The Merrell Wrapt has quickly become my absolute favorite for tackling the challenging terrain of Maine's rocky beaches. From the moment I slipped them on, the comfort was undeniable. They truly live up to the Merrell reputation for providing a barefoot- like feel without sacrificing protection. What truly sets these shoes apart for me is the wonderful grip. Those slippery, seaweed- covered rocks and jagged stones on the Maine coastline are no match for the Wrapt's outsole. I 've felt incredibly secure and confident navigating uneven surfaces, which is a huge relief when you 're trying to enjoy the scenery without constantly worrying about your footing. They perform admirably on all sorts of challenging terrain, not just the beach, proving their versatility. The design is also quite appealing – a stylish blend of casual and rugged that works well for outdoor adventures and everyday wear. The wide toe box is a major plus, allowing my toes to splay naturally and comfortably, even after long walks. My only, albeit significant, wish is that Merrell would release a Gore- Tex low version of the Wrapt. While the existing versions handle some dampness, the constant spray and occasional submersion on a rocky beach mean that truly waterproof, breathable protection would elevate these shoes to legendary status for coastal exploration. The mid- cut waterproof version exists, but a low- cut option with Gore- Tex would be the absolute perfect combination of comfort, grip, and weather protection. Despite this one desire, the Merrell Wrapt is a fantastic shoe that I highly recommend for anyone seeking exceptional comfort and reliable grip, especially if you spend time on uneven or rocky terrain. They 've made my Maine beach walks infinitely more enjoyable!

Not particularly light for “ barefoot ” shoes- but they are the first barefoot shoes that I ’ ve worn( and I ’ ve tried a dozen types) where I cold walk on sharp rocks and still feel adequately protected. Been trying everything from trail runners to hiking boots, and always have knee pain due to meniscus surgery and metatarsal pain especially on pavement or downhill. So far I 've only hiked about 10 miles in these, but it's the first 10 miles without pain in years! Fit wise, I have low volume, long arch, c width feet with all the width at the toes. I sized my normal 11. 5D and while an 11 would have fit, the 11. 5 felt better. No issues with foot slip, no hot spots. Shoes are squishy, but return energy such that they do n't feel soft. Great for pavement and trails. Well done, Danner.

[ Recently broke these in during a trip to Supai, and they performed great. Wore them in temps ranging from 30s to 80s, and I was comfortable the whole time. Water resistant enough to splash through some light streams, and did really well in sandy conditions. I wear a 10 in most brands( my go to running shoe brand in Brooks for reference), and these fit great with hiking socks. These are more of a lightweight boot/heavy duty running shoe than a true boot, but that is my preference. They seemed like they will hold up well over time, and I am very pleased with my purchase.

My only recommendation is to buy more than one pair to make sure they do n't have any weird crease points or hot spots. I had to get 3 pairs in order to find one pair that did n't have hot spots on my pinky toe( weird creasing on the toes). All in all, I would recommend these shoes.

These shoes are so comfortable. Doesn ’ t really need break in time. Most leather requires some time( a few days) to get soften. These felt like running shoes, yet offering ankle support. Beware though. They are waterproof and not as breathable as running shoes. So it ’s a little too warm. The soles are soft too. Luckily the Vibram offers more traction and durability than standard running shoes. However, it ’s squeaky on tile floors when wet. Good purchase.

I 've been researching hiking boots for several months and Asolo's products kept coming up over and over as the premier choice among experienced hikers. I was impressed by the loyalty of Asolo customers, and liked the look and reported performance of the Asolo Fugitive GTX Boot. Initially, I purchased the same size as my other boots, a 9 1/2. Upon the first test fit, I knew they were too small and returned the pair for a half size larger. The size 10 fit perfectly, but I will caution that these boots run a bit narrow( I do not have particularly large feet). Asolo thoughtfully offers `` wide '' sizes as well. I christened my new pair of Fugitives by taking a 33 mile trek on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina in early March. The trail had a good bit of snow, ice and mud. Temperatures during the three day trip ranged from 17 to 64 degrees( F), and included periods of rain and snow. The boots performed beautifully in terms of thermal and waterproof qualities. Also, these boots are very easy to put on, which is a plus when going for that 1am potty run in the cold. My only criticism of the design is that the insole is made of an extremely hard material. By day three, the balls of my feet were hurting pretty badly, and definitely detracted from the enjoyment of my trip. Adding an extra layer of socks helped marginally. I 've never experienced this problem before, so, upon arriving back home, I compared the insole to that in my older boots. Big difference; my older( HiTec) boots( which are falling apart after 15 years) have a much softer insole. I love the Asolo Fugitive GTX Boot, but will definitely add a gel insole prior to my next trip. These are, by far, the nicest( and most expensive) hiking boots I 've ever owned, and would definitely recommend them to others, but with the cautions regarding the sizing and insole material. I hope to add a couple thousand comfortable miles to these boots in the years to come.

