Jacket is very stylish, as you would expect from Free People. Oversized and lovely. I got the yellow jacket and in the picture it looks almost like a mustard color, but in reality it ’s a light butter color. Loved it even more.

Love this so much! Definitely recommend going down a size. The sleeves are not flattering being oversized. They do band at the wrist so it looks funky if it ’s too big. Online agent assisted me with the switch+ I love the smaller size! It ’s worth it to get the right fit. This is a good one!

[ I ’ m in surgical menopause& am constantly trying to strike the right balance between being too hot or too cold. This jacket is absolutely perfect. It ’s lightweight enough to e breathable but at the same time the Omni- tech heating feature kept me warm during a hike. Love that it ’s waterproof as well( walked in rain& I was completely dry). I have been waiting for a hooded version of a packable puffer that was still cute, and after enjoying other Halfdays products for skiing, I was excited when I saw this in their spring collection this year. This jacket arrived several weeks ago and has been great for everything I 've thrown at it! It has kept me warm, dry, and cute on rainy commutes to work, mulching my garden, and taking my dog on a field trip to our local forest preserves. It has been comfortable in temps as low as 35 and as high as 65 or so for me, personally. I love how lightweight it is, and that is compacts down if it warms up during the day and I need to pack it away for my commute home. It is also roomy enough for layering underneath, and I enjoy the big pocket for storage in the back. 10/10 would recommend.

I am obsessed with the Bessie Packable Jacket. It ’s everything I didn ’ t know I needed — lightweight, incredibly warm for how thin it is, and so easy to travel with. I love how it packs into itself and even turns into a pillow( seriously genius for flights or road trips). The fit is relaxed but still flattering, and the cinch at the waist gives it shape when I want it. I ’ ve worn it in rain, wind, and chilly mornings, and it holds up perfectly. The recycled materials are a huge plus — I feel good wearing it in more ways than one! Also, shoutout to the pockets — there are more than enough and they ’ re actually functional. This jacket goes everywhere with me now. Can ’ t recommend it enough!

This jacket definitely rivals my Patagonia nanopuffer in warmth and comfort. The color is a perfect shade of brown IMO. I 'm 5'10 '' and it hits right at my waist. I wound up going with a size small because it's rather boxy( I 'm usually a M/L). Great travel jacket that packs down into nothing. Even wore it out into the rain and I stayed remarkably dry. Granted, I was running from the car to the store, but enough that I would 've felt it had it not been water resistant. I would definitely recommend. This brand is new to me, but I 'm now excited to see what else they got cookin'.

After getting through a NYC December/January where conditions ranged from 40F with heavy rain to nearly 10F with strong wind and snow, I can officially say I love this jacket. It ’s very stylish and the warm adjustable hood is a highlight. I prefer the flexibility of having a versatile “ lighter ” jacket that can get through three seasons but this jacket isn ’ t super light. When it got down into the 20s, I just layered with a light insulated vest and the jacket remained effective. I don ’ t understand some of the complaints in other reviews… two- way zippers are always a little more difficult to zip up but with the longer length of the jacket, it ’s well worth it. And no, my arms didn ’ t get cold in the jacket either.

