I picked these up at the Bellevue, WA store. I was surprised by the price compared to others I 'd seen online. But I picked up a pair and I 'm glad I did. After I unboxed these I found the quality was very high. The clips that come with this are very heavy duty and high quality. When I went back to Amazon and looked up anything approaching the quality of these dumbbell bars it was more expensive there when I added in two sets of very high quality clips. These weigh in at 9. 9 lbs( probably 10 on a better scale).

The bar holds over 5 plates on each side and is n't bending. I 'm pretty sure it will hold 6 plates on each end depending on collar width. Hex deads are a great way to build muscle and this bar can handle the load. High and low grips are great for more options. Im glad i did n't spend 500 or some crazy price on a hex bar with more useless whistles.

But I was hesitant to order the Body Solid bar because the reviews for the 5ft bar indicated it was covered with an oily/sticky coating that was difficult to remove. There are different types of Curl Bars. Some are solid steel, which ultimately add to the weight that you are lifting. Other bars, are hollow, for the purpose of making them lighter, but the drawback is that they are not as strong. Next, companies say `` Standard '' or `` Olympic ''. Be careful here. True Olympic bars are 2 inches thick and solid. Standard, could range, depending on the company, but they are usually 1 inch thick and can be both hollow or solid. Just because it may say `` with Olympic style collars '' does n't mean the bar is Olympic in the sense of solid AND 2 inches thick. For beginners, you may not want a solid bar. Or if you have cancer or another illness and you are trying to get back to lifting, then a hollow bar would probably serve you better. Lastly, if you are just starting but expect to make gains quickly, then opt for a solid stronger bar that will not limit the amount of weight it can hold.

Decided to give the Ethos a try and glad I did. For the price, this thing is way better, padding was more comfortable, the handles are solid stainless steel, very high quality. The bar is good overall, but it lacks the clips needed to hold weight plates on the bar. This bar has smooth ends, not the typical screw on ends. Most- if not all- bars come with the nuts/clips you need to hold the weight on- this one does not. There were no other reviews that I could find on this product when I ordered it online, so I was n't sure how it would compare to some of the other open trap bar alternatives from REP, Titan, or Rogue. It's a very solid and heavy bar. The info page states it weights 55lbs, and I have n't verified the weight but it definitely feels like it. I 've added about 190 lbs to it so far and have n't noticed it sagging at all. It still easily rotates onto its legs so that you can offload the weight or add more plates. Paint and finish is good. No issues with the way that it was packaged in the box. It made it to my house without any damage. Knurling on the grips is nice, and not too aggressive. Only took about 10 minutes to put it together with 10 hex bolts. I 'm not sure where I 'm going to store this, but I 'll have to get creative.

I ’ m extremely impressed with the price,& design of the Ethos open trap bar. There wasn ’ t any mentioned of the material used to construct this bar, but I think I was able to deduce most of the material. The sleeves appear to be chrome, tubing appears to be a black powder coat,& the knurling appears to be chrome( it is passive and close to the same knurling used in a Rogue OH bar). I got up to 405lbs with no issues, and yes you ’ ll feel a bit of a heavier front load pulling you forward since the front is heavier due to the design of the open bar. The bar is overall well balanced until hitting those upper 300lbs weight. The spin is nice because it allowed me to really lock in my wrist straps, so I highly recommend using wrist straps to lock that grip in. I highly recommend this bar.

Writing this because the other reviews here do not describe what I received. Mine accepts standard plates and fits on an Olympic rack, as advertised, AND it arrived in a full- length cardboard tube with plastic caps, sealed in a plastic sleeve inside.

I 've worked out with this bar a couple of times and it is does exactly what it was designed to do. The length is ideal and the bar works well with my steel plates as well as plastic covered concrete weights. It would be great if the bar shipped in a tube, instead of the roughly 3 foot length of cardboard they taped around the middle. The bar survived the trip, just took time and some GooGone to get the sticky off.

Shopped around for some farmer carry bars and what drew my attention to these besides the great price was the knurled grips that I did n't see most if not all of the others. I ordered them on a Friday and they were delivered on Wednesday. The packaging was in good shape and there were no flaws in the finish of the bars. The bars weighed in at 22. 2lbs each on my bathroom scale. There is 12 '' of sleeve length which will allow for plenty of weight. They came with 4 spring collars which is a good thing because standard spring collars are too big. But less than standard olympic sleeve diameter seems to be the norm with all these carry bars. I did find that my hex collars will also work on them, just not as tight as on an Olympic bar. I 'm very happy with the purchase and ca n't wait to try them out.

The more I read about farmer's carry, the more I believe it should be a major part of everyone's workout. It activates essentially every muscle group, including working cardiovascular strength, and especially targets forearms and traps. I got these bars on sale but they 're worth it even at full price. I 've been using them every day, alternating heavy carries one day and lighter the next, just added on to my normal workout for the day. You have no excuse to not own a pair. Seriously.

Just got them and tried them out. Paint on collars is fragile, but I 'm not sure why the collars are painted anyway( main reason for 4 not 5 stars). They seem well built otherwise and held up to the 220# I had on each of them. They are well balanced and provided quite a workout. The knurling is pretty agressive, but similar to powerlifting bars. Chalk helped.

Pretty good construction- welds at bar/collar junction seem pretty well done. Hollow but side walls of bar pretty thick. Not sure about weight capacity, but seems like it would do fine with 200- 250 lbs. Definitely increases range of motion. Allows for about 3 '' in grip width variation, so you can emphasize outer lats or nearer to spine pretty effectively. Collar fits perfectly over olympic bar ends. I 've not tried the smaller collar over standard bars, but at least it's an option. Personally, I feel the price for this particular item was a bit high. From my research it was comparable to commercial bars of greater thickness and weight capacity. However, this was readily available and in stock from Dick's, so that became the selling point for me. I would recommend the bar to others, but I would suggest to see if it goes on sale or if a coupon becomes available before purchasing at full price.
