I wanted a pair of lightweight hikers that would pack easily in a suitcase for travel. I went to Alaska and hiked on wet rocky trails and the shoes proved to be excellent. They were comfortable right out of the box. The waffle sole gripped wet slippery stones as well as any shoe I have ever used. I ’ m 6 ’ 1 ” /225lb wearing size 13. The toe has a nice boxy shape allowing more front freedom. I wore them all day and never felt the need to take them off as with heavier shoes. They are low cut so do not give ankle support as with higher cut heavier shoes but I found that the close fit helped me manage rocky trails without issue.

My Keen canvas Howsers were getting a little worn so I decided to try a new, different pair. I liked the look and style of this shoe and as luck would have it they were on sale. I ordered my normal size 11. When they arrived they were just a tad too short. Keen makes it easy to return and I ordered a size 11. 5 and they arrived and fit perfect!! These are an awesome sneaker. I love a slip on shoe and these allow you to have a slip on style shoe but still feel nice and snug with their lacing system. The padding around the ankle and heel is SO soft and comfortable. It feels like a tempur- pedic pillow for your foot/ankle. These are great for a trail but also just for normal walks or going around town. My only recommendation for improvement would be that the end of the laces/string bounces around a bit while you are walking. I have just been tucking them back under the laces to fix this but would be nice if there was something on the shoe that could do this for me. Either way, awesome shoe!

Merrell mocks are the most comfortable everyday shoes on the planet. Even though the Numbuck model is the same structure as the less expensive Merrell mock, the Numbuck seems more comfortable to me. I am on my 3rd or 4th pair. Although, I do suggest a different shoe if you are taking a 3- 5 mile walk/hike.

I started using Merrills like these years ago as `` heavy duty '' slippers or house shoes. Because of back problems my doctor said that I should no longer go barefoot or just wear socks when I am at home at leisure. Also I should find footwear that offers support and cushion as I worked from home on the phone and paced on a hard tile floor. Also since these shoes do not have deep treads on the bottom they are easily cleaned if I do briefly wear them outside to bring in groceries or get the mail or the newspaper. I do not wear them out into the world keeping them clean for housewear. I have found that they are super long- lasting and can be repurposed after a time as yard shoes for working outside. Then it is time for a new pair.