Johnny Matrix
I purchased this jacket to replace a Skogso. I wanted something that was waterproof and with a bit more cover. This jacket is fantastic. I live in the PNW and we have damp `` cold '' weather.( rarely below freezing.) so this jacket is better suited for here the the standard Nuuk Parka.
5
Jacob
The jacket is great! Reviews regarding double zipper, not true. You just need to learn how to zip it:)( or do you still wear shoes with Velcro?:) Zipper is great if you need to unzip jacket from the bottom. Very warm, length is great, hood is adjustable so you can actually see something when walk. Highly recommended! Great product, runs a big larger than other brands.
5
deckhopper
This jacket is super high quality and is warm, waterproof and windproof. I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ”, 190lbs, athletic build. The Men ’s size medium fits perfect, with room for layers without being too small or too big. It is long below the waist so there is a double zipper to allow you to manuever into your car or a chair without pulling the jacket up to your waist. I removed the faux fur from my hood, it comes off easily with buttons. The fur just wasn ’ t my style. A few people complained about the double zipper, which is plastic( not metal), and is a YKK branded zipper. I ’ ve had no issues with the double zipper. Someone complained about the arm length. There are velcro cuffs so you can control how low you want the cuffs to go. No issues for me there. Bonus: there are two zippered hidden pockets, one on the inside of the main vertical zipper and one on the outside of the zipper. This outside pocket allows you to access items without unzipping the coat. Another bonus: there are two large pockets on the inside of the coat large enough to store ski googles. I happily store my winter scarf in there for when the temperature drops down and the wind picks up. Chest- level hand warmer pockets are comfortable and fantastic for walking or standing in the cold. I wore this coat for a trip in Seattle during the cold and rainy October season and it kept the wind and rain at bay, no wind or water got through. I ’ ve wearing this coat here in Orlando, FL for the cold winter months and have stayed quite warm and cozy! Keep in mind, this is the “ Nuuk Lite Insulated ” version so it ’s perfect for Seattle or Orlando. Fjallraven makes a warmer version called “ Nuuk Insulated ” which is probably more suited to arctic places like snowy parts of Canada or New England. I highly recommend!

[ I bought this in Nov 2020 because I was looking for a lightweight winter jacket that I can wear as my primary jacket. I was worried it would n't be warm enough because it's not down but I can say that for non- active use, you could probably be comfortable in it down to 32 F or so. If you 're outdoors for extended periods of time( e. g. Standing outside for the bus/train, long walks), you might want something a little warmer. But for typical Philly/NYC winters, I think this is great. I also have a Fjallraven parka for when it's colder. If you 're being somewhat active, you could wear this comfortably in even colder temps. It does a good job of insulating the heat you generate from biking, jogging, brisk walking, etc. The fit is perfect for me! I have a long torso for someone my height( 5' 8 '') but it's nice and long, so I 'd guess that if you 're tall and skinny, this jacket would be great. For short torso people, it might feel long. The jacket looks great and feels like a great quality product. I hope to wear it for many years!

[ Really a great jacket. Fjallraven is always a great brand to support. I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ” and 190lbs and got a large and it fits great. [ I dig this jacket. I chose it over similar ones from Patagonia and Arcteryx because it does n't scream ALPINE, BRO! quite like those designs. The shell has a matte finish and the blue color I got is a classic dark navy. It's cut somewhat slim and a size large is a good fit for my 6' 3 '', broad shoulder self. It just got foggy, rainy, and cool here in coastal New England and this is a perfect jacket for the weather.

This is the perfect puffer for where I live! Lightweight, casual, soft, but still really warm. The packable feature makes it super convenient for traveling. I love the slightly cropped, loose fit too!
5
Jamie M.
4. 5 stars. Usually a S or XS in jackets and glad I went XS it's still big enough to layer under. I wish they made an XXS because when I cinch this up to my preferred crop length there is some extra fabric that bunches around my mid section( I 'm 5ft 8 about 120lbs with long arms and torso) so I agree this is not might not be the best for very petite gals unless you want a baggier fit. Dolomite is a nice buttery sand color. Love the stitching pattern that gives a quilted look. Overall I ca n't wait for cooler weather and to travel with this puffer.
5
Julia
The best thing about this puffer is how warm and it and packable! I 've used it as pillow for road trips, camping, and travel. Great travel jacket and versatile. It does run big, I got my usual size small but could size down to an XS. I wear the Dolomite color for colorful outfits as a neutral and LOVE the yellow one if I want a pop of color.
5
Sara
I wanted to update my sizing review for something more detailed. If you plan to not wear layers and are extremely petite you can get away with sizing down. However, I actually think halfdays runs true to size. When trying the puffer and the Pieper together, the XS fit but it felt slight restrictive in the chest. For that reason, I actually am exchanging for my true to size small. The jacket fits true to size with an oversized feel. Since it's oversized anyway, sticking with your regular size will allow for more layering options. I recommend buying both sizes and seeing what you prefer because it ends up being a presence of fit. The peony color is the most accurate color so far.
5
Sara
I would give this jacket a 4. 9. Beware this jacket runs big. I read a couple other reviews from petite ladies who said this ran big and thank goodness I trusted them because as a normal size small, the extra small is perfect. Another thing I 've already reviewed about is the color accuracy is a major problem. Halfdays really needs to post unfiltered photos of all of their products. There is always usually a warm filter on the colors or it's been enhanced in editing. I wish instead of enhancing the color, they just made the product that color anyway. The sage color looks nothing like it does in the photos. It is a very very pale muted sage green and not the more bright pastrl sage green as pictures. It means more beige than it does green. If you 're a fan of the color seasons, this would be great for soft summers, but avoid the sage color if you 're a winter like me as I looked ghastly. Another heads up is that the zipper does tend to get stuck on the fabric like other reviewer's that says, which is a bit annoying and hopefully it wo n't damage the jacket. Be super careful when unzipping and zipping. Overall I bought it in black since its so lightweight and will be a great piece just to throw on but not worry about carrying a heavier jacket

