I 've owned a lot of jackets over the years. Helly Hansen, Eddie Bauer, Spyder, Khul, Mammut, etc. This is by far the warmest jacket I 've ever owned. Even at 30- 35 degrees( F) I sometimes find myself unzipping it as it is too much insulation. I 've worn it out to about 5 degrees with only a light sweater under it and was not even slightly cold. There are more technical jackets out there if you 're looking for backcountry skiing stuff but if you 're just looking for something to keep you warm around town, winter hiking, or sledding with your kids, you ca n't beat this. Also looks great and super comfortable.

Love this jacket. Bought the medium but unfortunately due to the mid- life spread it was too tight around the mid drift, so that one to a friend. Bought another in large, fits like a glove and both of us have gotten some good wear out of these already. An absolute perfect jacket, I would love to see Fjallraven make this a full winter jacket with extra insulation similar to the Nuuk Parka, then it would be an absolute beast of a jacket.

This jacket was bought gor me as a gift about a month ago and I think I 've worn it every day since, through November into December, in a wet and Stormy Wales. The medium fits my 5'11 '' frame perfectly. Warmth is n't an issue. I 've worn the jacket with only a t shirt beneath, in windy, freezing temps, with no issue at all. Lots of handy pockets and a hood that works best with a hat worn beneath. Regarding rain. I 'm not going to wear the jacket for prolonged rain. But for showers or drizzle my unwaxed jacket works just fine. For the time being I 'm not going to wax it, as I like the way the jacket looks and I do n't want to change that. I got this jacket a month ago and since I ’ ve used it during heavy rain in the city and during winter mountain climbs. I can say I ’ ve had no issues with the waterproofing. In the winter mountain, this jacket became irreplaceable for me. Being so light and breathable is such a game changer- I sweat much less, less need to stop for water and I feel much less exhausted. It ’s packing small, so it ’s super easy to fit it in the external pockets of a backpack, so you don ’ t waste any unnecessary time- game changer when you are in the winter mountain. The pockets are awesome and the jacket is super comfortable. I was worried about the Velcro on the cuffs, since a lot of jackets will loosen and let air in between the cuff and your gloves, but the Velcro works super well and gives you a solid locked- in feeling. Last but not least, it beats off strong winds like it ’s nothing. This feature helps you dress lighter, move faster, and get tired less. This jacket improved my performance per unit of effort in the mountain, which is essential since most mistakes happen out of exhaustion. Really happy about my purchase!

The single best jacket I 've ever owned. The fabric is simply a slam dunk and the technical design is on point. Enough room for movement and the sleeves are long enough to use it on a bike aswell. I would like to see a jacket with the cut and features of the Skogso Jacket in the Eco- Shell fabric. I would then have a jacket to wear all year, anywhere.

I was tired of always getting completely soaked every time I went out in the rain. I had been in the market for a high quality shell and something that was not Gore- Tex( as it is terrible for the environment). I knew that Fjallraven made high quality outdoor gear that was environmentally friendly and sustainable. So I purchased this and have not been disappointed. I have been out in some miserable weather and have had stayed completely dry. My only gripe is the adjusters that cinch the hood down- I have a long neck and sometimes they do not stay in place if you are moving around a lot.

Purchased my Raven in Dusk last summer, and used it last fall, and getting a lot of use this spring for everyday outdoor use as advertised. It was my first purchase with the brand, and I love the jacket after years of never having a suitable transition jacket. Although I normally fit in size large, the medium fits great on me( 5' 9, 190lbs), with ample space for layering. I 'm from Ottawa, Canada and I 've found that the jacket excels in the 5C- 18C range, depending on conditions. With good layering like my down vest and/or merino base layers, I 've worn it down to 0C if there's not too much windchill, but around there I tend to switch to my Greenland Winter. Not much experience in anything more than light rain for short periods. Fit, fasteners, colour, and design/style are my favourite aspects of the jacket. Minor points, but a metal zipper and slightly lower collar without the hidden hood that I do n't expect to use would have made this jacket perfect, but it does n't bother me, and I look forward to many years of use!

I wear this on my windshieldless moto going 70- 89 mph and it does the job on windblocking. When it rained, it keep deflecting rain. I wear a merino thermal, my casual, moto protective shirt, and my thermal heated liner, which I do n't have to turn on the heated liner at these temps because of the windblocking and having gear insulate the heat inside. I love this field jacket; my favorite jacket. I want to buy a more expensive jacket here, but this one was beautiful to pass up. Its big for sure for my 5' 5 stature at Medium, but I have full range of motion with all my gear on underneath and that's awesome. Buy it! worth it!

