I love my Cielo rain Jacket. I 'm from Malaysia, and we have crazy monsoon rain here. After the 2nd day I received the jacket, I was headed out to my first Salsa class, and it was pouring. I needed to make it there in time as it was a 40 min drive from home, but with rain and traffic, I had to use the motorbike. I thought to myself, now this would be a Super Test for the jacket. In the pouring rain, the jacket kept me warm, and rain did not enter through my cuffs which i really appreciate. Because my older jacket, wind would often ride up my sleeves. I was also grateful that my salsa shirt( not! it was more of an outdoorsie one) was dry. This would mean water did not leak through the zippers, even with wind and splashes from other vehicles. My only concern was the front pocket where i kept my phone at my chest, was very damp. Something for me to prepare next time would be a little zip lock bag to ensure important things in the pocket stay dry. On arrival, my new Salsa friends was impressed i got through the storm, and had a dry shirt on! But they laughed at my soaking wet jeans.

But the biggest selling point for me with this jacket is its' versatility. I am easily kept warm in New York winter with the full coat, but on days when it's milder, I love that I can easily just take off the blue outer shell and only use the inner piece-- which is also a great stand alone jacket. It fits true to size and looks like how it does on the website. I 'm 5' 3 '' and 135 lbs and bought a Medium and it fits great. Not oversized or too tight anywhere. But it is form fitting. So if you like a baggier look and feel, I 'd go up a size. The quality of material and the zippers is excellent, and it's really easy to put the jacket back together if you choose to separate the layers. This jacket is an addition to the three other various Carhartts that I have hanging in my coat closet. I was needing something on the lighter side this time for doing some e- bike trail riding around metro Detroit and also something to match the camo paint scheme on my fat tire. This jacket's Moss color turned out being about as close to U. S. Army `` mean green '' as you could hope to get and I also really like the high zip neck and velcro adjustable sleeves. The fit was perfect too, as always. Since I have the sincere `` need for speed '', I was also duly impressed with how warm it was against the Spring windchill temps. I paired this jacket up also with some Carhartt fingerless gloves which is another story but the combo has worked out exceedingly well for riding. After all the accolades though, what stands out the most about this brand to me is that it was born in the City of Detroit for the tough, honest, hardworking man and wearing it, to quote Doc Holiday, kind of reminds me of me.

I bought this about a month ago. I had a number of occasions to wear it. It ’s very well- made. The outside is more of a rubber than a hard plastic. That makes noise when you walk. The pockets are a little bit higher, like people have said in other reviews, but I find it easier. The hood extends out slightly to give extra coverage. Another great Patagonia purchase.