I purchased this jacket a few weeks ago and brought it with me last week on a 3 day fly fishing trip in western NC. The temperatures at first light on the water were in the mid 30's and this jacket kept my core warm and cozy! I 'm 5 '' 10 160 pounds and the medium was a perfect fit. Plenty of room under the arms and chest area for layering, easily adjustable hood, and plenty of room in the front pockets and the interior pocket too. You also have a adjustable cord around the waist, though I did not need to adjust the fit. The fleece padding found on the interior near your neck, chin and mouth is brilliant! This soft material is fantastic when you need to zip the jacket completely up. This jacket is ethically sourced from 100% recycled polyamide and packs into its pocket or a small back. I 'm very happy with this purchase, well done FjallRaven!

This is by far the warmest and most comfortable puffy I ’ ve owned. Compared to other brands, this jacket has a higher collar and slightly longer sleeves and back which really seems to help hold the heat. It feels like great quality for a packable puffy. I ’ m 6 ’ 1, 180 lbs and size large fits well layered with a sweater.

I ’ m not sure why anyone gets cold in this jacket. I use this as my outer layer when I ski. All I need underneath is a tshirt and and an old sweatshirt and I ’ m perfect in 0°- 30°F weather. The temperature in Colorado has been hovering around 0°F the last few days, so on short excursions around, I stay plenty warm. Walking around campus this jacket is light and super comfortable. It allows me to not have to layer up much as it takes on the cold itself. It ’s also very durable for a down jacket, I ’ ve clipped trees and crashed hard when skiing, had dogs jump on me, cats claw me, and no damage so far.

[ Exactly what I was looking for! I ’ m bigger but short, so I hate how long jackets are on me when I would get bigger sizes. This fixes all of those issues! Since it ’s cropped it rests right at my hips and I have plenty of room to move around in it. It is a little big on my shoulders but I wouldn ’ t size down to a M. It ’s super comfy and warm, and I love the colors.

[ This jacket is very fashion forward and warm. I love the unique details, like the wave pattern stitching and the lining. As a 5 ’ 2 ” curvy person, I also love the cropped length. It hits me just at my hips. I found the relaxed fit to be very generous — I wear a medium on most jackets because I have a large bust and larger arms, but the medium was too large and the wrong proportion for my frame. I ended up going with a small

[ I think I 've found* the jacket* for me! Great for folks with bigger bodies like myself. Chic, roomy, and warm. I LOVE IT!!
5
MeowMom24
[ I am 5' 1 about 140lbs, big chest and have a very short torso. I normally wear a medium and bought the medium. I could definitely keep the medium since it fits comfortably roomy when zipped up, but I may return this for a small since I 'd like this to be just a smidgen smaller and more cinched. I bought the black version. I love the green on the jacket but I wish it was a different color ONLY because my complexion is pale and the reflection of the green against my skin makes my skin look dull and washed out. So I may exchange for a small or I may just return, but it's not due to the quality and appeal of the jacket itself, it's just me and my pale skin. 5/5 stars.

[[ Employee of columbia] I wore this to keep warm watching my kid play in an outdoor sports match. I did n't expect the rain. It poured on me- without an umbrella- for a solid 90 minutes. My jeans were soaked through. My sweatshirt underneath my coat was warm and completely dry.