Great jacket for those of us living in the Southeast US. was able to wear comfortably down to around 50 degrees F with only a lightweight cotton flannel shirt underneath. You can go much colder if you have a suitable insulation or base layer underneath. I bought in dusk for a classic style yet unique colorway that stands out among your standard olive or khaki surplus jackets. The G1000 softens up a bit with wear. Supposedly water resistant, but I would caution against wearing if more than a light sprinkle is in the forecast.

Probably my favourite fleece. I own two. My first in dark olive is about 5 years old stood up well through outdoors work and chores got a bit bobbled but I gave it a shave not long ago and it looks as good as new. Second is a Navy one bout a year old I save for best. No bobbling or damage looks great both wash well and have good warmth. I Keep checking back for a black one but to no avail.

This pack- down hoodie meets all the requirements. Firstly, the craftsmanship is impeccable. I am 5 ’ 6 ” athletic- built and wear a large size, and I can confirm that it is true to size. I appreciate its packability and versatility, as it can be worn with a base layer or a shell on top, enabling it to withstand temperatures as low as the single digits. I ordered the flame orange/uni blue color, which is visually appealing and would be a worthwhile purchase before it sells out. This puffy is best used for around 0 C to 5 C in dry weather, in sub zero temps it may not be warm enough. The fabric is soft and comfy to touch with a nice fleece lining on chin and neck area to keep that area warm and also helps if you have a beard. I 'm about 170 cm, 66 kg and a small fit too tight in the chest and armpits, medium fits well relaxed with room to layer, the sleeves are just a bit long. The hood and collar have nice coverage to keep head and neck warm. Personally, I do n't mind the yellow shoelace, it does n't get in the way much. A great feature is the double zipper which allows you to vent heat without taking the jacket off.

I live in the Western mountains of Maine beside the White Mountain National Forest. We get spooky weather here. It was a brittle- 10° when I got up at 0530. I threw my Expedition Pack Down Hoodie on over just a merino wool base layer. Something I wear 24/7 in the winter here. I was quite comfortable outside. I 'm not going to lie, my face stung from the cold. A quick pull, a tug or two here and there and voila! Now it was tolerable which is enough! I 'm 69. I 've been through a few jackets in my lifetime. I can tell within 5 minutes whether a jacket will do the job and stand up to wear. This was a treat to myself. I have gone through so many winters with barely adequate clothing. This year I finally figured out how to dress. This jacket is superb. It handled some rather high wind the other day better than I expected. I HATE feeling that cold wind blow right through a jacket! Look, I found myself just wanting to go for a walk the other day just so I could wear it! I love the length in the back. Not keeping your butt covered is asking for trouble! Love the arm length which SHOULD be a tad longer than normal to ensure no `` pull up '' around your wrists. Love way you can pull this jacket around your body. Everything is adjusted just for me! Any jacket like this really shines with proper layer material. It's no secret but, just go with wool. Period. A wool base layer( I go with the thickest I can find) is the key. I quite often wear just my wool base layer for a shirt. Job well done Fjallraven!

It was in my pack from start to finish—through wind, potential snow forecasts, high elevation chill, and the chance of mountain rain. Here ’s what stood out: Weight- to- Performance Ratio: At just over 14 oz, it ’s light enough to justify space in a thru- hiker ’s pack, especially when ounces count. I didn ’ t need it often, but when I did—especially on Whitney summit morning—it delivered. Layered above my puffy, the Ascentshell acted as a critical wind- blocking barrier in sub- freezing temps. [ I came across this jacket when searching for a synthetic alternative to my down jacket for backpacking. And while it's maybe just a little too heavy and bulky for my ultralight goals, I bought it because I liked it so much in general( tried in on in a store, bought it on Mossejaw). And now I wear it anytime the weather's a little chilly. It's warm, a great fit-- not too tight, not too baggy-- and the material just feels great. I 've also had it out in light rain for half an hour or so, and nothing soaked in. So it really is at least a little water repellent. Only con is, I do n't like the double, left- handed zipper, but I 'll get used to it. And who knows, maybe I 'll end up bringing it on a backpacking trip, since I like it so much. I needed a lightweight rain jacket that was also easy to carry when not wearing. This jacket is perfect though it does run a tad big. Normally a large fits me sometimes even a medium but this jacket in a large is a bit oversized. Still very satisfied with its lightweight feel and packability.

I live in Portland OR and I need a rain jacket for everyday life. This Jacket is great in the outdoors, but is n't too hot or steamy to wear inside. The pit zips are perfect if you are getting down to business and need to vent. the material is amazingly soft and helps to make it your favorite gear at a grasp out the door. large fits me great, 5' 7 170lbs.

This is a fantastic lightweight and packable rain jacket. Very nicely constructed with sealed seem zippers as. Highly recommend to anyone wanting something light and not at all bulky. I use it a lot on the river fishing for those cooler early mornings to break the wind and obviously it protects from the rain.
