It ’s really versatile, looks great with outdoor gear, jeans or more formal wear and is trusty and hard wearing. Fit is spot on and pockets are useful. Like the hem cord to bunch it up when necessary and the hood protects from the wind. I like the brand as it represents quality but isn ’ t an obvious or common choice. Jackets get lots of positive comments. I am surprised by how much I appreciate this old- school jacket. It is extremely durable; very comfortable and quiet; and has a beautiful timeless design and style. I have been wearing the Skogso as my everyday jacket- and bought this one on sale as a work/barn/farm jacket. I must say that I love it so much I almost hate to only wear it on the farm! That being said it is the best farm coat I have ever had- I use it in every season, with wool/down underneath in the New Brunswick winter. A note on the waterproofness of wax- treated G- 1000- one can greatly increase the waterproofness( and durability) of G- 1000 with wax treatment( and although a bit tedious, if you enjoy looking after/maintaining fine things, it is actually fun!). That being said, no one wold claim it is as waterproof as a modern( and toxic) synthetic waterproof- '' breathable '' material. But, G- 1000 breathes better than any modern synth rain jacket; and( this is rarely mentioned) G- 1000 drys incredibly fast- even while wearing it. For me the pros of G- 1000 greatly outweigh it being less waterproof than a synth jacket. I am not going to the moon- both I and my clothes can dry by the fire; in the sun; or even walking on the trail. This is a superb jacket. Though I have never owned one- this jacket sure looks very close to the Vidda Pro- surely the Vidda Pro is based on this design?

After six months of use, I thought it was time to write a review of this jacket. I purchased the Greenland Jacket in the fall, so now after seeing three of the four seasons it 's best suited for, I can say it was an excellent choice for various reasons. First, its durability. It 's functioned well in both heavy rain and snow. I 've had to reapply the wax coating three times( the first attempt was a failure). I would not advise using a hairdryer to melt the wax. It 's both time- consuming and results in an uneven blotchy look. Go with an iron, apply light even layers of wax and you 'll find the outcome far superior. Once I used this method, I was satisfied with the overall outcome. The Greenland Jacket will work very well during the shoulders seasons as well as the wintertime. Second, it 's a great choice for layering during the colder months. I 'm 6' 0 '' 185lbs and a large will fit well as a single layer( jacket only) as well as an outer layer with a down insulation layer under the Greenland. I 've owned( and still own) various shells and this in now my go- to outer layer in the winter months. It provides moisture protection and the features I both wanted and discovered I did n't know I wanted! The four large button pockets are great for storage, easy to access when wearing gloves, and blend well with the overall look. I also found the front two- way zipper to be a great option for venting when heat dumping becomes necessary. The only small complaint is the zipper can sometimes be difficult to start, but nothing that would make me reconsider this product. Lastly, it 's a stylish timeless look. There 's a reason this design has been around for decades, its functionality as well as the timeless look. So in terms of both function and style, this is near the top of any choice out there. After buying the Greenland and now six months in, I can say it was a great choice and I think most anyone would agree.

I 've owned a lot of jackets over the years. Helly Hansen, Eddie Bauer, Spyder, Khul, Mammut, etc. This is by far the warmest jacket I 've ever owned. Even at 30- 35 degrees( F) I sometimes find myself unzipping it as it is too much insulation. I 've worn it out to about 5 degrees with only a light sweater under it and was not even slightly cold. There are more technical jackets out there if you 're looking for backcountry skiing stuff but if you 're just looking for something to keep you warm around town, winter hiking, or sledding with your kids, you ca n't beat this. Also looks great and super comfortable.

Love this jacket. Bought the medium but unfortunately due to the mid- life spread it was too tight around the mid drift, so that one to a friend. Bought another in large, fits like a glove and both of us have gotten some good wear out of these already. An absolute perfect jacket, I would love to see Fjallraven make this a full winter jacket with extra insulation similar to the Nuuk Parka, then it would be an absolute beast of a jacket.

This jacket was bought gor me as a gift about a month ago and I think I 've worn it every day since, through November into December, in a wet and Stormy Wales. The medium fits my 5'11 '' frame perfectly. Warmth is n't an issue. I 've worn the jacket with only a t shirt beneath, in windy, freezing temps, with no issue at all. Lots of handy pockets and a hood that works best with a hat worn beneath. Regarding rain. I 'm not going to wear the jacket for prolonged rain. But for showers or drizzle my unwaxed jacket works just fine. For the time being I 'm not going to wax it, as I like the way the jacket looks and I do n't want to change that. So a superb jacket for cold, windy, damp days. I love it.

