[ I ’ m in surgical menopause& am constantly trying to strike the right balance between being too hot or too cold. This jacket is absolutely perfect. It ’s lightweight enough to e breathable but at the same time the Omni- tech heating feature kept me warm during a hike. Love that it ’s waterproof as well( walked in rain& I was completely dry). The hood is also great- I can wear a winter hat underneath it& it ’s not too loose. Plus the moonbeam color is my favorite color. 10/10 would recommend.

I bought this jacket to wear for skiing but have been wearing it at other times also. It is warm and I love the fur hood. I do wish that there were thumb holes in the inner sleeves and maybe another pocket inside the jacket on the other side( there is one on the left side) to stick tissues, money, etc. but it's a great jacket and very comfy. I 've been itching for a cold day ski jacket. This baby is perfect. On the roomy side, super warm, windproof, good style. All the right pockets. Love it. I 'm 5'10 '' 210 pounds and large fits without any restriction and room for a mid layer.
5
Blanka
Good winter and low temp jacket. Its longer and a tad baggy/active since its made for riding, so take your normal size and layer underneath for really cold days. It's super comfortable and will keep you warm and dry. Hood is definitely a little too Raph, it's made for riding with a helmet on, so its too big for casual wear but I knew that would be the case for any snowboard jacket so it does n't bother me.
5

Warm and Protective, Moves well when Riding. Excellent Jacket

I am not a skier but I wanted a jacket that would keep me warm and dry in very cold temperatures and winter precipitation. The day after I bought this I took a long walk along a country road wearing this jacket over a t- shirt with temperatures in the mid- 20s( F) that soon saw precipitation in the form of wind- driven light snow and sleet. I was amazed at the cozy, comfortable feel this jacket provided. I will never second- guess this purchase- love this jacket!

I bought the Lawernce Jacket and matching pants in Alpine Green and when I wear them together I get asked if I work for the forestry service so maybe I should have gone for another color. It's a great jacket with lots of pockets in the right spot. I appreciate the cell phone leash and the goggle whips built in. It would be nice if the front zipper pull was a bit bigger or had a cord on it to make zipping up with gloves on easier like the pocket zippers have. And the collar could be a bit roomier to Zip up when wearing a neck gator.
5
Clare L.
The jacket is warm, comfortable, and has lots of great pockets. Could easily fit everything I needed for a day skiing, and it was warm enough with a few layers on a cold, blizzardy day. Sized up for a looser fit to be able to wear thick layers underneath( wore two long sleeves and a sweatshirt and was comfortable). Would recommend.

As a short- ish 2XL girlie, I was so stressed about finding a ski jacket that would work for my body and this one made me feel not only comfortable but confident. Love you forever, Halfdays!

It keeps you really warm but it ’s super lightweight. ... Very lightweight and warm ... The stretch material is great and provides a lot of freedom of movement. ... I do n't know how to describe better than it just feels good to wear

SeaFour
[ I really enjoyed the stretch- fit feature, I could actually be active and use my arms without the jacket riding up. Then matte- like finish is fantastic and a lot more subtle than the Ghost Whisperer finish, with a soft yet durable feel. Plenty of pockets for everything you 'd need to stash away and the chest pocket fits a rather large cellphone, I use the Galaxy S8+ with an OtterBox case so this should fit pretty much any phone on the market. I have yet to be in freezing temps but at low 40s with wind the StretchDown jacket kept me very arm, the seam welded baffles do their job. I would absolutely recommend this jacket after reviewing the Ghost Whisperer as well as options from Patagonia and Arc'teryx I decided to buy the Mountain Hardwear StretchDown Jacket and I do not regret my decision.

[ Super warm and light, this jacket is my go to in cool weather and pairs well with a shell when it's really nasty out.

[ I bought this jacket online with size large and color zinc. It is so amazing it keeps you completely warm in even in 16F. I love the full neck covering design and it ’s water repellent technology is amazing. I poured a glass of water on the hands and no wetting at all. Zinc color is also extraordinary. Love this product.

SierraWhiskey
[ This is my favorite jacket. I probably wear it more often than I should, to be entirely honest. It's just so darn versatile, though, that I find myself grabbing this jacket in nearly any situation. The fit is perfect and the angled baffles look great on anyone. The baffles themselves are much more firm than most puffy jackets, which just feels fantastic every time you throw it on. The material is durable, and the range of motion is completely non- restricting. Interestingly, I was especially impressed by the way this jacket feels when moving between being outside/inside. I 've ridden my bicycle outside and felt toasty warm while wearing this well below 30 degrees+ windchill, but then when I go inside at 70 degrees it still feels comfortable enough that I do n't need to take it off. I think everyone should have a Stretchdown. Mine has completely changed the way I think about down jackets.

