I bought this about a month ago. I had a number of occasions to wear it. It ’s very well- made. The outside is more of a rubber than a hard plastic. That makes noise when you walk. The pockets are a little bit higher, like people have said in other reviews, but I find it easier. The hood extends out slightly to give extra coverage. Another great Patagonia purchase.

It has a great design that is thin, breathable, and has front pockets. It also has reflective print on chest, arms, and back. Along with breathable flaps on chest and back that make it easy to run in the wind or rain. I also like the addition of the hoodie which had a toggle string to tighten to your liking. The fabric what breathable yet soft and had a flowing feel to it. It surprisingly can hold up to elements like wind and rain when running short or long distances. The jacket was great I would love to have one that was a tad bit thicker for running in cold weather. Overall it was well made and I liked the reflective pieces and toggle on the hoodie which the most!

If I wear it with the Chubbies comfort hoodie the arms are super tight. Fits much better with the movementum thin hoodie. I am 217lbs 6ft tall. I got in size large. [ This jacket is pretty much everything you want it to be for a running coat or rain coat or everyday wear coat!:) It is so thin, lightweight and the material is very stretchy. I love that it's made of 75% recycled material and is also waterproof. Cool! My favorites about this coat are in the details though!! The sleeves have elastic so you can pull them up your arms and they stay. The zipper pulls all have a little extender on them for convenient use and there is an elastic hook to hang the coat by. Probably my favorite detail is the design of the hood pulls. You can pull your hood tight and lock it into place with a stopper. But even more awesome, the stopper is on a loop with a little blocking washer so your strings wo n't get lost in the holes of the hood during wear or washing. Amazing design!!! The only thing I would mention here is that I am a woman and this is a mens coat so the design is very straight; no room for hips at all- so I would suggest getting a womens style coat if you are at all curvy. For me I just tuck it under. Also for a men's small to fit me perfect makes me think it may run a bit small( as I think most Nike items do). Overall, highly recommend.

I 'm an avid hiker in Colorado. I never go on a hike without this jacket. It's lightweight and super easy to pack. It keeps me completely dry on the trail and works great as a windbreaker as well. Very easy to layer on colder days. I started with just black, and have purchased two more colors since my first one 5 years ago. I 'm 5' 11 '' and 195 lbs, and the medium works well for me.

I ’ ve had two of these now over the last 5- 6 years. I do a lot of saltwater fishing on the Northern California coast and this involves actively wading up to my waste in saltwater sometimes. This jacket combined with my waders keeps me dry very well. The first one I had the zipper failed on it after about 4 seasons of heavy use in saltwater so I can ’ t fault the product for that since just about anything will fail in saltwater. I bought a new one and am back out there staying dry and warm. These are really light too, I can see them as a budget backpacking rain shell option as well. I use mine for backpacking also but by ultralight backpacker standards this is not an ultralight jacket. That said it will keep you dry and it is a great wind breaker too. Can ’ t beat the value.

I unfortunately snagged it on my first trip with it so am dealing with having a patch kit that does n't really want to stay patched. But that's my problem, not the jacket's! This rain jacket is super impressive. When it comes to traveling, camping, hiking, or even exploring new cities, countries, etc. You ca n't beat the portability of this jacket. It is super thin and light making it easy to roll up and store into any type of bag weather it's a backpack, purse, or even large fanny pack. Even for being so light and thin, it easily stops water from getting through. I 've had zero issues with any type of moisture getting inside either due to prolonged periods of water exposure or leaks through any seals and stitching. I will say, because it's so thin, in colder weather, you would need a warmer layer underneath to act as insulation. That being said, you might need to get one size up than normal so it can fit over any layers you need. Also, if you are traveling through any thick brush or scraping up against rocks, you need to be careful about scraping or snagging any sharp/rough surfaces too hard to prevent any micro/macro tears in the material. Being so thin, it's not super durable, but it's not very easily torn either. Overall fantastic product and highly recommend

I 'm a big jacket person, I have one for just about every weather situation and this is my go to in the spring and summer. It's really effective at blocking wind while I 'm biking, I 'll layer a fleece if it's chilly. I purchased one of these in Copenhagen 4 years ago, and have worn it on the beach in Oregon at least 500 times. There are no signs of fraying, material is still strong, zippers work great. If it rains, or excess wind demands it, the hood fits well and tightens with clever elastic locking adjusters. The length is just right for me, not too long like some. Chest pocket is perfect for keeping my wallet/ID. I have collected rocks over the years and just put them in the side pocket, and they are still strong. Light weight but excellent in windy conditions. I do n't need to replace it but after 4 years it's looking a bit faded so I ordered another one in a different color and it's on the way. Expect the new one is the same great jacket. Thank you Fjall Raven. In my entire life I do n't think I 've worn a single jacket so much, and I 've never taken the time to go online and praise a piece of clothing but this deserves that.