This jacket is an addition to the three other various Carhartts that I have hanging in my coat closet. I was needing something on the lighter side this time for doing some e- bike trail riding around metro Detroit and also something to match the camo paint scheme on my fat tire. This jacket 's Moss color turned out being about as close to U. S. Army `` mean green '' as you could hope to get and I also really like the high zip neck and velcro adjustable sleeves. The fit was perfect too, as always. Since I have the sincere `` need for speed '', I was also duly impressed with how warm it was against the Spring windchill temps. I paired this jacket up also with some Carhartt fingerless gloves which is another story but the combo has worked out exceedingly well for riding. After all the accolades though, what stands out the most about this brand to me is that it was born in the City of Detroit for the tough, honest, hardworking man and wearing it, to quote Doc Holiday, kind of reminds me of me.

I love the fit and feel. Very lightweight, which I wanted, as a summer weight jacket. The stretch improves the fit and feel over my other bomber. The only things I would change is; Add the original bomber style shoulder pockets and tool sleeves, maybe even on both sides. A velcro shoulder patches with a cover that matches the jacket fabric to hide the velcro if preferred. Stretch cordura or something cut resistant to protect in the shop against sheet metal edges or on the street for self defence. Hand pocket designed more like the original without the flap. Or maybe different bomber offerings.

This jacket has ended all desire to purchase anything else. Great quality and build. It ’s kept me warm and dry on chilly pow days and the vents keep me cool on the sunnier days. The oversized hood goes over my helmet and keeps me very cozy. Easily the best jacket I ’ ve invested in. It is a little big but that does allow me to layer comfortably while still maintaining mobility. I ’ d prefer this over a tighter fit and baggy is steezier anyway. If anything, I would prefer zippered internal pockets but that ’s just me being nit picky.

I like the jacket for downhill( lift) skiing at Whistler/Blackcomb:- The hood covers the entire helmet and stays up. I like to ski with my hood up when it 's a bit cold.- The big, wide collar to zips up to cover most of my face even when wearing a thick face covering.- It has appropriate insulation. You need extra layers underneath when it 's cold but it should be quite wearable for spring skiing with just a shirt on underneath.- Pockets are where they should be and the right size. Some suggestions for improvement:- There is no place to attach a whistle which would be close to the mouth. The zipper pulls where I would normally attach a whistle are solid and not useful for that purpose. This is quite important when skiing a big mountain resort like Whistler/Blackcomb. There really needs to be a place to attach a whistle near the mouth. I may get a little loop sown in some place on the jacket.- The inside chest zipper pocket should be on the inside of the insulation rather than the outside. This would keep the phone and other electronics warmer.- It would be nice if the collar was just a bit higher, maybe by a centimeter or so. Not a big deal. Overall I am very happy with the jacket so far.

happy with this jacket. i used at mt Bachelor for four days. it was cold week but i never got cold, in fact i had to open vents. i 'm 6' 1 '' and its very comfortable fit. hood its true helmet compatible. main zipper sometimes was stubborn but manageable. i would improve the top of inside part of zipper where Gore- Tex material is touching your face/ mouth when hood is over the helmet by putting softer cloth material, maybe even this piece could be removable for often cleaning. overall good jacket.

This jacket is more than I could have hoped for. I operate a snowplow at a ski resort at night during storms clearing parking lots. When I get out of the tractor into what is frequently a howling blizzard, this keeps me warm, sealed and protected. It 's loose enough that I can wear layers underneath if it 's really cold and the whole thing is lined with nylon so there is no binding at all. The hood and zipper come up to just the right place on my chin to be functional without hindering. And when it 's wet snow or rain, it runs right off and I stay dry. Amazingly comfortable. [ I purchased the prior version of this jacket in Real Tree Hardwoods in 2016 and used it to harvest my first turkey. That jacket lasted 7 hunting seasons( spring and fall) and is still usable but the camo is fading so I bought this jacket as a replacement. I used it the first time for deer this fall. This jacket appears just as durable as my 2016 jacket, but appears to also have water resistance features as an added bonus. With a wool base layer and long sleeve T underneath, the jacket should be ok for a long sit down to 45 degrees. For colder weather, just add a down vest. This is probably a roomy medium. I 'm a true medium( 5'10 '', 160lbs) and the medium in this jacket gives you room to layer, but it 's not so big as to let wind come up the waist elastic. I own quite a bit of hunting clothes from some big name competitors, but Carhartt has always been my favorite go- to. My only suggestion for improvement is for Carhartt to expand the line. Make Yukon Extremes in hunting pattern! Expand the types of camo patterns. Build it and they will come.

Second is a Navy one bout a year old I save for best. No bobbling or damage looks great both wash well and have good warmth. I Keep checking back for a black one but to no avail.

[ Purchased this after my favorite KUHL jacket of a similar design gave it up…pilled, zippers tore, etc. Anyway, bought the Fjallraven a size smaller to be more form fitting and as a warm solo in just cool weather and under layer when cold. I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ” and 185. This jacket is now my favorite. Tighter weave, no pilling expected, warmer and a great fit. Yeh, the zippers aren ’ t great but they won ’ t snag due to they are protected with flaps(?). Plus there are cinches in the side pockets. Not sure how they work but we ’ ll see.
