I ’ m glad there are alternatives to lead more widely available now. I haven ’ t fished in a few years but now I ’ m teaching my kids. Initially I was concerned that the tin would be too light but by the chart I saw on another brand, it ’s just one size larger for split shots. These sinkers were easy enough to close by hand but I used pliers to crimp them anyway. They will not slip on your line easily when crimped. I expect each split shot can be used several times but the tin is not as durable so it deformed rather quickly. My only real complaint is the case. It ’s rigid brittle plasticis the same case for the last 60 years. It would be great if Eagle Claw used a softer plastic that can take a hit, and put number etches in the mold so you know which sizes are which for refilling. Usage note: I left the removable tab in the plastic. It slows down the flow of sinkers so you only get a couple instead of 20 at a time. Enjoy.

Can ’ t go wrong with a set like this. Split shots are a me of the most common tool a fisherman should have. They snap on quickly and snap off very easily too. Great for light fishing, they get the job done specially in shallow waters when you don ’ t want to snap on a heavy sinker. This kit brings different oz of split shots giving you many weights to choose from for the type of fishing you want to do.

Frequently Asked Questions For Tin Split Shot

Tin split shots are small weights used in fishing to help sink bait or lures to the desired depth. They can be easily attached to fishing lines and are ideal for various fishing techniques, including bottom fishing and float fishing. Their design allows for quick adjustments to the weight based on water conditions and fish behavior.

Tin split shots offer several advantages, including being environmentally friendly compared to lead alternatives. They are less toxic and safer for aquatic life, making them a popular choice among eco-conscious anglers. Additionally, tin is durable and resistant to corrosion, ensuring long-lasting performance in various water conditions.

Choosing the right size of tin split shot depends on factors such as the type of fishing you are doing, the weight of your bait, and the water conditions. Lighter split shots are suitable for finesse presentations, while heavier ones are better for deeper waters or stronger currents. It's often helpful to have a variety of sizes on hand to adapt to changing conditions.

Yes, tin split shots can be reused multiple times if handled carefully. To store them, keep them in a tackle box or container that prevents them from getting damaged or tangled with other tackle. This will help maintain their shape and functionality for future fishing trips.

To apply tin split shots to your fishing line, simply pinch them onto the line at the desired location. It's important to ensure they are securely attached without damaging the line. Some anglers prefer to use removable split shots, which allow for easy adjustments during fishing.
