I just received this jacket today and I 'm super happy with it after only trying it on! I 'm 5'11 '', about 165- 170, athletic build and the large fits perfectly! I have a little extra length in the arms, which I love because it is a rarity. I feel like I have just enough room that I could wear a crewneck underneath without problem, but it's not bulky without layers. And it's long enough that it covers my bottom! I 'm usually between a medium and a large and I would not size down for a medium in this jacket.

This jacket is more than I could have hoped for. I operate a snowplow at a ski resort at night during storms clearing parking lots. When I get out of the tractor into what is frequently a howling blizzard, this keeps me warm, sealed and protected. It's loose enough that I can wear layers underneath if it's really cold and the whole thing is lined with nylon so there is no binding at all. The hood and zipper come up to just the right place on my chin to be functional without hindering. And when it's wet snow or rain, it runs right off and I stay dry. Amazingly comfortable. There is nothing about this jacket that I do n't like. Bravo Carhartt!

The material of the black one is slightly different, though, and is a little stiff and noisy( reason for 4, not 5 stars). I ’ m sure it will soften up with time. This jacket is so lightweight and comfortable! I was looking for something with UPF 50 for my walks in the warmer weather. Total bonus that it ’s packable. I throw it in my motorcycle backpack for day trips. Runs true to size. I bought a large, and I ’ m 5 ’ 9 ” 165lbs with long arms and broad shoulders. Arms are plenty long, which is rare. Also totally love the hood, nice and big, will easily fit over a baseball cap. I highly recommend this jacket!
