The size is perfect with a small squid strip on a# 4 hook. I was pulling up sand dabs nonstop. The only ones I lost were getting torn off by a pesky seal. Otherwise, at the end of the day I was still able to remove the grubs for re- use.

Not my regular grub I use but it was a great last minute substitute

I stumbled onto these grubs and tried them, I had good success I looked for them but the only place I could find them was on line at Dick's. I would like to find them locally, but I have found it very easy to get on line. Good price& on time delivery. Thanks.

5 Crimson Ghost
I use 3in and 4in Big Hammers as my go to swimbait on 1/4th and 3/8th ounce swimbait heads. They have a great tail thump/ body wobble that it just right, not too little and not too much. The tail swims on the fall and does it's thing on the slowest of retrieves. I really like the keeled body because it helps it get down to the bottom quick, rather than round body swimbaits that might suspend in comparable situations with a ton of line out or in moving current. They are reasonably durable and they have a great color selection. They are literally the only swimbait I use on a swimbait jighead!

5 Mike7
I bought these Big Hammer Swim Bait because they are one best I have used!

I live in the Pacific Northwest and I 've found the Mack's wedding Ring series of lures to be some of the most consistent lures for catching trout in both our streams spinning and in our mountain lakes while trolling. I 've caught 14 ''- 28 '' trout and steelhead using this lure alone or with nightcrawlers or eggs on the hook. They 're on of my Go- To lures.

5 RDS 61
The Wedding Ring trolled with a Berkley Red Wiggler Gulp worm for a tail is a killer. We do n't get on the water without them.

Frequently Asked Questions For Fishing Baits for Perch

When targeting perch, various types of fishing baits can be effective. Soft baits, such as grubs and worms, mimic the natural prey of perch and can attract them in different water conditions. Additionally, using jigs or rigs specifically designed for perch can enhance your chances of success. Live bait, like minnows or small shiners, is also popular among anglers for its effectiveness in enticing perch.

Choosing the right fishing bait for perch fishing involves considering the type of bait that mimics the natural diet of perch in your fishing location. Soft baits, such as grubs and worms, are often effective, as they can imitate the movement of prey. Additionally, using rigs that allow for easy presentation in the water can enhance your chances of attracting perch. It's also helpful to consider the water conditions and the time of year, as these factors can influence perch feeding behavior.

When selecting fishing baits for perch, consider the size and shape that mimic the natural prey in the water. Look for baits with vibrant colors and realistic patterns to attract perch effectively. Additionally, the material of the bait can influence its action in the water, so choose options that provide the desired movement and durability. Lastly, consider the rigging options available, as some baits are designed for specific techniques that can enhance your fishing experience.

When selecting baits for perch, many anglers prefer materials that mimic the natural prey of these fish. Soft plastics, such as grubs and worms, are popular due to their lifelike movement in the water. Additionally, baits made from durable synthetic materials can withstand multiple catches while maintaining their effectiveness. Using baits that incorporate bright colors or patterns can also help attract perch in various water conditions.

Soft baits and hard baits for perch differ primarily in their materials and movement in the water. Soft baits are typically made from flexible materials that mimic the texture and action of live prey, allowing for a more natural presentation. In contrast, hard baits are constructed from rigid materials and often feature built-in mechanisms that create specific movements or sounds to attract fish. Each type can be effective depending on the fishing conditions and the preferences of the perch.

The best time of year to use specific baits for perch fishing often depends on seasonal patterns and water temperatures. In spring, as the water warms, many anglers find success with soft baits that mimic the natural forage of perch. During summer, using baits that can be fished at various depths can be effective, as perch tend to move to cooler waters. In fall, vibrant colors and active baits can attract perch as they prepare for winter. Winter fishing may require more subtle presentations, with smaller baits being effective in colder water.

Water conditions play a significant role in determining the most effective baits for perch. In clear water, natural-looking baits that mimic the appearance of local forage tend to be more successful, while in murky or stained water, brighter colors and more vibrant patterns can attract attention. Additionally, water temperature can influence perch behavior, with warmer conditions often leading to increased activity and a preference for more aggressive baits. Understanding these factors can help anglers select the right baits to enhance their chances of a successful catch.

To enhance the effectiveness of perch fishing baits, consider using techniques such as varying your retrieval speed and incorporating pauses to mimic the natural movement of prey. Experimenting with different depths can also help, as perch may be located at various levels in the water column depending on the time of day and water temperature. Additionally, using a combination of colors and sizes can attract more fish, as perch are often drawn to vibrant and contrasting baits. Lastly, fishing during peak feeding times, such as early morning or late afternoon, can increase your chances of success.

Yes, perch bait preferences can vary with the seasons. During warmer months, perch tend to be more active and may prefer live baits or vibrant soft baits that mimic their natural prey. In colder months, they often become less aggressive, so using smaller, more subtle baits can be more effective. Additionally, factors like water temperature and clarity can influence which types of baits are most successful at different times of the year.

When targeting perch, consider the size of the bait in relation to the size of the fish you are aiming to catch. Perch typically respond well to smaller baits, as they tend to feed on smaller prey. Additionally, the time of year and water conditions can influence bait size; during warmer months, perch may be more aggressive and willing to take slightly larger baits. Matching the bait size to the local forage can also enhance your chances of success.
