At 5'2 '' I was a little concerned this jacket would swallow me up, but the fit it perfect and the thing I most love is the belt. It creates a nice silhouette. I like that it has the Omni- heat foil on the inside, which was the main reason I bought it as it can get as low as 9 degrees where I live. I wasn ’ t aware of the “ Outgrown ” thing and was pleasantly surprised to learn about it as I was checking out the jacket. This past weekend I assisted in the rescue 7 people who were capsized in a pontoon boat. I dove into the water with phone and all in the pocket of this jacket. After the scary event ended I took my phone out of my pocket and was shocked to still see the phone screen activated! The phone still needed about 7 hours to completely dry out and let me charge it but it ’s completely fine now. Got a blue Ghost Whisperer when it was 50% off( when they introduced the new blue color). Last night I decided to really push the temperature range and wore it for a decent walk in 5 Degree(- 15 Wind Chill) temps. I was wearing an undershirt, button down, and the ghost whisperer with hat and scarf and was pretty comfortable the whole time. Many down jackets with smother you with heat no matter how light they are, but this one does not do that. I am going top use this for winter golf as a layering piece. I normally wear a medium and this one I ordered a large so I can put a fleece underneath and still swing a golf club- this one is spot on. find a layer that can work for golf and keep you warm is a rare find. This one is super versatile.

I was scrambling last minute to find a coat for our November trip to Grand Canyon, Zion, and Moab with lows at night in the 12- 27'F range and but also keep my not too warm during hikes between 30- 50'F. This coat was great. I had strategic layers including the Tri Thermal Threads Tunic from Prana 2020 at night. I hate being cold, and was pleased at the performance of this jacket. I even regretted not wearing it one morning on one hike. Back home in Indiana, I 'll keep wearing this until it feels more wintery. It is lightweight, truly stretchy, and breaks the wind.

[ Excellent insulated jacket, been waiting for Carhartt to make something like this for years. Warm, light, flexible, and not too bulky. Similar to synthetic insulated hoody's you find from outdoor companies like Patagonia, Arc'teryx, etc... but with a slightly thicker outer layer and more reasonable price tag. can be used as a mid or outer layer. It wo n't be the most durable outer layer, but durable outer layers or heavy and restricting, this is not.

I was impressed with this jacket from the moment I received it. Even before wearing it, I could see that the attention to detail and quality is top- notch. The stitching, the inside seams, and the quality of materials all look and feel great right off the bat. I was not disappointed when I took this on my first rainy hike. Water beaded up nicely on the outside of the shell and the pit zips came in very handy as I started heating up. I really like that the material has a somewhat soft feel to it- its not slick like other rain jackets I 've worn in the past. The material is much quieter when moving as well. I also got several complements on the jacket from some fellow hikers( I have the Cenote version- I love the color combo!) My one wish is that that the hood brim had a little more heft to it. A slightly stiffer brim would be nice during heavy rain or windy conditions. Overall I highly recommend this jacket. Its lightweight, waterproof, and a great value given the outstanding quality and overall performance.
