What I like best about the boots is that I am sure footed when working on steep grades, in mud, and in thick bushes. I bought these online for my daughter a half size larger than her usual size, and they were too small. I returned them via FedEx pick up for free with ease, and ordered the next size up. Buy these shoes every year for our daughter. I believe this will be her 4th pair. They keep her feet warm& dry. Our temp here in the PNW doesn ’ t get too low( lowest around 20 degrees), so I can ’ t vouch for how it would do in the single digits. They fit true to size. They are a bit stiff in the ankles the 1st day of wear, but still comfy. I have the adult version& love how cozy& comfortable they are for hiking in the snow or cold rain. I buy them a half size larger than I do even my regular boots( 1/2 size up for semi- thick socks, full size up for extra thick socks) to accommodate very thick& fuzzy Columbia socks( so cozy!), but our daughter doesn ’ t like to wear super thick socks, so I buy her regular size. These boots can withstand a lot of use without showing much wear. Each year we give away her outgrown boots& they barely look used. They are somewhat heavy, but to us they just feel stable( great ankle support& solid traction for mud& snow& cushy insoles!)& not cumbersome.

These boots do run a little small, so after returning a couple of pairs( they were out of stock in stores, so we had to have them shipped each time)- we finally got it right. He is a normal size youth 5. 5- and we ended up with a size youth 7 for these boots. We went with the all black. Quality boots and `` fuzzy '' inside like my son wanted. They are a little heavier, but I guess with larger feet and quality materials, weight is gained on footwear. They keep his feet dry and warm when out in WI winters- so we are happy.

I bought these 2 months ago for my 9 year old and 11 year old. We hiked through streams in the mountains and they were completely waterproof. My 11 year old told me they have to be tied all the way to keep the water out. Used them for sledding in the snow and no wetness inside! Both kids said they were the most comfortable snow boots.
