I wear thinner socks with them. I first got the Lone Peak Hiker 2's in 7 W( half a size up), and they were a tad too small, especially because I wear thicker socks for hiking. I got them again in 7. 5 W and they 're perfect. See pics comparing sz 6. 5 Alpines w/ sz 7 Hiker 2's, and sz 7 vs. 7. 5 Hiker 2's. Also, there is no arch support in these. Not an issue for me because I have very high arches and routinely add my own insoles to my shoes. When I removed the original Altra insoles and added my own, the fit was much better, and there was more room in the toebox because my insoles are thinner in the front( I use Superfeet carbon lightweight insoles). I have n't put many miles on these yet but I have done some short walks on mixed terrain, and they are great so far. They are lightweight, the high tops support my ankles without limiting movement, and they grip the ground well. Overall would recommend. Just be sure to size up. Thankfully, Altra makes returns super easy.

I just happened across these in a Bozeman MT shop as I was about to throw in the towel on finding a decent pair of hikers. I 'd never heard of Danner before this, but after slipping these babies on I knew it was going to be the start of a beautiful relationship. These took ZERO breaking- in as they were comfy from day one for me. I 've gone on short hikes and just this past summer( I 've owned them for 2 years now), they were my flyfishing wet- wading boots. They worked like a charm on the riverbed and dried out pretty quickly and without any shape change. LOVE these and will likely buy another pair soon just to be sure I have another set for when these finally go out and before Danner stops making them( although they should make these in perpetuity!). They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. Also have had a couple pairs of low top Zionics. I like them but the Apex fits me a bit better. A shade more toe box room. I would n't mind even a tad more. I will likely replace the Zionics with low top Apex shoes at some point. At 69 my feet are more particular than they once were and Keens keep me comfortably on the trail. I 've been trying to find good' intermediate' boots for snowshoeing for over a year. I bought several pairs and returned them all. These are exactly what I was looking for. They are waterproof, warm, and have stiff enough uppers for cinching down snowshoe bindings. They also have great tread and decent edging ability on hard, steep snow when not using snowshoes. They 're much lighter and less expensive than technical mountaineering boots, which were the only other good option I could find.
