I have been looking at an electric knife sharpener for two years and Smith's Handheld Electric and Manual Knife Sharpener, was a pleasant surprise. It does a good job on mostly deer hunting knifes( from old carbon steel to new stainless steel). It was especially useful for sharpening some knifes that had been relegated to the tackle box etc. becuase they were too difficult to keep sharp. After a YouTube video and reading instructions I was on to sharpening two of my pocket knives with ease. Will need to practice more for sure, but I was able to get a super sharp edge at least at some parts of the knife. Depending on the surface it may not stay still and move depending on the amount of pressure you use, but this is likely an easy fix.

However with a few minutes I was already getting really good results with this. Now it's early so I 'm still in the break- in phase. But so far I really like it. If you take your time and follow the direction you 'll be cutting meat, or your fingers in no time!

I like the tool it does do what it advertises, I would like to see a better selection of belts it goes from fine to extra supuer fine or extra course. I think that it hard to tell if there is much of a difference when going from 220 grit to 6000 ther needs to be some inbetween grits.

I received this knife as part of promotional bonus for signing up to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation about one year ago. I love this little knife. I own my own Machine Shop, where I specialize in restoring old cars and trucks, and I use this knife constantly for opening boxes of parts and cutting heavy duty rubber hoses for heaters. I have yet to change blades. I have read some of these other reviews where the owners are complaining that their knives broke while they were skinning an elk, or something like that, but chances are they were abusing the knife. Any tool will fail if its abused. Use this knife as it was intended and it will last a long time. Thank you.
