Lets start by talking capabilities. Compared to the elite KVD 1. 5 which is a standard go- to lure in tournament fishing, the deep diver allows for the extra depth necessary to reach those hard to reach areas with steep elevation changes such as rock ledges, hard bluffs, or even deep grass ridden areas with hard roots. Adding the extra 4 feet reach compared to the 3- 6 ft on the 1. 5 will allow you to knock up against that cover and structure where those lunkers are sitting. The Strike King Pro Model 5XD is one of my go- to deep diving crankbaits. It 'll get down to 15- 16 feet on a long cast and lighter line. The 5XD is heavy enough to chuck a long cast, and runs deep without overpowering my heavy powered, moderate action, crankbait rod. It's got good action and runs true out of the box.
