I purchased 2 other brand vest from other suppliers, and though the fit was okay the support provided by the vests were less than 3 1/2 lbs. On my 56 lb Aussie it was fashionable only. The `` BayDog '' Monterey Bay life vest is very well made with extra stiching at all of the strap and clip points, adjustable straps make custom fitting a breeze. I Attached 6 lbs of diving weights to the vest and tossed the vest in my swimming pool. The entire vest stayed on the surface. We bought this vest for our 55 lb. pit bull mix. He would shy away from swimming because he is so muscular( no buoyancy) he had to spend all of his energy to just keep his head above water. With this vest he now absolutely loves to swim and play fetch in the water, and his `` doggy paddle '' is extremely efficient- he is a fast swimmer! The vest is adjustable and fits beautifully. When she fell off the kayak out in the middle of the lake, the handle built into the back made it easy to get her back on the deck. For the second outing, she couldn ’ t wait to get in her vest and get out on the water.

I bought this this weekend for a trip to the cabin for the 4th of July. I loved the design of the zipper on to and the buckle on the front so simple to put on your pup when wet or dry and the handle was so helpful getting her back on the dock or from the boat in to the water. I bought this for hiking with my jack russel/rat terrier mix. He has an odd shaped body( long body with short legs) which makes it hard to find harnesses that fit him without rubbing in the armpits. This harness is very adjustable and fits really well. He ca n't get out of it when rolling around which has been an issue with other harnesses we 've tried. It's well made and very durable and really easy to put on/take off with the clip buckles on the top.

So, unlike a normal strap harness, it does not dig into my pup's sweet little tummy 3) The front protects my pup's chest from being scraped up from all the sticks and shrubbery he runs through on hikes 4) It fits true to size. My dog is a 18 week golden retriever and he already weighs 49 pounds!( fatty? He prefers big boned)... [ Have some how ended up with a shepherd that LOVES to swim. Bailey will race you to the water, jump off a still moving boat and loves to synchronize swim. The ease and speed with which he can be suited up for the water makes this the ideal vest for him. Love the full wrap flotation this vest offers. The additional buoyancy gives him great confidence in the jump. So happy overall fit, quality of materials and again the speedy on.( Can not stress enough the ease of the suit up!) Oh also love the leash attachment for those emergency potty stops when he drinks the whole lake.
