[ Takes a bit of time to install if you need a battery box as well but once it is together the two items are really solid and easy to use. Only suggestion is a lock that will hold the transducer up in the air and keep it in place while moving the kayak into and out of the water.

I have to say I 'm greatly impressed with the clarity, range, target separation, and ease of switching between down/forward/landscape mode... This thing is exactly what I was hoping for. I 've sat my boat side by side against a nice Garmin setup, and they no longer have the lead. I 'm paired with an Xplore 10... I know some argue for larger screens, but with this Mega Live 2, and good eyes, you 're just as capable with a 10 '' screen as you are any larger... Especially when it's not your full time job. I 'm catching fish much, much shallower than I expected in forward mode. Was able to dial this in even in the midst of pollen season up shallow... If you are not running forward facing sonar, you are at a major disadvantage nowadays. It's fun finding more fish for/during a tournament... Finding fish for the kids... Watching fish behavior... Learning precise bait running depths... You do not have to sling a minnow and stare at the screen all day. Know they 're there, and catch them old school if you feel like it. At least I KNOW when I 'm around fish. Mega Live 2 took the guess work out of the equation!

[ This is night and day different than MegaLive 1. Bait track g is no longer an issue, even when pinging a minnow. I could not be happier I made the switch. I have a boat full of hummingbird products and really didn ’ t want to switch to Garmin just for live sonar. Thank you Hummingbird for stepping up to the plate. That was the good. Now the only issue I am still having is sometimes when starting up the feed, in forward mode, displays vertically. When this happens I have to shut everything down and restart all graphs. I have all Solix Gen 3 ’s running the latest software. Now to be fair to MegaLive2 I was having the safe glitch with MegaLive1. Having less of an issue now but still there.

I got this as a Mother ’s Day gift and so far it ’s perfect. Last year I had purchased a Sundolphin Journey 10 SS and returned after 1 use. I ’ ve taken my new Perception Pescador out a couple of times and it ’s super stable and it tracks well. It ’s a little heavier than I ’ d like but I still love it.

My wife and I recently purchased two of these kayaks and they are very good for the price. Plenty of storage and stability is not an issue( I am 6 ’ and just under 300lbs). Great product for general purpose use such as lakes, slow rivers and calm bays. The rod holders are too shallow but with some ingenuity they are useable.

Overall, this is a really nice kayak for the price point... especially on sale. It's solid and durable, which also makes it a bit heavy. I do have a handful of complaints. First of all, the rod holders behind the seat are huge. The diameter is quite large, which increases the chance of losing a rod. I find it ridiculous that Perception sells inserts for these. The second complaint is the side handles. Aesthetically they are great. They are streamlined and sleek. Functionally, they 're less than perfect. You can only grip them one way. The cavity is on the inside of the boat so you 're fingers can only grip that side. It makes it more difficult to load on top of a vehicle. The front rod holder is n't great either. There's a RAM mount, but's it's a 1- 1/2 '' ball, which limits your options. You could get a 1 '' ball, but it's$ 20+. A small deck hatch, right in front of the seat would have been nice for phone/keys/etc. The seats not bad. I would still recommend as no boat in this range is going to be perfect.

[ Found the right kayak for me. I ’ m 6 ’ 4 and 235lbs 73 years old. Needed the length and cockpit size for comfort and stability and tracking. Yet can easily carry the kayak both assembled or in the box.( With backpack or straps) Performed well in a protected( calm) salt marsh on the North Fork of LI. It ’s not for windy or choppy conditions but mostly have paddled calm water for last 35 years in hard shell boats so given the portability and performance, might be giving up my hard shell…. third time assembling got it down to 12 minutes!

We had our maiden voyage in Alamitos Bay, and paddled around Naples Canals in Long Beach California! Tippi loved it and got her sea legs going fine! My husband paddled Mombo( the name for the new black kayak). I paddled his Coast xt— that one is a pain to assemble,( compared to my Bay ST), but the paddle is sweet and fast. My Bay St started leaking, which is also what spurred the new purchase. I paddled much more than my husband, so the Coast is in pretty good shape— but I noticed a little compromise on one of the folding corners! I might need to repair it before it leaks. This is a really solid basic unit, especially for seeing topography and water temperatures. It certainly does show fish and all of that good stuff but can ’ t really use it for targeting fish because once it shows up they ’ re behind the boat you ’ re not exactly sure how far back they may have swam away anyway, however, it is really good for targeting lots of biologic activity because that ’s where you catch the fish like where there ’s bait fish like swarms a fish. You can usually think they ’ ll be some larger fish there that you can target
