Bought bag in 2022, has seen pretty rough use overall but maintains its shape and quality for the most part. The stitching of the netting on the sides of the bag are coming undone/fraying a bit but otherwise its in good shape. It works great as a gym bag, weekender, etc. but poorly as a travel bag as it does not fit carry- on dimensions and it stains rather easily and can get dirty quickly.

These are great duffel bags! I ordered the red, green, and white ones. I ordered the small size, because I just need it for daily trips to the YMCA f and maybe for a day or two trip here or there. It will hold a pair of shoes and a basketball, my swimming gear, and a change of clothes no problem. I use the shoe garage for a basketball and put the shoes on the other side to get the extra room when carrying both. If you are looking to carry a lot more I 'd move up to the medium size which I purchased at first, but it was just to big for my needs. The small is perfect in my opinion. The red and white bags really pop, but that Oregon green really takes the take. The black option looks ok too, but I just like the other 3 colors better.

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

I dumped my big backpack years ago and traveled light with a gray Herschel which seemed just the right size. Then I found myself with a book, laptop, sandwich( cause you 've got to bring your own food on planes nowadays), and electronic cables and batteries until the Hershel was running out of space. I did n't want to go back to a big backpack but wanted something just a little bigger. This works! It's small enough to fit under an airline seat( see photo) but bigger and more organized on the inside. Plus my gray canvas Herschel showed dirt and stains whereas this one is jet black and has a slick surface that can be wiped off. It feels a little bigger and stiffer on the back but I 'm fine with that. just took out my 1997 yellow duffel that I had since college to send it to overnight camp with my 11 year old daughter. It was filhty and covered with cobwebs. I have several sizes of these bags I use for various adventures.( not a hard core adventurer) All have been tough, rugged and weather resistant.( I would n't dunk them in water but do n't worry about wet ground or rain) The handles and shoulder straps are comfortable. This bag is great and a level up from a duffle bag I ’ ve been using for years from another brand. I love all the pockets and how everything stays organized. My friend has the same style bag but the smaller version, we both have experienced a hitch on the zipper on the top right side of the bag. It must be close to where some strong seams come together on the inside of the bag, it makes it difficult to open/close in that one spot every time- even if the pack isn ’ t super full. That is my only complaint, and it ’s just a small design flaw, otherwise a great bag.

This is the second one of these we own. My son has the first one, and after the first year of carrying it for school a thoroughly beating it up, it barely showed any wear or tear. The net pockets on the side were the only place that a couple of very small holes had occurred. Other than that it was in perfect condition. I like it when I do n't have to buy a new backpack every year. So this one was for my daughter. She should be good to carry it at LEAST for her last 2 years of school.
