So far so good, I 've had things dropped on my head and smacked my head against some pretty hard rock with no apparent issues. Not to mention it's hard to beat the price!

This is a cheap and simple way to add some safety to your climbing. I bought this originally to give my parents some peace of mind but after my girlfriend dropped a quickdraw on my noggin I was happy I had it. This is light enough and durable enough to take with you to any crag. Make sure you use it, I forget sometimes.

I got a couple of these for me and to loan to anyone I go climbing with who may not have one, and so far they 've worked great. They 're very comfortable and very adjustable to fit a lot of different head sizes. I 've taken a few falls out on rock and I I 've definitely collided hard with the rock, but my head has always felt well cushioned.

[ Bought this for rock climbing in Hong Kong. Stylish and handsome, will not miss it or put it down when outing! I am a beginner climbing popular rock only, no big fall or large rock drop encountered so I have no idea on its protection and durability but it looks really cool so you might climb more and wear it more so.... you might have to buy a new one to substitute. Can ’ t see significant downside, but maybe a little bit narrow for big headers. Great helmet!!

[ I 've been climbing for over 50 years and used/worn a lot of helmets. In the 60's they were really klunky, heavy, thick, and tended to spin on your head falling forward covering your eyes. In the 70's and 80's only beginners, nerds and ice climbers used them.( Real men, etc. etc.) and the `` brain buckets '' had n't changed much... In the 90's as Ice became more popular, the manufacturers took heed, with the Europeans setting the standard. Early 2000's super light foams made the scene in bicycling and climbing helmets as did more and more climbers and screaming whippers so even the Hard Men and Women could justify wearing crash hats. Mammut, in my opinion, has the best defined helmets, they 've dialed the fit, using lots of fine adjustment and upped the game with state of the art even lighter materials, wind tunnel like designs and cool functioning looks. I am still climbing and wearing a Mammut Helmet and also use mine when riding my bike.

[ Very happy with this helmet. Easy to adjust for a good fit so I can tweak if when wearing over a hood or hat. Good coverage for the back of my head. I also like the styling and color.

I suggest the white one so your head doesn ’ t get overly hot on those warm send days, unless you ’ re an ice climber — in which case, you ’ ll probably go with the black, but with whichever you go, you ’ ll be sure to be satisfied with the performance and weight of this

I love my new helmet. Fits great. I bought the blue color and I love it. Super light.

5 hopedope
This helmet fits great and does not slide when looking up during climbing. I recommend this product.

5 Luvhyg
This helmet fits well, it's snug without having to cinch the chin strap too tight.

5 Karly O.
I 've used this helmet for years for rock climbing and mountaineering. It's so light, I never feel it on my head. The ponytail cutout is crucial for keeping my hair up and out of the way for safety. The adjustability is great, I can crank it down to fit tight or loosen up a little to add a thin beanie or baseball hat underneath. It works great for all of my needs!

I 'll say the same thing about the adult helmets, but this get accolades for also being dual use as a bike helmet on the kids version. The Capitan is my pick for the best compromise for overall helmets. Plenty light enough for almost anything, but has hard- shell durability. The adjustment system works fine, although I 'd prefer a BOA style adjustment. Really a helmet that leaves nothing to complain about.

5 Remy A.
Great helmet and comfortable for long wear. Comes with a sticker pack but putting stickers on climbing helmets isn ’ t recommended.

5 Tucker S.
Solid helmet for little climbers, love that it comes with a sicker pack, and love that they make it certified for bike riding too. Skip buying two separate helmets and just get this one!

5 Taylor K.
Kids Captain is great! We have some very adventurous kiddos and so having a helmet that is good for both bikes and climbing is such a great design. One less thing to pack and we get more use out of it than if we had to buy one for each sport. Great adjustability range to grow, though I do wish it got a smidgen smaller. Would love to see it in more colors as well.

Frequently Asked Questions For Lightweight Climbing Helmets

When selecting a lightweight climbing helmet, consider features such as ventilation, fit, and impact resistance. A well-ventilated design helps keep you cool during climbs, while a secure and adjustable fit ensures safety and comfort. Additionally, look for helmets made from durable materials that can withstand impacts without adding excessive weight.

A lightweight climbing helmet enhances safety by providing essential protection against falling rocks and impacts from above. Its design allows for a snug fit, which helps keep the helmet securely in place during movement. Moreover, lightweight materials reduce fatigue, allowing climbers to focus on their performance without being weighed down.

Yes, lightweight climbing helmets are suitable for various types of climbing, including sport, trad, and alpine climbing. Their design prioritizes comfort and safety, making them versatile for different climbing environments. However, it's important to choose a helmet that meets the specific safety standards relevant to the type of climbing you plan to do.

Lightweight climbing helmets are typically made from materials such as expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam for impact absorption and polycarbonate or ABS plastic for the outer shell. These materials provide a balance of durability and weight, ensuring that the helmet can withstand impacts while remaining comfortable for extended wear.

To ensure a proper fit for a lightweight climbing helmet, start by measuring your head circumference and comparing it to the manufacturer's sizing chart. Adjust the internal padding and chin strap to achieve a snug fit without discomfort. It's also advisable to try the helmet on while mimicking climbing movements to confirm that it stays securely in place.

The benefits of using a lightweight climbing helmet include increased comfort and reduced fatigue during climbs. A lighter helmet allows for greater mobility and less strain on the neck and shoulders. Additionally, lightweight helmets often feature advanced materials and designs that still provide excellent protection without the bulk of heavier models.