[ Wore this on a cruise to Ireland& Scotland. It repelled wind& light rain and I found myself reaching for this jacket often. The fit is nice, I 'm 6' 4 and the XL is nearly perfect. The sleeves are little long( my size is 36/37 so this is probably 37/38) but I 'm ok with it. The front/back length is passing for my height but if the back was longer( like they do with some jackets) it would be even better. If you 're 6' 2 to 6' 3 I think the length would be perfect on both sides. The body is roomy but not baggy, and fortunately not slim fit like some. It's not the best in the cold and the material has a cool feel against the skin, so I wore this with a L/S wool baselayer. Mountain grey is a killer color, my favorite from this brand thus far. I really like they style and I got several compliments.

This jacket served me well for 10 years of steady use every winter/fall and I finally replaced it. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. In summary, this is a durable, lightweight, packable and versatile jacket that does its job in the back- country but transitions seamlessly to the front- country. Highly recommended.

I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

Love that this uses a fairly high fill power down( 800+), making it warm and space/weight efficient. I have higher fill power items like MH ghost whisperer UL( 1000 FP), but most UL garments use fragile fabrics and do n't have any weather protection, so they 're really limited to cold, dry weather. The Helium Down Jacket has weather resistance in key areas due to the Pertex Diamond Fuse panels, which makes it more versatile. It wo n't be a great outer layer if you 're expecting heavy rain, but I wear it by itself in a light mist or under a shell if heavy rain is expected. The Pertex panels are a little crinkly, but not as loud as some reviews suggest. I found the sizing to be accurate. This is quickly becoming a staple of my wardrobe from fall through spring. I have had a stretch down pullover hoody for about a year but wanted one that had a zipper. I found this fabric to be high quality and have never had any issues with tears. It does stretch but I wear mine fairly baggy so it does n't get tested. Its super light and you can stuff it almost anywhere. It feels like a windbreaker but it does hold some heat. I 'm a moderately heavy build and I do prefer slightly cooler temps than the average person. I feel comfortable wearing a t- shirt and this as long as its above maybe 25 or above for relatively short periods of time( hour or less). I live in central NC and on the rare occasion its colder than that, I reach for my regular stretch down hoodie. I do sorta wish it had a drawstring on the bottom but not a deal breaker.

I am an OR employee and have used prototype versions of this jacket over the past couple years. The fabric works very well at giving both wind and light weather protection AND breathability and stretch. For running, mountain biking and as an `` up- hill jacket '' for backcountry ski touring it is amazing because it adds warmth in cool and cold temps, but breathes enough to prevent overheating so much better than traditional windshells. And it is ultralight and highly packable. Best of all worlds.( It does not replace a rain jacket though. It is water resistant, but far from waterproof.)

This jacket is extremely comfortable. I 'm 5' 6 '' with broad shoulders and a more or less triangular shape( not a body builder by any stretch, though). The medium fits me perfectly with room to layer. I expect it's long enough for taller people, too. It breaths well, provides good wind protection, and a small amount of protection from precipitation. The first time I tried running in this jacket, the hood flopped annoyingly into my field of view. I have since discovered that you can just fold the brim back once or twice to tighten up the fit. This may look a little wonky, but it works beautifully, and it's the only option, since there's no drawstring adjustment on the hood. It's very nice to have hand- warmer pockets, which many wind shells omit.

This jacket is a light, packable, and comfortable. Perfect for warm weather adventures that just need a little extra layer to block the wind. It packs down into a small pouch that can be tossed in your pack or beach bag for that `` ace in the hole '' when needed. Unlike many competing brands, this jacket is made of a very soft material and does not have the crinkle feeling like you are putting on a trash bag. Also unique to this jacket compared to it's competitor's is that it has front handwarmer pockets as well as a chest pocket( most packable options do not). The pockets in my opinion bring it from just being a quick grab backup plan to an intentionally worn and functional jacket. The chest pocket is a great spot to quickly store your cell phone and the front hand pockets give you that sensation like you just put on your favorite hoodie sweatshirt. I have worn it while hiking mountains during the summer in Maine to hanging out on the beach in Costa Rica on a windy day.

Absolutely killer jacket. Bought it to use for teaching a backpacking class in the late fall in high mountains of Idaho where it can get pretty cold pretty quick. Used it in- 10f weather with a baselayer underneath and shell on top and stayed toasty the whole time. Provides an honestly impressive amount of wind resistance even on the seams. A lot of people claim durability issues but I 've used it climbing, backpacking, and bikepacking for about two years now and it's done amazingly. Well done Mountain Hardwear!

Water beaded up nicely on the outside of the shell and the pit zips came in very handy as I started heating up. I haven ’ t tried it out in the rain but I did wear it for a day and can say that it does keep you warm! I love the pit zippers they allow you to breathe and conceal at the same time! Love the colors my only peeve is that a large is truly a large lol. If you want to wear a sweatshirt under a rain jacket this is perfect if you wear a medium size shirt youll want to up it in size only if you plan wearing something bulky under it if not, then stay to the size you wear. The other reason I got the large is my arms are longer than average and my shoulders broader than average as well! I wish it was tapered at the waist line a little bit but overall it ’s a cute jacket! I got it to take on a cruise in the UK from Amsterdam! 12 days of fun I hope! I believe this jacket will last a lifetime as I have several products from Cotopaxi! My backpack is 16 years old and still looks new and I use it a lot! If it gets dirty I just throw it in the washer and it comes out brand new! Have fun exploring the world!
