I ’ ve owned this rod for about a year now and can whole heartedly sing it praises. I ’ m a AVID kayak pan fisherman. I ’ ve had this rod back in the skinny water catching bluegill, to white bass in rivers all the way to brackish gulf water catching flounder to test its metal. It passed all with flying colors. Section held together very well, eyelets are ceramic and kept the 10lb braid in good shape. Plenty of backbone for finessing bigger fish, just use a quality reel with good drag. My only suggestion for St Croix….. add an extra piece and make it 8 ’. This would be a perfect travel fresh water rod.

Also don ’ t like the clear tip of it, why not make it glow in the dark for night fishing if your already going to make it clear? Positives- it ’s surprisingly got pretty good sensitivity for it being a thicker 2 piece rod. It ’s a pretty strong and it really shows no signs of weakness. I ’ ve caught a bunch of catfish and perch over the past week and the rod has done great. One of the catfish being over 15lbs, it ’s earned my trust. I 've got several ugly stiks and this rod is also really nice. First of all, it's a fast action rod which means the top 1/3 bends and the rest offers really strong backbone. It's specially great for offshore/boat fishing for rockfish, ling, hamachi, yellowfin, halibut, and striper. Also I love the one piece stainless steel guide rings. No need to worry about cracked ceramic. One thing would be great is having a bottom( butt) cap like Ugly Stik jigging rod. But it's not an issue at all. Anyways, it feets good and sturdy. Its probably more of a Medium light rod to be honest but its my go to for finesse techniques like drop shot or tubes on the river. I will say tho i have used swim jigs with this thing and it was able to get a perfect hook set. Too light for any chatterbait tho. I use 10 lbs fluoro and have had no trouble with the line slipping the spool or reeling in fish.