I 'm 5' 2 100lbs and usually wear an XS and this jacket fits me well with extra room for layering. I love the Turtle Dove color as it is a creamy/vanilla shade that pairs well with any snow pant color. Amazing features- snow skirt, thumb cut outs, water proof and wind proof, zippers up to my chin, well insulated, and, multiple pockets. This jacket is one of the best quality ski jackets on the market now. I would say it's comparable to Helly Hansen's Alphelia jacket in terms of fit and features but for a lower price point. It even has a similar fit to the Arc'teryx jackets if you cinch the waistline in and tuck it. You can get away with wearing no layers underneath this jacket in 30F weather. I 've already gotten many compliments and will be wearing this to back to back ski trips in Vermont and Colorado! I agree with other reviews that a snow helmet can not fit underneath the hood, but that is NOT a con for me as wearing a hood while skiing usually obstructs my view anyway.

[ My daughter loves this jacket as it is lightweight, looks cool, and is not too bulky. I love it because it keeps her warm. The reflective interior technology keeps heat inside which is great and she thought it looked so cool she showed her teachers. Overall I would recommed this jacket as a quality kids winter jacket. If you live somewhere where it gets extremely cold this would probably not be enough, but in Texas this is perfect for any cold weather.

[ This is the second year in a row we have outfitted our oldest daughter with the Powder- Lite. It is the perfect balance of warmth, weight and stylish/functional details. Omni- heat makes it warm enough for all but the coldest days. It is slimmer fitting, which is great because most kids puffy jackets seem to be baggy in the torso. This is THE everyday jacket for Vermont winters.

[ Amazing high- quality versatile jacket which I bought in the Fall, layered through winter and am continuing to enjoy into Spring. It is very light weight and not the least bit bulky, but regulates temperature very well. It takes up very little space for backpacking and travel. I buy Stio gear for our whole crew at the Marina, Dock Hands, Sales Guys, Techs, and managers. I like to give them gear they will use and like to wear. We struggle with where/how to logo the pieces. Absolutely killer jacket. Bought it to use for teaching a backpacking class in the late fall in high mountains of Idaho where it can get pretty cold pretty quick. Used it in- 10f weather with a baselayer underneath and shell on top and stayed toasty the whole time. Provides an honestly impressive amount of wind resistance even on the seams. A lot of people claim durability issues but I 've used it climbing, backpacking, and bikepacking for about two years now and it's done amazingly. Well done Mountain Hardwear!

[ This Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer UL down jacket is crazy lightweight, warm, and a pleasure to wear! I chose the Dark Zinc color because I think the other colors show the down fill, and do not look as good to me. This jacket has 1000 fill power down, which makes the jacket warm for its weight. Pricey? Yes! Worth it? Definitely! The only real can I can find is the fit. The cuffs need to be much tighter. So n cold gets in.

[ Have worn the First Light Stretch Hoodie for three months now, including on a few winter hikes& a XC ski in the Cascades. Couldn ’ t find another jacket that, at this high level of breathability and range of motion, also offers solid warmth& wind- resistance, great durability, and stylish looks for everyday use. A few jackets may be as breathable as this one, but none of them also offer good warmth+ good wind- resistance+ excellent durability. Only the Arc ’ teryx Proton LT seems to come close. The durability is due to a robust shell fabric( 40- denier) and the Primaloft Silver insulation, which is more durable than Gold and very close to it in warmth. Also, this jacket is fully featured, with an adjustable, well- fitting hood that doesn ’ t block the view, an internal zippered pocket, and two well- placed external zippered pockets. Everyone has to make their own calculation, but I think the three ounces this jacket weighs more than some of the less durable, less featured jackets, are well- worth it. Also, this jacket packs down well. I have a large and it compresses to about 2 liters. Super versatile, comfortable jacket for anything from hardcore outdoor uses, including high- output activities& campside use, to everyday wear.

[ very light jacket, almost weightless and breathes well and does not wiggle movement. Warm hood. Very happy with the purchase. A friend bought himself the same as mine, only in a different color. a small drawback- the liner sticks out a little through the sleeves, but this is not a problem at all.

I ’ ve owned 2 other puffers( Patagonia and Rab). The Helium combined my favorite aspects of both jackets into one and improved on some other aspects. Only thing I can ’ t attest to is the jackets durability. I ’ ve had my Patagonia puffer for nearly 10 years, hoping this one lasts that or more! Pros:- lightweight but very warm( tested in the 20 ’s and 30F so far, expecting to see how it fairs in the negatives soon)- hand pockets are lined and warm- hood is a must have for long bouts in cold weather IMO- phone pocket on the chest fits a new pro max IPhone with a case on it- large internal open pockets, probably won ’ t use much but nice additional feature- the hood and shoulders have a water repellant material Con: My only negative is the sizing, I ’ m 6 ’ 200lbs and usually wear an XL for jackets. A large would have fit more athletically with room for another layer underneath. I live in a place it can get to- 50 or colder so having space to layer is wicked helpful, but an XL is a tough too big.

very happy with this downie. granted, I would n't try my luck in a Minnesota winter with this and a tee shirt, but for simple, functional northwest cold, this jacket is perfect. the fit is great, roominess enough but not too much, and the sizing is dead on( I 'm 5' 10 '' and 180, bought a large). good coat for the casual wearer and will last well on hikes, but the more serious outdoorsman may prefer a bit more durability.

