Had the normal one full day break- in period. This is my third pair and I keep coming back for them. They are rugged and durable and last a little over a year when used roughly for hiking, trail running and slogging through the mud. I compete with these a lot because they keep the water out( unless I go in the streams) and they hold up really well. The soles start to get thinner after 1. 5 years but I have n't found any others that hold up any better and still stay together like these Moab 3's.

I was part of a Montana hiking group and Merrill was always their first choice, so I was delighted to get them for him. My only objection is that we had very poor customer service. Vibram tech on the sole keeps you going strong on the most rugged terrain. The leather material keeps your feet dry and adds durability to the shoe, but it does not provide breathability like other materials. I highly recommend these shoes for specific use, but if you plan to use them for extending hiking, I would choose a fabric material so you feet can breathe and not get overheated.

Have been wearing Targhee xx's for quite a few years. Obviously, they have worked great for me, and now my wife has a pair. I wear them year- around, on snow, ice, wet leaves, steep hillsides.... I like these a lot: They have a nice wide/not too wide footprint. They have good ankle support. They have great traction. They are very comfortable. The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. But they are perfect for wet, slippery, or dry trail conditions and casual wear. To me, the picture makes them look like they have green trim: They are shades of grey, not green-- I was pleasantly surprised by that, and I think they are a good- looking pair of shoes.

This is the best fitting boot i have ever had in my 54 years of living. Seriously. The boot is actually water- proof too. Being a Transplant from coast of North Carolina to Massachusetts in the early sixties. I learned very quickly that the Sorel Caribou boot was the Best way to keep feet dry and relatively warm in the Great white Tundra of the North East states. Haven ’ t had these for long. But, if you grease them with the danner stuff right away, the break in is pretty fast. Very comfortable. I have narrow heels and wide toes. These fit me perfectly. We will see how long they last at my current job, but, my last pair of dinners lasted me 5 years doing what they were not meant for.
