The best option for compatible wading boots. Will not be on the water without these.

5 BruceW
These cleats in combination with my felt bottoms really grip the river bottom.

I 've been using Hardbites for years and I 've never lost even one. I 've read reviews and noticed some folks that have lost them, and I think I know why. You 're over tightening them and stripping the threads you cut in the rubber. Just tighten them until the screw head just touches the countersink. Then just snug them up. The rubber acts like the spring on a needle valve and holds the screw. I just check mine occasionally.

Bought these to use at the San Juan, to really see the difference first half of day went without, second half put them on. Definite difference, worth putting on. Easy to install.

Studs have never failed me. Feel real secure with them on the boots. I would get the tool to put them on with mines didn ’ t come with it.

5 JamesW
Added grip on slippery river rocks is a huge improvement. Only had them on for maybe 15 total hrs of wading but they are still securely in place.

5 Cameron V.
Best boot you ’ ll ever own. Lightweight and durable.

5 David H.
Grippy little studs that help keep me upright on the river. They also prolong the life of the felt soles!

4 EdwardE
The studs were exactly what I needed for my new Flyweight boots. Easy to install with a simple 1/4 inch nut driver. You might consider including an installation template in the package, but that's just a very minor quibble. I simply copied the pattern on the sole of my G3 boots.

They are very comfy wearing them all day on the water. They 're also very grippy without any studs. They are true to size so make sure when you order them you order the correct size, I normally ordered size 11 which were snug and got 12s and they are a little bit big but still usable.

5 Jerry M.
Great for accessing hard to get honey holes without using changing shoes

5 Billy
Used them for a week long trip that was mostly walk/wading and in and out of a drift boat. The grip is great and the lightweight feel of the boots makes them very comfortable. Not much of a break in period though the ankles are a little stiff at first. Can definitely feel the softer inner sole grip the pointed rocks compared to the stiffer outer sole, which helps them feel a bit like hiking boots. Would highly recommend them.

These in the soles of your wader boots Allows you to focus on the fishing not on swimming while fishing!

5 RonH
A must have for my flyweight wading boots. Definitely gives me more bite. Low profile makes them easy to hike in as well. If properly installed they 're in for keeps.

5 MarcK
After fishing for a season without them, for safety I acquired 20 of these studs. Online I saw patterns of installation and with my cordless drill and the 1/4 ” socket, I had these done in 5- 10 min. Out on the water, walking on stream rocks was clearly safer and I did not need to use my collapsible walking staff to feel secure.

5 ThomasM
I fly fish on the rivers in the southeast. There is always mossy rocks that we are walking on and after slipping and falling several times I purchased the HardBite Wading Boot Studs for my wading boots. I have not fallen since. I feel much more stable because I am not slipping at all. They are easy to install.

5 JamesC
When in Alaska I was slipping on the moss on the rocks and the guide was not. I noticed later in the hunt he had the studs in his boots and was getting around a lot easier. So now I have them:). I haven ’ t tried them myself but have seem in action.

I have been using these cleats for years, would n't go out on the water without them, especially in winter. I fish a lot and they do wear out a little faster than the hard bite cleats but provide for great traction.

5 Aaron S.
The boots have a bit of a bigger style then the freestones that I ’ ve been wearing for the past couple of years, the g3 seem to run a tad bigger in the same size. Love that the boots came with a second pair of laces but kinda bummed my orange pair broke the second outing with them. Studs were perfect! Loved that I was able to try these boots. Hoping to get a pair of the wet wading shoes for my honeymoon in Hawaii to chase after some GT and bones🤙🏼

5 Katharina M.
The cleats were amazing for our boat- based fieldwork. They gave me confidence getting in and out of boats on slippery, seaweed covered rocks for bird surveys. Would 10/10 recommend!

5 Matthew W.
I love AlumiBite Star Cleats. They offer very good traction and are softer on boat floors than carbide. The only knock I have on them is that they are a little spendy. I max my boots out with cleats, so I buy 2 boxes and replace once a year which adds up.

Great Boots. Lightweight, Waterproof, quick drying.

5 Jonathan N.
After reading the reviews, and finally using the boots for 6 days in CA, everything is true about how light weight they feel and the comfort added from the thoughtful lacing system! Also a plus is they don ’ t look bulky. I ended up getting vibrams since I have felt g3s too, but If I were to do it all over again I ’ d probably get a second pair of these in felts.

Boots were lite and comfortable. Easy to get on and off and provided plenty of support.

Replacing my older Sims boots after many years of trudging to duck lines and fishing the Stanislaus river.

Frequently Asked Questions For Simms Boot Cleats

When selecting boot cleats for fishing, consider features such as traction, durability, and compatibility with your wading boots. Look for cleats that provide excellent grip on slippery surfaces, such as rocks and mud, to enhance stability while wading. Additionally, materials that resist wear and corrosion will ensure longevity in various water conditions.

Choosing the right type of boot cleats depends on the fishing environment you plan to encounter. For rocky or uneven terrain, cleats with aggressive treads or spikes can provide better traction. In contrast, felt-soled cleats are ideal for slippery surfaces, while rubber cleats may be more versatile for various conditions.

Boot cleats are often designed to fit specific brands or models of wading boots, so compatibility can vary. It's important to check the manufacturer's specifications to ensure that the cleats you choose will securely attach to your boots. Some brands may offer universal options, but always confirm fit before purchasing.

Boot cleats are typically made from materials like rubber, aluminum, or carbide, each offering different performance characteristics. Rubber cleats provide good traction and are less abrasive to surfaces, while aluminum and carbide options offer superior grip and durability in tough conditions. The choice of material can significantly impact your stability and safety while fishing.

To maintain your boot cleats, regularly inspect them for wear and damage, especially after fishing trips. Clean them after use to remove mud, sand, and debris that can cause deterioration. Proper storage in a dry place can also help prevent rust and prolong the life of your cleats.
