I absolutely adore the Rain Defender exterior fabric. Will Rain Defender keep me dry in a cloud burst rain storm? Nope! However I am often required to work outside when it is heavily misting, snowing and sleeting. I have a number of shirts and jackets with a sherpa lining. I bought this in preparation for a trip where I was expecting temps in the low 40s, wind, and rain, but needed a few easily accessible pockets, too. This coat worked perfectly for me, keeping me dry, warm, and relatively protected from the wind( with the hood), too. The lack of an inner pocket was a bit of a miss, but the two outer breast pockets worked well for my phone and( when traveling, and worried about pickpockets) wallet.

I love the fit and feel. Very lightweight, which I wanted, as a summer weight jacket. The stretch improves the fit and feel over my other bomber. The only things I would change is; Add the original bomber style shoulder pockets and tool sleeves, maybe even on both sides. A velcro shoulder patches with a cover that matches the jacket fabric to hide the velcro if preferred. Stretch cordura or something cut resistant to protect in the shop against sheet metal edges or on the street for self defence. Hand pocket designed more like the original without the flap. Or maybe different bomber offerings.

Great quality and soft. Just know this is loose baggy fit and you may have to size down. My son is 17, 5 ’ 11 ” and is about 160 pounds. Long legs and arms! As someone that tends to run hot, it ’s the perfect thickness for a bit of warmth but not something you have to take off once you get a little active. I ’ m a 5 ’ 10 205lb fella and this fits me perfectly in a large. However if you ’ re looking to add something under I would suggest sizing up a wee bit. My XL is perfect for the addition of a wool thermal and not filling out to max marshmallow man levels.

I tried another brand ’s sweater on in a store to compare as it was much cheaper, but it looked cheaper too…it looked like I was wearing a garbage bag in comparison.
