This is similar to the Mytsery Tackle Box, which I also think is a great gift. But I am very happy I bought this as a Christmas gift for my father, for serendipitous reasons. Storytime: every May, he and I take a guided weekend fishing trip up to Lake St. Clair. We always bring and use our own tackle, and last trip our guide took us to a spot we had never fished before. It was weedy, and I ended up throwing a weedless jig I had in my tackle box, which matched the color that we always have the most success( e. g. Rapala Blue Ghost color). It was a swim jig, and I added a Powerbait craw trailer. In that one section, I landed a dozen bass in the 2- 4 pound range. It was very weedy with a lot of slop, and the jig moved perfectly through everything without getting hung up, or getting covered in slop with each cast. The problem was that( a) I only had one jig of that type and color; and( b) I had ZERO IDEA of the brand! I spent many hours online afterwards trying to find the exact jib for purchase, with zero luck... until my father opened the Rapala Bass Boom Box. As he pulled each item out... he took out the EXACT jig I used( climax: it is the Thunder Hawk Mouse Head Grass Jig). This shows one of the great aspects of these Boxes: you will get things you might never have thought of trying- or even knew existed!

I only use artificial lures to target a certain species. I bought the zoom 6 '' super salty lizard watermelon red today. I went out this evening and caught my biggest bass. Cast it about 2 feet past the cattails and about 20 yards out. I was along the bank. Reeled it in about 5 yards and BAM!!!! I caught a 6. 3 pound largemouth after about a 5- 7 minute fight! paddle tail swimbaits rigged with a jig head are often the first baits i throw when fishing for bass. Just so happens it was the only bait i threw all day over the weekend. These produced hits from both largemouth bass and northern in ultra clear water and murky. I was using the sight flash color and it worked great. They do tear easy but are worth the constant action I have experience with them. I usually rig them with a 1/4 oz jig head with the hook through the top, works like a charm!

Bought and used these this past spring and caught a lot of bass. Easy to rig and use on leadhead jigs. Soft, so they have great action. Only problem is that the tails get bitten off easily. The package says they are squid scented. Apparently fresh water fish like that scent. After catching the bass in the photo, my friend also caught a 2+ pound trout! A tad pricey, but they catch fish, so worth it.

I 've been using Zoom products for several years now and use the swimmin chunk as a trailer on a 1/4 ounce jig and also a 3/8 ounce jig. i usually dip the legs in a chartreuse garlic dye, and most of my jigs are a shade of green( usually a green crawfish) not sure if the bass see this as a bluegill or crawfish; only that it catches fish!! i fish an extremely clear, fairly deep lake so detail is very important.
