The Switchback Expert has better frame geometry compared to a Trek Marlin. Up grading the heavy coil spring fork is not a problem with the tapered head tube to a light weight air spring fork will shave 5 lbs. off the bike. The rear wheel hub is a 141mm qr. is a limiting factor. No through axel. You can up grade to a 11 speed on the stock rear wheel. a new rear wheel with a Shimano wh- mt500 hub with microsline free wheel will get you 12 speed. The bike is light and fast and fun to ride. Sale price of$ 550 is hard to beat.

I 've been purchasing Camelbak packs going on 16 years and now have at least one designated to each activity I do; running, MTB, Cycling, Hiking, and working outside. I would say I still love the fit and durability of each different style I have( the one I use for working outside is the first Rogue I purchased in 2008), and I 'm really happy Camelbak finally upgraded the bite valve design, but the added magnetic clip placement still needs a more permanent home to affix to on the shoulder strap or chest strap, or something. When the only place to affix it to is somewhere along the adjustable side of the chest strap it's just never in a constant place to mindlessly clip it back in. Otherwise, I 'm still a loyal and satisfied user.

[ I wear eyeglasses and I 've been using this for winter commuting. I had to switch to a narrower pair of glasses( a spare pair I had) because it was a little too tight, but with the right pair it avoids fogging up my glasses and keeps my face warm. I 've worn these even when riding at dawn — it does n't reduce the amount of light, it just gives everything more contrast. It's literally a rose- tinted lens, but it makes a big difference. I sometimes wear it when I 'm driving my car( yes, I look like a HUGE dork) because it helps with glare and coping with poor contrast on gray winter days.

I 've tried quite a few MTB jerseys over the years, and this one is by far the best. It's lightweight and breathable, seemingly durable( have n't crashed yet, so I ca n't say for sure), and the UPF sun protection makes a black jersey feel cool even in direct sunlight. The sleeves are sufficiently long( I 'm 6' 2 '' and wear a size small, so this is often an issue), and I like that the cuffs are n't fitted. Having the integrated lens cloth in the front of the jersey makes it easier to use, but could stand to be a little larger.

This jersey fits really well and is breathable enough for days up to around 75° with some sun. The material is strong enough to withstand some rock/tree abrasions. The fit feels great and is tight enough to not have a ton of flapping, but not so tight that I feel like I can ’ t move.

So I purchased the Topeak Mini P20 to toss in my frame bag. It's compact enough that it does n't take up a lot of space, and the neoprene pouch is great. It not only is a beautiful blue color, but it has front and rear spring loaded suspension as well as is set up at a 1x9, having 1 front gear and 9 rear gears. The bike came extremely well packaged as well with extra plastic pieces to protect vital parts like the front brake rotor and the bottom of the front suspension. Straight out of the box there is some setup which could definitely be daunting to beginners, but it wasn ’ t too hard and the bike comes with instructions for setup as well as information for getting help setting up your new bike. Once setup, I played around with the shifting and found the derailleur shifted very smoothly through the 9 gears with little problem. This bike also came with flat pedals which was nice because most bikes I have purchased have not included pedals. As an experienced mountain biker I really appreciated all the features and the overall quality of this bike. I think this bike would be perfect for any beginner looking to start their journey into mountain biking. It is very solid aluminum and would be a great learner bike. I am excited for the weather to get better here in the Midwest so I can truly take this bike out on the trails and try it out!