[ I 'm absolutely in love with this product! The outer material has this futuristic, high- tech vibe that's just stunning. Plus, you can catch glimpses of the pure white down inside, which really enhances that luxurious feel.

I bought myself and my daughter this coat and wore it on our trip to Iceland. We both loved it. It was warm and kept us dry in a light rain. It also cleaned off easily as my daughter got mud on hers. It was very light weight and took up very little space in our bags. It fit very well and was comfortable for horseback riding, hiking, and walking around the city. We both loved how it looked too.

Very comfortable to wear in NC winters. ... [ Got this jacket two weeks ago for the New England winter and I am super happy with it- I am 6 foot something with 220 lb, so anyone my size will understand that I do NOT want a jacket where I am boiling on the inside...

Bought this recently, a week old review. Shipping was quick and efficient. With regards to the jacket, it keeps you warm and cosy even when there is a gust. Looks a bit handful but performs like a workhorse. The pockets are deep and well- thought positions. The hand pockets with warm liners are cosy when you forgot your gloves. The Hood is padded and adjustable so this eliminates the need for a beanie until unless is heavy gust or snow. There is enough space for both beanie and glove in case you choose to wear them with you along with the jacket. The secret pocket inside the chest is a good place for either mobile, cards, car keys or something valuable. A small elastic compartment in the outer chest pocket is for something like a go- to bag to keep keys secure and have quick access to. Overall build quality is excellent. Being used other fjallraven products longevity of their products is unparalleled. The arm length is a bit larger for me, Please take a measurement of yourself with all the inner layers( i. e- day to day clothing which you might be wearing inside the coat).

I was looking for a very warm, every day jacket. I usually buy ski gear type stuff.... something that you need to layer up and stay active to keep warm in. I was finally ready to buy a jacket that I could stay warm in when I was just standing around. After reading some of the reviews I was afraid that this was not the jacket I was looking for. I expected it not to be warm enough. I was wrong. This jacket is super warm. In 23° F with the wind and snow blowing, it's toasty warm with just a t shirt and flannel underneath. The design is awesome too. The hood is nice, there are pockets everywhere, it fits great, not too baggy, not too tight and it feels super durable while looking good for pretty much any occasion. I also tried a Singi wool padded parka thinking the Skogso would n't be warm enough. The Singi is amazingly warm but is overkill for daily wear where I live( our cold days are usually 0° to 25+° F). The Singi would be great for standing around in sub 0°F weather but is too bulky to wear every day for me.

I use this jacket as my daily driver for Ohio winters, where temperatures can sit right around the freezing point or drop into deep freeze throughout a single day. So far it has performed admirably in rain, snow, sleet, and whatever else it might chuck down at us poor midwesterners. I 'd advise picking up some Greenland wax and applying a couple coats at the beginning of winter, it improves an already good wind resistance and makes the G- 1000 practically waterproof. I 've been very impressed and plan to keep the jacket for a very long time. I use the jacket daily for walking the dog in any and all weather, and would n't hesitate to take it snowboarding, winter trekking, or commuting by bike. I did have one issue where the hem cinch stop popped off leaving the flex cord dangling out of the bottom of the jacket, but found it easy to repair since the cord is routed into the inner pockets. I just cut the frayed end and put the stop back on. Looks like it came brand new.

I bought this in both a medium& large... decided to keep the large even though I 'm petite because I want to be able to wear sweaters underneath. The Medium was a bit too fitted. 4 stars instead of 5 only because the white markings on the sleeve already peeled off after just wearing a few times.

The description is a bit off. This thing is huge! Quite heavy and very bulky. That said, it ’s by far the warmest jacket I own. I love it. Very warm and cozy. Fantastic belay parka for cold weather. The synthetic insulation is a game changer. No more down feathers pocking through. Very lofty and warm.