I 've only had this jacket for a couple of days, but I am already very impressed. It's very warm, the zips are all high quality, the pockets are sooo soft and nice to put my hands in. I love how the neck comes right up to my chin so even if I do n't have the hood on, I can zip the neck right up and I feel like I am wearing a scarf. Very happy with the styling too. It has a lot of really nice features and attention to detail. Great jacket for the price.

I haven ’ t had a chance to wear the jacket yet but the quality seems great. Fit is very standard, you can fit a layer underneath easily and feels very warm after just trying on. The fabric elastic cuffs feel very soft and not too tight, my last ski jacket they were way too tight and got in the way of wearing my gloves.

I am so impressed with this jacket! Not only is it warm, but with all the pockets, including specialized ones for tissues, chapstick and passes, as well as the angled main zipper so the zipper does n't irritate your fade, this jacket is the best I 've ever had. It's also very comfortable and had good flex and movement my first time taking it out. I am so impressed with the design. In fact, I bought the same jacket for my husband after he saw how sweet mine was and he loves it too. It kept us warm in the cold Canadian rockies already!

I 've been an avid backcountry skier for over a decade and this will be my first season guiding, so insulating jackets are usually put to good use. In the PNW the temps can get very cold but are generally moderate compared to somewhere further inland, so sometimes a 'light' puffy is just what you need. I ordered a medium and found the fit to be good- a little loose in the chest but great length( which is usually my issue with mediums; I 'll order larges just to get longer sleeves). Love the elastic sleeves on this jacket- not too tight but secure and can still stretch over gloves, watches, etc. My general experience with stretch down has been very positive; mostly due to the added durability. I 'm not afraid to brush up against trees or rocks, carry firewood, or set this jacket down on a rough wooden bench. The pockets are roomy and do n't snag as much as other jackets I 've owned, and the fact that this packs into its own pocket makes it easy to pack along on backcountry trips. I think the versatility and durability of this jacket makes it a great jack- of- all- trades for the multi- sport athlete and a solid addition to a ski bum's jacket collection.

I ’ m a backcountry Ski Patroller that teaches Outdoor Emergency Care and Avalanche Classes in the Rocky Mountains. I need my gear to perform both while patrolling and teaching classes, which usually involves temperature extremes and a lot of transitions between high output activities like skinning and digging and rest periods during transitions and lecture/discussion. I also need gear that is durable and can withstand several days in a row of use and abuse. The Stretchdown light jacket has turned into an everyday staple for me whether I ’ m on the hill or just heading into town. This good looking jacket has the warmth of a normal down jacket without the swishy noises or constricting fit that I ’ ve found in some others. It moves with me while I ’ m skinning or shoveling and, as with most down jackets, this one packs up small so I can easily stash it in my pack when I get warm. I ’ m usually a fan of hoods on most of my jackets, but as a layering piece in the field I actually really like that this one doesn ’ t have a hood, so it has a slimmer profile under my shell and is less bulky. I think this jacket is a great choice for someone looking for a lower profile down jacket for winter layering while skiing, snowshoeing, etc. that can also be worn as an outerwear piece that is comfortable and stylish in the spring/fall. Because of its weight and packability, it ’s a great choice for camping or backpacking year round, too.

I am an adventure supervisor at a therapeutic boarding school in Northwest Montana, and I use this jacket to lead hiking, biking, and climbing trips in cool temperatures. I also took this jacket camping with me in Glacier National Park when the temperatures got down into the teens, so I was able to compare its warmth to some of my other jackets. Although it loses some of its warmth without a hood, it kept me surprisingly warm in those low temps. Overall, however, I found that the biggest positive to this jacket is the durable material! The stretchdown feels more resistant to nicks and tearing, and I can see this jacket lasting a long time. It's also a plus for me that the down is RDS certified-- yay for animal welfare! I would not bring this as my only puffy jacket when backpacking because I would need the extra warmth that a hood brings. However, this layer would be really great for climbing in moderately cool temperatures because of how durable the material would be on the rock, or as a bonus layer to stuff in a pack for a little extra warmth. I gave this jacket four stars, mostly because of the fit. I am 5' 5 '', 120lbs, and I ordered a small because I normally like to layer underneath my puffy jackets. However, a small is too big on me even with layers underneath, and it also has a boxy fit around the shoulders. I would order an XS next time for sure!

This jacket is so comfortable and warm. I bought it for skiing and I love it. The material is soft. I like how it zips up high to keep my neck warm while still leaving room to wear a neck gaiter. I also love the inside sleeves that fit over my thumbs. They fit great under my mittens and provided extra warmth. I found my usual size a bit small, but the next size up fit perfectly. I ’ m not sure if it ’s completely waterproof, but it ’s at least water resistant. If you want a warm, nice looking, comfortable ski jacket, I would highly recommend it!
