5 Jean
These gloves remind me of TNF stuff from the 80's, amazing quality and thoughtful design with high end materials.

5 Gichan
These gloves keep your hand dried very well. I have n't used under several weather yet, so I am not sure about waterproof from rain& snow yet. I used these at 10~15 degrees C, and my hands held some sweat. These gloves alone would be good between- 10~10 degree C. You would need extra thermal gears under- 10C. I felt the size runs a little large as I break in. You could do half size down if you want tight fits.

5 Debbie
I love my new gloves. Used them in the rain and they kept my hands warm and dry. Fit is perfect too.

I work Mountain Patrol in the San Bernardino mountains. I have used the North Face gear for a long time; it has never let me down. This is my second pair of this line, and they get the job done when you need it most.

Nice gloves for the price. Measured hand per size guide and ordered Medium which felt a little snug around palms and around top of hand. Ended up reordering Large after trying the first pair on. Large fits perfect.

5 Dtrain
Great well constructed glove. Runs small so I returned for a larger size( XXL) and still tight but I hope will pack out. I usually take an XL in almost every glove.

Frequently Asked Questions For Mountain Hiking Gloves

When selecting mountain hiking gloves, consider features such as waterproofing, insulation, and grip. Waterproof materials help keep your hands dry in wet conditions, while insulation provides warmth during colder temperatures. Look for gloves with a textured palm for better grip on trekking poles or other equipment. Additionally, features like adjustable cuffs and breathability can enhance comfort and functionality during your hikes.

To choose the right size for mountain hiking gloves, start by measuring the circumference of your hand just below the knuckles, excluding the thumb. Compare your measurement to the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer, as sizes can vary between brands. It's also important to consider the fit; you may want a snug fit for dexterity or a looser fit for added insulation. Trying on gloves with the intended base layers can help ensure a comfortable fit for your hiking needs.

Mountain hiking gloves are typically made from a combination of durable and insulating materials to provide both protection and warmth. Common materials include waterproof and breathable fabrics, such as GORE-TEX, which help keep hands dry while allowing moisture to escape. Insulation materials like fleece or synthetic fills are often used to retain heat, ensuring comfort during cold weather conditions. Additionally, reinforced palms and fingers made from leather or synthetic materials enhance durability and grip for various outdoor activities.

Yes, there are mountain hiking gloves specifically designed for wet or snowy conditions. These gloves often feature waterproof materials and insulation to keep hands dry and warm in harsh weather. Many styles include additional elements like adjustable cuffs and reinforced palms for enhanced grip and protection. When choosing gloves for these conditions, look for options that prioritize both waterproofing and breathability.

Insulated mountain hiking gloves are designed to provide warmth in cold weather conditions, featuring materials that trap heat while still allowing for some breathability. Non-insulated gloves, on the other hand, prioritize dexterity and moisture management, making them suitable for milder temperatures or activities that require more hand movement. The choice between insulated and non-insulated gloves depends on the climate and the specific activities planned during your hike. Many hikers opt for insulated gloves in winter or snowy conditions, while non-insulated options are often preferred for warmer weather or high-intensity activities.

Mountain hiking gloves are designed with materials and features that enhance grip and dexterity, making them essential for outdoor activities. Many gloves incorporate textured palms and fingers, which provide a secure hold on trekking poles, rocks, or other equipment. Additionally, flexible materials allow for a natural range of motion, enabling users to easily manipulate gear and perform tasks without removing the gloves. This combination of grip and dexterity helps improve overall performance and comfort during hikes.

To maintain the performance of mountain hiking gloves, it is important to clean them regularly according to the manufacturer's instructions. Use a gentle detergent and avoid fabric softeners, as they can affect the gloves' waterproofing and breathability. After washing, allow the gloves to air dry away from direct heat sources, and consider applying a suitable waterproofing treatment periodically to restore their protective qualities. Proper storage in a cool, dry place will also help preserve their functionality over time.

Yes, mountain hiking gloves can be versatile and suitable for various outdoor activities beyond hiking. Many designs offer features like waterproofing, insulation, and grip, making them ideal for activities such as climbing, skiing, or snowboarding. Additionally, their durability and comfort can enhance experiences during camping, snowshoeing, or even winter sports. Always consider the specific conditions and requirements of each activity when selecting gloves.

Using gloves with waterproof technology for mountain hiking helps keep your hands dry and comfortable in wet conditions. This feature prevents moisture from penetrating the gloves, allowing you to maintain dexterity and grip while handling gear or navigating challenging terrain. Additionally, waterproof gloves often provide insulation, which can help regulate temperature and protect against cold weather. Overall, they enhance your outdoor experience by ensuring your hands stay warm and functional in various weather conditions.

To determine the right level of insulation for mountain hiking gloves, consider the climate conditions you will encounter during your hike. In colder environments, look for gloves with thicker insulation to provide warmth, while in milder conditions, lighter insulation may be sufficient. Additionally, consider factors such as wind chill and moisture levels, as these can affect how warm your hands will feel. It's also helpful to choose gloves with adjustable features to enhance comfort and adaptability to changing weather conditions.