LOVE this jacket! I 'm 6' 2 and bought XL for extra movement and layering when snowboarding. Pros: The synthetic fill is the best I 've ever felt, I honestly thought it was down fill. I love that it stays warm and holds its lofty puffiness when in wet snow conditions. My other Sitka down jacket loses its loft quickly in the arms and back when I start perspiring from a morning of hiking or snowboarding. But's it's so soft a cozy. I often just wear a t- shirt or thin base layer under it if I 'm just staring around a camp fire. It's very warm and the hand and chin backings are super soft. Cons: My only complaint is that it does n't have a well placed hood draw string for windy conditions. The single draw string on the hood is more a retention string for side to side movement of your head. And the outer fabric is very delicate, I know its gon na snag and tear on a tree branch one of these days.... I personally wish it was a little bit thicker like on my wife's Expedition down jacket.

This jacket served me well for 10 years of steady use every winter/fall and I finally replaced it. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. In summary, this is a durable, lightweight, packable and versatile jacket that does its job in the back- country but transitions seamlessly to the front- country. Highly recommended.

I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.
5
Travis B
This jacket I has an incredible warmth to weight ratio. The reinforced areas are positioned perfectly for use with backpacks and tactical gear. Very comfortable and warm. Packs up very nicely if you ’ re a backpacker and space conscious.

Tesh614
Love that this uses a fairly high fill power down( 800+), making it warm and space/weight efficient. I have higher fill power items like MH ghost whisperer UL( 1000 FP), but most UL garments use fragile fabrics and do n't have any weather protection, so they 're really limited to cold, dry weather. The Helium Down Jacket has weather resistance in key areas due to the Pertex Diamond Fuse panels, which makes it more versatile. It wo n't be a great outer layer if you 're expecting heavy rain, but I wear it by itself in a light mist or under a shell if heavy rain is expected. The Pertex panels are a little crinkly, but not as loud as some reviews suggest. I found the sizing to be accurate. This is quickly becoming a staple of my wardrobe from fall through spring. Thanks OR!

Have had great experiences with OR gear. Have n't put this to use yet, but zippers and fabric looks like they will hold up through several winters. Contrasting zippers and two shades of blue make this stand out.

[ Packing for travel, you want a jacket that can handle the cold, wind, and rain yet still fit in your travel bag using minimal space. Marmot solved all that with this jacket. I love my jacket! With both inside& outside pockets and even a hood that actually rides well on your head, everyone should take a look at this jacket before spending your money.

[[ Employee of marmot] Bought this jacket for a summer trip full of hiking and urban exploring across Norway. This jacket held up and kept me dry through everything that we encountered-- misty, windy, foggy, rainy-- and it fit great layered over a fleece on the colder days. When the pace picked up or we were going uphill, the pit- zips were great additions to help keep me comfortable and prevent overheating. It also packs down super small so it was easy to bring along on every excursion in a daypack just in case it started to rain.

A reliable, comfortable, and warm down jacket. I use this down jacket in Arctic tundra settings around Baffin Island, and find it best for warmth with low exertion activities( i. e. life around tent and cabin, as an emergency layer on expedition travel, or for everyday errands around town). At 6' 5 '' and 260lbs, I found XXL a perfect fit, with lots of room for layering and loft to spare. Recommended.

I live in Chicago and this jacket is Polar Vortex proof! It's incredibly warm. I typically get cold very easily and find myself layering with every jacket I own until I picked up THIS beast. I now often wear just a shirt under the jacket or a light layering piece when the temps drop to single digits. Buying items insulated with goose down is also out of my norm because I intend on spending considerable amount of time outdoors and I worry about the fill getting wet but Fjallraven ingeniously designed the jacket with synthetic fill reinforcements at the shoulders so it keeps me warm when I 'm caught in a wet snow. It's also super stylish and I get a lot of compliments, win- win.

Jonathan M.
I froze this winter in Park City, UT especially when the temp was hovering around zero. This parka changed that all. It is big and bulky but does not feel like that at all, it sits and wears no bigger than a standard puffy down coat. The fact that it is basically two down coats sewn together creates an air pocket in between them that will keep you warm in the coldest of temperatures. Another plus is that it is available in a heavier version for colder climates and it is about half the cost of a bougie Canada Goose, so save some money, stay warm, and look good in this bad boy.

