I have been using these spoons for over 50 years and with good success. Now I 'm buying the small one's to try them on Crappie.

I 've been fishing fresh and salt water with the Johnson's Minnow spoon for over 60 years and find them perfect for fishing the grassy flats, weeds and pads for nearly all fish. I always hook on a plastic grub or pork rind strip as I believe that enhances the effectiveness. Some times I 'll cast onto a pad and wiggle it off, or let it settle on the bottom, then retrieve with a small jerk similar to fishing a plastic worm. It casts easily so 1/4 oz. is good for most spinning outfits, while 1/2 oz. works best with a casting rod. For me, silver has been the best all around, but I 'm trying out colors too, especially for salt water. If I had to fish just one spoon this would be it because of it's versatility.

Large mouth, small mouth, pickerel, perch, and stripers love these lures, particularly the gold color in fish- appropriate sizes. Fishermen must love them too as they fly off the shelves. I buy them when available and resist the urge to hoard them. The weight and aerodynamic shape allow them to cast farther than most lures their size.

Perch fishing spoons are a type of fishing lure designed to mimic the movement of baitfish, attracting predatory fish like perch. They are typically made from metal and have a reflective surface that creates flash in the water, enhancing visibility. When retrieved, the spoon's unique shape causes it to wobble and flutter, making it enticing for fish.
Perch fishing spoons are primarily made from metal, such as brass or stainless steel, which provides durability and weight for casting. Some spoons may also feature additional coatings or finishes to enhance their appearance and increase their effectiveness in various water conditions. The choice of material can affect the lure's action and how it interacts with the water.
Perch fishing spoons come in various styles, including different shapes, sizes, and colors to cater to different fishing environments and conditions. Some spoons are designed for shallow water, while others are better suited for deeper areas. Additionally, the color patterns can vary to mimic local baitfish or stand out in murky waters.
The best time to use perch fishing spoons typically coincides with the active feeding periods of perch, which can vary by season and time of day. Early morning and late afternoon are often prime times for fishing. Additionally, during the spring and fall, when perch are more likely to be near the surface, spoons can be particularly effective.
Choosing the right size of perch fishing spoon depends on several factors, including the size of the perch in the area and the depth at which you are fishing. Smaller spoons are often effective for smaller perch, while larger spoons can attract bigger fish. It's also important to consider the water conditions, as larger spoons may be more visible in murky water.
