The Nishiki 24in Colorado has Modern MTB frame Geometry. The bike profile has a balanced smooth sleek appearance that you usually do n't see in bikes of this price range. The front suspension coil spring fork is heavy but works well. It can be upgraded to a lighter air spring fork. The 7 speed components with a rapid fire shifter works well and what is expected at this price range. An 8 speed would have been better but cost more. The wheel rims are double wall aluminum which means they can be converted to `` Tubeless '' making them almost flat proof. The wheel bearings are the old `` cup and cone '' standard. I had to adjust the bearing preload on both wheels to get them to spin freely with little to no resistance. My 9 year old Granddaughter's first ride on the bike coming off an old lead sled bike was impressive for her.

I bought this bike and immediately had to return it( 5 minutes later) after I learned the seat would not lower when I tried to load it into my car which ruined the whole reason I bought the bike. The seat was going to be too high for my daughters even though it was setup to lower( bad design). The staff was extremely helpful and gave me a full refund. I did end up buying 2 bikes of the Boy/Girl versions which is a very similar bike to the Youth and have worked great for both my daughters. However, the lowering of the seat Boy/Girl version is much easier than it is on this Youth bike. After doing some research and talking to a couple of Dick's employee the seat does lower if you take out the water bottle holder screws, but you lose the water bottle holder. There is 2 water bottle spots on this bike but the other one is too high and would only hold a very small bottle. Long story short the water bottle holder spots in my opinion are a design flaw. I would recommend the Boy/Girl Version of this bike over the Youth version. Also it is hard to tell online but the gear shifting is different on the Youth version compared to the Boy/Girl Version. Still a great bike but the whole seat lowering/water bottle holder placement is an issue.

Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. These shorts helped a lot with my 2 hour bike ride this weekend—no discomfort at all! I was also pleased with the fit. I ’ m 5 ’ 6 ”, 160lbs with most of the weight carried in my thighs, so I often have trouble finding shorts that don ’ t squeeze too much and don ’ t ride up. These were long enough that they grabbed my thigh at the narrowest part by the knee, and didn ’ t ride up because of the nonslip band around the leg opening. These have a mid rise, which is not what I normally go for because I ’ m afraid they will fall down, but these stayed put! I got a size M for reference.

Up grading the heavy coil spring fork is not a problem with the tapered head tube to a light weight air spring fork will shave 5 lbs. off the bike. The rear wheel hub is a 141mm qr. is a limiting factor. No through axel. You can up grade to a 11 speed on the stock rear wheel. a new rear wheel with a Shimano wh- mt500 hub with microsline free wheel will get you 12 speed. The bike is light and fast and fun to ride. I really wanted a helmet with MIPS, and liked the look and comfort of this helmet( sleeker than the original Isode), but simply could n't make it fit. The straps are sewn at a fixed point where they meet under the ear, rather than having an adjustable clip as most other helmets do. When the chin clip was adjusted to the correct length, the front strap came down an inch in front of my ears, and the `` Y joint '' was at my jaw rather than under my ears. The strap system pulls through the back, so all Giro needed to do was add a clip under the ear on the right side. The straps are softer than on cheaper models, adding to the comfort factor.
