This is a very good non- slip mat. The mat performs incredibly well out of the box, especially if you are used to the standard issue$ 20-$ 30 mats out there. This one is about 5 steps above those for about 2. 5x the price, meaning: it's a worth it! My hands and feet never slid using this mat, until I wore out the top layer. I 've owned mine for about a year, and only now am I facing the fact that it's time to say adieu. I used it pretty heavily, 3- 4 times per week for Ashtanga and higher- level vinyasa classes. Over time the coating wore off in areas of heavy use, like where I put my hands in down dog, and in those areas now it is very slippery. But hey, I got a year of use out of mine, so I ca n't complain.

[ When opening the yoga mat I noticed that it had no odor. Alot of times mats have a chemical odor. I was pleased this does not. I use it for HIIT workouts, yoga and pilates. It is non slip and is very protective on a hard floor. Highly recommend.

I have been on a quest to find the best yoga mat for hot yoga. I wanted one that I could use without needing a towel on top. I read a lot of reviews, articles, and watched YouTube videos to make my decision. I have used other Gaiam mats in the past and they have been very slippery, so when I first read about this mat I ruled it out. I ended up purchasing a Jade yoga mat. It was great and not slippery, but not for hot yoga. Unfortunately, I needed to use a towel to feel safe. After a while, I decided to buy this mat even though I was skeptical. I am SO happy I did. It is not slippery at all. It is everything I have wanted in a yoga mat! I wish I bought this one right from the beginning. I do n't think I will ever buy another yoga mat! There are only a few downsides to this mat. They do n't bother me, but I figured I 'd mention them. The shiny design is slippery, but I 'm not ever in a pose where this has been an issue. Also, the mat does smell when you first get it. Deep breaths in Child's Pose were not great on the first day, but by the second day after airing out it was already considerably better. Lastly, the Gaiam label fell off on the second day. Im not sure why it would be stuck on with just some sticky adhesive, but I really could n't have cared less. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I was starting to loose hope in my quest to find a non- slippery mat, but I 'm so glad I found this one! Namasté.

I love this mat. It is the best one I have ever had. I have been flowing on it for two years now, averaging 2- 3 classes a week. Just stating to notice minor wear. Lots of life left and I will cry if I ca n't replace with another one. Really the best mat ever!

My hands sweat in unheated classes so in heated classes, they are out of control to say the least. With regular mats, my hands slide all over the place and it is quite annoying but this mat is( dry) hands down THE BEST. If your hands slip during class, get this one!

After researching reviews of various products, I purchased a Gaiam premium mat a couple of years ago. Love the extra width and length. Even though it is considered a thick mat I never had any trouble balancing and really appreciated the extra support it offered. It offers a really good grip, no matter how sweaty your hands might get. Really liked the mat until it started to slightly separate. The top layer was separating from the cushion part of the mat. Researched reviews again and decided I would try a premium Manduka mat instead. So disappointed with the Manduka pro mat. It is very slick and if you tend to sweat at all during your session you will find it difficult to get a grip. I even found myself unsure of trying certain poses because I was afraid I would slip. I noticed that a few people had written about the Gaiam seperating issue and their customer service people would respond for them to get in contact with them. I decided to email them and let them know about my mat and I included a picture. They immediately responded and sent me a brand new mat! Who in the world offers this type of outrageously great customer service? I can tell you who, GAIAM!

I sweat buckets in a hot yoga class. Even with a non- slip yoga towel, it was tough to not slide around on the mat and the towel always bunched up. This mat is just fantastic... I can sweat gallons and NEVER slip or slide in any pose. It's also one of the few that is large enough for a 6+' man and wide enough for my shoulders. I just started yoga twice a week. Mat is light enough when I 'm carrying it. It does n't slip on the floor during class, comfy, my knees do n't hurt. My instructor advised to hand it unrolled for a few days, and that foam smell vanished. I 'm very satisfied.

So I did n't actually buy this for a yoga mat I bought this for my gym bag and my camping supplies. Most microfiber towels range between 10 and$ 80 depending on the size that you are looking for and it is harder and harder to find a decent microfiber towel that dries quickly for bigger dudes. I do ultralight camping kayaking and things like that plus I go to the gym every other day. Having towels that dry in minutes instead of being soaking wet in my gym bag is exactly the kind of thing I need in my life. This was more expensive than I would like but with this single towel I can get all of my hair and my entire body dry and as long as I do n't ball it up and shove it into the bottom of my bag if I just hang it off of the locker while I 'm getting dressed it is mostly dry by the time I am ready to leave the gym. Also this is only the fourth one I have ever bought and I bought it to replace one that got torn up while camping, and I have had them since 2012. More expensive than I would have liked to have paid but I will more than get its use by the time that I have to replace it.

I just got my mat this week and I could n't wait to practice on it. The colors are so vibrant and beautiful and the thickness of the mat is very comfortable. I know you are `` supposed '' to wait to `` air it out '' but I could n't. I hopped on and practiced. it felt great. I have been practicing yoga for 9 months and had a beginner mat before and decided to upgrade( I deserved it). The only thing that irks me is that when I practice, it seems like the mat feels a bit slippery. It makes me kinda nervous I will slip. Other than that, just looking at the mat when I come home makes me want to practice.:)

This mat performs a lot like a very expensive gym mat. It is not too squishy, and it is not too thin. I use it on hardwood floors and it's better than carpet that has the padding underneath( u can feel the slate under that on carpet if u do enough situps- this mat transfers none of that).