I 've owned warm winter coats before, but nothing comes close to this marshmallow of a jacket. I tend to run pretty cold and the 415g of down has kept me toasty and smiling during frigid winter days and sub- zero midnight astrophotography shoots. The bulk is absolutely worth the comfort, and I appreciate the large zipper pulls and snaps that make it easy to operate with mittens on. I ca n't even imagine how much warmer the big brother to this jacket is( Expedition Down Jacket- 680g fill weight). For size reference, I am 6 ft. 4 in. 190lbs. and the size Large fits me perfectly- just enough room to layer while still not inhibiting movement.

[ Employee of mountainhardwear] This is easily one of the best light weight puffy for moderate activity. It handles cold weather exceptionally well for how light it is. The stretch baffling makes movement incredibly natural. I have worn this jacket while bouldering on some colder days and I was impressed by how well it performed. The material is durable and holds up to abuse.

I have had a stretch down pullover hoody for about a year but wanted one that had a zipper. I found this fabric to be high quality and have never had any issues with tears. It does stretch but I wear mine fairly baggy so it does n't get tested. Its super light and you can stuff it almost anywhere. It feels like a windbreaker but it does hold some heat. I 'm a moderately heavy build and I do prefer slightly cooler temps than the average person. I feel comfortable wearing a t- shirt and this as long as its above maybe 25 or above for relatively short periods of time( hour or less). I live in central NC and on the rare occasion its colder than that, I reach for my regular stretch down hoodie. I do sorta wish it had a drawstring on the bottom but not a deal breaker.

The jacket fits really well. I ’ m a large and everything and this jacket was no exception. The quality is high. The jackets warm. I had no problems with the T- shirt and just the jacket at 40°. I wore it down to 20° with a T- shirt and a flannel underneath. It ’s also good and warmer temperatures.

[ These are very High quality jackets and really warm but a little short on the length. Marmot should reconsider length on most of their down/insulated jackets, Highlanders are also a little short.
5
MC_Buzz
[ I love this jacket. It's very, very lightweight but keeps the wind chill and and cold at bay. The nylon used in the jacket is recycled, as is most of the down. The outdoor pockets have flaps over the zippers and the zippers are of good quality. It should be noted that while the sizes are accurate to what is listed on the website, that is a bit smaller than you might be used to from other companies so purchase accordingly.

[ After using my jacket for a few days since it substantially cooled off in our area this jacket is absolutely amazing. Went in a bicycle ride and with the wind chill it kept me very warm, yet didn ’ t make me sweat as much as my other jackets did. I am highly recommending this jacket.

[ I absolutely love this marmot jacket! The colors and style are modern and trendy and the way it's made is very high quality. I would describe this as a light jacket but the down inside makes it feel much warmer than a light jacket. 5/5!

Got this jacket today, looks pretty good! Quality is great! I love those side pockets! I 'm going to use it as everyday mild winter down jacket. The only thing: I see it's mentioned that 6' 1 is size M, but I would consider to choose L. M will fit, but imagine if you will want to put on a sweater under the jacket? It can be really tight.

Keeps me warm in the 30s easily with just a normal shirt and a sweater. With real layers I have been able to walk approx 30 minutes round trip in the low 20s and strong winds. It ’s very warm and also gives you that psychological warmth boost of a fat, cozy puffer. The length is just right if you need a big outermost layer but don ’ t want a full parka length. I am normally between S and M for most things and a S easily fits me even with a chunky sweater. The two internal mesh pockets are clutch.

Probably the highest quality item I own. The cut, the craftsmanship, everything feels premium to me. Have n't had the chance to really test it l, but I wore it outside on a 20 degree day with a t shirt and it was toasty. I 'd probably recommend it for dark days below 20 degrees. It does runs true to size; I 'm 6', 42- 44 '' chest and it fits me perfectly. The hood adjustment it spot on, the pockets are great and plentiful. The down loft is perfect. I definitely recommend a parka like this one.

[ Employee of mountainhardwear] I have been using multiple Kor products for a while and added this one to my closet recently. It has many uses but what I use it for is early morning hikes and rides. It adds just enough warmth over a base layer to reduce the bite of morning chill. There's a reason you see so many really favorable reviews of this jacket. It checks all the boxes. Packable, super light, blocks the wind, repels mist or light rain and looks great. Pull it out of your kit at a windy summit or the top of a pitch. If you are slim and athletic, it fits true to your usual size. I have a paunchy `` dad bod '', so I had to go up one size for midriff room. You wo n't have to, though. I also have the lined hoody version of this garment, and like it equally for belaying or just spectating at the base of the crag.