I like these a lot: They have a nice wide/not too wide footprint. They have good ankle support. They have great traction. They are very comfortable. The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. But they are perfect for wet, slippery, or dry trail conditions and casual wear. To me, the picture makes them look like they have green trim: They are shades of grey, not green-- I was pleasantly surprised by that, and I think they are a good- looking pair of shoes.

I wore them for a year at a job where I did n't have to stand all day, and recently switched to a job where standing for 12 hours was part of the job. I think the ppl are ready to pay 150- 200 for a more durable design but then again they have shoes for that very reason. These are sneakers and should be treated as such! I have a hiking/trekking shoe problem( name the brand, I might have 2 pair), and if I had to pick only ONE, to wear every day.. doing every thing.. for eternity... it's got to be this one. Sizing: I 'm an 11. 82, medium. I have the greys size 12 here. Great fit, there 'd be extra room if needed. Toe box remains roomy due to lacing grid, but it's welcomed. Nothing thicker socks/insoles ca n't fix of course if it pleases you. Closest thing to a barefoot shoe that I 've put on and liked. They call this a barefoot and I wo n't put up a fight, but they seem pretty tall( FOR a bf shoe). In any case, it's close, and I do love the grounded feel, but only because the tread is so supportive. Ya know how most shoes are either very technical, or, `` go straight! '' etc etc? These, you 're just kind of, surfing B) What's the Catch?... 1) I 'm aware of some longevity concerns w/ tread, but I 'd imagine the give- or- take goes to the shoe FTW- anything reasonable would be worth it b/c the shoe is that great. 2) I 'd be lying if I was n't a bit concerned about the construction of the eyelets- they give the impression that too many tough yanks will make them angry. Worst case, you can craft some metal loops into the shoes, and gives you a reason to visit w/ your local tailor and share stories:)

[ Extremely comfortable and great quality. My first time wearing them was during a weekend trip to the mountains- had them on my feet all day, wore them around town, and then went on a 3 mile hike through dirt, mud, and some shallow stream. They were extremely comfortable and didn ’ t need any break in, plus they kept my feet dry. All the mud washed off very easily with a light brush and some warm water the next day. They run true to size.

Comfortable fit with just enough room for a pair of woolly socks as the weather gets colder. Traction is great. Not the best I ’ ve had for ice but still great. Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

Great shoes! Not particularly light for “ barefoot ” shoes- but they are the first barefoot shoes that I ’ ve worn( and I ’ ve tried a dozen types) where I cold walk on sharp rocks and still feel adequately protected. The souls have phenomenal traction. They are extremely comfortable with or without socks. And, for barefoot shoes, they look good.

As an avid outdoorsman and professional photographer, I ’ ve been wearing the Moab series for years. Over the years and thousands of miles hiked, I developed Morton ’s neuroma in my right foot. [ I bought these end of August last year. Excellent fit( really best fit of a hiking boot I have ever had) and kept my feet warm through the winter even during subzero temps. Walking a puppy 4 to 5 times a day, comfort is key and with having wider than normal feet, the fact these come WIDE is a HUGE plus. Soles lasted about 360 miles with half that walking in sand so typical range of at the price point and still usable. Definitely buying another pair soon.

[ I have had several pairs of these and will keep buying them as long as they are available. I use them for everything from hiking and fishing to farm work, roofing and all types of construction. I even have a pair I wear for casual outings. I do n't think they are intended for the abuse I put them through, but they hold up pretty well and most importantly, I never think of my feet hurting while I 'm wearing them, even after long, exhausting days. My finicky feet love these hikers for all occasions.
