I used this track to mount my fish finder and transducer mount in my kayak. It was narrow enough to mount to the top side of my kayak. However, you need access inside the kayak to attach the hardware. I ended up having to also purchase the YakAttack Fullback Backing Plate to ease the installation, which also provided more support for the attach mounts. The added cost of buying the backing plate made this a more expensive purchase.

I 've had this carrier for many years, and it's still in use. I 've had up to five boats attached to this thing, and probably could have gotten away with six, but we did n't have another one to throw up top. My current vehicle is limited to only three kayaks due to the design of the vehicle's roof rack. As long as the roof rack is wide enough, it will handle four kayaks. As a side note, I only carried the five kayaks for a few miles under 35 mph! But with four up top, it 'll handle freeway speeds just fine so long as your roof system can handle it. Thule, keep making this thing!

Works Great for fitting multiple boats on a rack. If you are going to put one boat on each side I would recommend buying a set of the 15 ft. load straps. If you are putting this on an Xsporter remember to use the Xadapt 3 adapter kit. There is a link to it in the technical specifcations area on this page. [ The Minn Kota Quick release bracket is a very well designed solution for mounting and Minn kota bow motor. The instructions, including the template on the inside of the box, were very descriptive and allowed for an easy install. I did discover However, that I needed to put a Backing plate under the mount to make it a bit more secure with the weight of the motor. Otherwise, it ’s an exceptional solution. If there are any cons to the device, it might be the price, but considering the amount of machining and tolerances that are necessary to make it as functional as it is, the value is definitely there. I would purchase it again if needed.

Despite the negative reviews, this item is easy to install and works very well for hoisting roof- top boxes, kayaks, and canoes. I recommend first fastening 3- 2 '' x6 '' x42 '' boards to the ceiling to simplify installation. This makes for a very sturdy installation, allows you to install parallel or perpendicular to the rafter direction, and eliminates the issue of rafter spacing. The center brackets accept 5/16 '' lag screws, and the pulley brackets accept 1/4 '' lag screws. I used 5/16 '' x 3- 1/2 '' lags to fasten the 2 '' x6 '' boards to the ceiling rafters and 2 '' long lag screws to fasten the brackets to the boards. Like it so far- we have a Rav 4 Adventure and had to put the rack in the middle which makes it a little harder to get the Kayaks on the roof. It might have been better if we bought two separate units so they could be closer to the side of the Rav. Also with the support straight up, the bigger Kayak needs to be held until you get the first strap on it. All that said, the rack seem strong and the Kayaks rode well.

This was a cinch to use straight out of the box. I had to drive to the Boundary Waters at high speeds and then on some back country roads. The canoe was solidly placed with the attached belly straps. I had to use a front anchor strap of my own to keep it centered. I would be the only negative I had. Sure beats the foam pads I 've been using for the last few years. It a nice alternative to buying a Thule rack for hundreds more.

Overall, a great way to store your canoe on your vehicle's cross bars. Felt like the price was about triple for what you actually get in terms of plastic braces, 2 straps, and screws. I placed this on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with factory crossbars. These worked great for holding a 16 foot canoe. Never moved and protected the vehicle. I would give it five stars if there was a way to lock the mounts to the car( None of the other canoe carrier companies had locks either. ie thule, Yakima) It would be nice if you did not have to undo all the screws each time you removed the mount from the car, but not a big deal. This was really easy to install. Be sure to look closely at the pictures! The text descriptions were almost no help. How do you `` dress '' a pulley anyway? This makes `` having '' a kayak available to everyone because `` where do you store a kayak? '' is probably the one reason more people do n't have one!

I stack two kayaks on each other and pull them up together. I 'm probably getting close to the max weight that way but it works for my situation. Hardware is sturdy. Rope seems soft but has n't worn out after a few years use. Just something I keep an eye on. Works well. After all this time I expect the hardware to continue to be robust and the rope is doing better than expected. The rope may be intentionally done that way to help with the auto lock feature which is great when you ate toed and pulling up heavy loads. I 'd buy another one without hesitation.

My canoe is finally out of the way when not in use. I love this. It was easy to install and handles the canoe perfectly. I do agree with other reviews about the strap, though. I ended up ditching the strap because I was able to connect the hooks right on to the seat. Up, up and away!
