In the past I had a few bad experiences with Daiwa fishing gear and as a result was skeptical of their products for years. Then a couple months ago I bought a couple Daiwa reels that impressed me for carp fishing and they were so sturdy and solid and casted so well that I use them for saltwater as well. While the reels were up to the challenge for surf fishing my Carp rods were not so I picked up 2 of these 11 Daiwa surf rods and am so glad I did. They feel so good and solid and cast beautifully. I love this rod for a rod under a 100 bucks in the 70 dollar range. Its got great action been throwing med size crankbait. Great square bill rod good action have n't cought any monsters but lot's of 1 to 2 and half pound bass. Very acrute when throwing. I got some higher end set ups. But got this pared with a abu garcia black max reel with 10 pound florocarbon line. I got a 150 in reel rod and line and I pick it up as much as my 350 to 450 dollar set ups and will hang with them.

I have several of these rods both baitcasting and spinning. For the price they are a very good product. Do n't blame the rod for the inability to cast for distance or accuracy. It takes a good combination of rod, reel and line. I use them for Snakehead fishing and have never had a problem yanking them out of the junk.

Assuming you do your research and make sure your lure weights fall into the recommended range, this rod loads up and casts like a dream.