The good is that this is the lightest shell I 've ever put on- it's as light as a feather. But, I still do n't understand why MHW wo n't put in cinch waist cords anymore? It is very light weight and not the least bit bulky, but regulates temperature very well. It takes up very little space for backpacking and travel. I like it so much I gifted one for a friend( who loves it too), and will buy another in a different color this Fall. A true Fjallraven classic.

I think this jacket is a great choice for someone looking for a lower profile down jacket for winter layering while skiing, snowshoeing, etc. ... Really nice for riding my horse in

[ I bought this to replace a 20+ year old jacket that the zipper finally gave out on. This was the closest thing I could find that was warm, lightweight and not bulky or restrictive

I 've been an avid backcountry skier for over a decade and this will be my first season guiding, so insulating jackets are usually put to good use. In the PNW the temps can get very cold but are generally moderate compared to somewhere further inland, so sometimes a 'light' puffy is just what you need. I ordered a medium and found the fit to be good- a little loose in the chest but great length( which is usually my issue with mediums; I 'll order larges just to get longer sleeves). Love the elastic sleeves on this jacket- not too tight but secure and can still stretch over gloves, watches, etc. My general experience with stretch down has been very positive; mostly due to the added durability. I 'm not afraid to brush up against trees or rocks, carry firewood, or set this jacket down on a rough wooden bench. The pockets are roomy and do n't snag as much as other jackets I 've owned, and the fact that this packs into its own pocket makes it easy to pack along on backcountry trips. I think the versatility and durability of this jacket makes it a great jack- of- all- trades for the multi- sport athlete and a solid addition to a ski bum's jacket collection.

I ’ m a backcountry Ski Patroller that teaches Outdoor Emergency Care and Avalanche Classes in the Rocky Mountains. I need my gear to perform both while patrolling and teaching classes, which usually involves temperature extremes and a lot of transitions between high output activities like skinning and digging and rest periods during transitions and lecture/discussion. I also need gear that is durable and can withstand several days in a row of use and abuse. The Stretchdown light jacket has turned into an everyday staple for me whether I ’ m on the hill or just heading into town. This good looking jacket has the warmth of a normal down jacket without the swishy noises or constricting fit that I ’ ve found in some others. It moves with me while I ’ m skinning or shoveling and, as with most down jackets, this one packs up small so I can easily stash it in my pack when I get warm. I ’ m usually a fan of hoods on most of my jackets, but as a layering piece in the field I actually really like that this one doesn ’ t have a hood, so it has a slimmer profile under my shell and is less bulky. I think this jacket is a great choice for someone looking for a lower profile down jacket for winter layering while skiing, snowshoeing, etc. that can also be worn as an outerwear piece that is comfortable and stylish in the spring/fall. Because of its weight and packability, it ’s a great choice for camping or backpacking year round, too.

I am an adventure supervisor at a therapeutic boarding school in Northwest Montana, and I use this jacket to lead hiking, biking, and climbing trips in cool temperatures. I also took this jacket camping with me in Glacier National Park when the temperatures got down into the teens, so I was able to compare its warmth to some of my other jackets. Although it loses some of its warmth without a hood, it kept me surprisingly warm in those low temps. Overall, however, I found that the biggest positive to this jacket is the durable material! The stretchdown feels more resistant to nicks and tearing, and I can see this jacket lasting a long time. It's also a plus for me that the down is RDS certified-- yay for animal welfare! I would not bring this as my only puffy jacket when backpacking because I would need the extra warmth that a hood brings. However, this layer would be really great for climbing in moderately cool temperatures because of how durable the material would be on the rock, or as a bonus layer to stuff in a pack for a little extra warmth. I gave this jacket four stars, mostly because of the fit. I am 5' 5 '', 120lbs, and I ordered a small because I normally like to layer underneath my puffy jackets. However, a small is too big on me even with layers underneath, and it also has a boxy fit around the shoulders. I would order an XS next time for sure!
