The preloaded maps are great and the gps is nice finding structure Texas parks& wildlife placed in Lake Conroe. Marking good fishing spots is easy with mark waypoint feature. Sidescan sonar really shows a good picture of what is below the water.

This is for Kayak fishing but add the track to a board and your open water Garmin transducer to the arm and you have a year round sonar. Without an arm like this the standard transducer cable is too stiff to keep the transducer pointing straight down which is critical when in flasher mode.

This is a really solid basic unit, especially for seeing topography and water temperatures. It certainly does show fish and all of that good stuff but can ’ t really use it for targeting fish because once it shows up they ’ re behind the boat you ’ re not exactly sure how far back they may have swam away anyway, however, it is really good for targeting lots of biologic activity because that ’s where you catch the fish like where there ’s bait fish like swarms a fish. You can usually think they ’ ll be some larger fish there that you can target
