I have the altra gators and( not just this shoe but others) the laces do n't go far enough towards to toes so you ca n't use the lace hook on the gator. What a beautiful shoe! I was very excited to give this one a opportunity as ince i needed a shoe for runnable trails along with dirt/gravel paths. Sizing for me was absolutely perfect, I ordered 10. 5 as always and hold and toe box spacing is excellent. I will have to play around with lacing tightness to figure out that best heel hold but that's the case with most shoes imo. The midsole is incredible and I 'm sure it will take on the abuse well, the bounce and propulsion is entirely new for me, I have never experienced something like this before. It would be a waste to use this for easy/slow runs since the rocker and midsole are clearly for running at faster paces.

I just ordered my second pair of the Rubatos to replace the ones I ordered a year ago. I walk about 1- 4 miles a day and have worn these on about 66% of those walks. They provide plenty of cushioning and support. I can wear these for long periods of time without my lower back and feet hurting. Suggestions to make this the perfect shoe: a little bit better ventilation, a little more width in the toe box and maybe add 1mm to the lugs. I have been a long time Hoka Stinson wearer for hiking but the soles do n't hold up well for Grand Canyon and slick rock hiking. I decided to try the Olympus 6's and have been very pleased. The Vibram soles are grippy and durable with the same plush cushioning that I enjoyed with the Hokas. The Olympus runs about 1/2 smaller than the Hokas which caused the hassle of sending back a pair. There was a break in period for the cushioned heel but felt much better after a week. I 'm wearing them for a rim to rim later this month and if they do well with that, I 'm hooked.

I 'm an Altra purist and have been for 3 or 4 years. I have road and trail styles, but with the Olympus 6, Altra just outdid themselves. I purchased these for trail running on small gravel/dirt trails around the beach trails in the hills of the SoCal coast. Nothing technical, just a good sturdy and grippy shoe. The structure and protection level in the Olympus 6 is perfect- the toe has protection and the edge and bite of the sole works great. I was also looking for cushion and I would say the cushion is cloud- like. The reduction in fatigue from long runs is really noticed. The shoe is sturdy, but the comfort is level 10. By far my favorite 10+ miler trail shoe I 've ever worn. I have to order another pair as these quickly became my dailies. I work in film production and I have lived in these since I purchased them. Description stated this model runs a half size larger. The fit was perfect. Had i ordered my regular size, i would have had to exchange it. I purchased three pairs( tan, black, grey) of these in rapid succession because they 're so awesome. I 've been wearing barefoot shoes, minimalist shoes, or sandals since high school- so these were a natural choice. Superb comfort IF you 're used to barefoot shoes. There is no padding other than a thin layer of mesh on the upper. Vibram soles provide outstanding grip and feel. And the soles are super flexible and nearly weightless. Alongside my Vibram FiveFingers and Furoshiki's, these are THE best barefoot shoes on the market. My only two critiques: 1) The mens sizes, especially need more color options( orange, please?? 2) The 'leather' version of these are far inferior to the mesh version. The upper is stiff and do n't stretch. Not criticisms, but know before purchasing: 1) If you 're not accustomed to barefoot shoes, these will be horribly uncomfortable initially. Go slowly and your feet will eventually feel better than ever before. 2) They offer NO water or splash protection. If there's more than 1/2 '' of water on the ground, your feet will get wet. BUT... this is fantastic as workout shoes because they dry super fast and do n't stink. 3) I would n't recommend these for hiking on uneven ground unless you 're prepared. Every sharp point will go straight through the sole and you will feel it. Know what you 're buying. If you 're new to barefoot shoes, Merrell has better options for beginners. If you 're looking for the best 'normal' looking barefoot shoes on the market, these are hard to beat.

These shoes fit well as the size indicates. They don ’ t seem to run big or small. Just about right. Also love the detail in the cacti by eyelets. The print inside the shoe, and they even mirrored the Nike logo on the sole so the orientation is correct when leaving footprint!!!

After many unsatisfying purchases and many returns, I have found the exact shoe I have been looking for, for use in long distance walking. It is very difficult to find a shoe that has lots of cushion* and* a more minimalist arch support( I have found that Hoka and even Altra just have too much arch support, which is uncomfortable if you have a flatter foot and/or do n't want or need arch support). The only thing I did n't like was the un- cushioned tongue, which was pressing a bit too much into my front ankle tendons. I solved this problem by using scissors to cut a small slit in each tongue to relieve that pressure( see photo). Now they are perfect! I will be buying these again.

Use them as hiking and backpacking shoes, 3- 4 days of light use to break them in, than a 3 day backpacking trip with substantial load, few days later a SAR trip, and a day hike. Great shoes. No hot spots, great room for my wide feet and toes and nice support. I usually wear boots with my heavy pack so was pleasantly surprised. Seem little tight first through the middle of my feet first, especially around the top, but went away after couple days of light wear. Only issue is the loop on the back. Could be slightly bigger to allow a finger to go through, would allow shoes to be put on a lot easier.

These shoes fit true to size and are amazingly comfortable. They are soft and squishy enough to survive 10- hour days working on concrete but also rock solid on runs and in the gym. When running, you 'll feel them propel you forward for the next step. I 'm also a bit of wide footer and these have plenty of room in the forefoot/toe area for me. Great shoes! The Zegama 2 has so far been a great shoe. My search for a shoe like this began when my Pegasus 4 GTX's finally hit the retirement cycle of shoes. The Pegasus 4 GTX's were some of the( if not the top) most comfortable shoes that I had ever had while also being capable of light outdoor activities. My instinct was to replace them with the Pegasus 5 GTX's. After exchanging sizes several times, I finally just return the 5's. They were just too tight, did n't fit right, and created a lot of foot pain. I decided to try the Zegama 2's. I actually had my eye on them during my transition from the Pegasus 4's!. These things remind me of the o'so comfortable Pegasus 4 GTX's. The Zegama 2's offer great bounce, support, and comfort! The grip is incredible too, it simply rocks. I play a lot of disc golf and these things have held true in any condition that I 've been in, wet, dry, muddy, slippery, you name it. Also, running any sort of distance in these feels great. They provide great bounce and support. I have n't ran a particularly long distance in them, maybe around 4 miles so far, which felt great and natural. I would n't second guess doubling that mileage or more. Overall these are great. Do n't think twice, grab a pair!.

I 've been dealing with plantar fasciitis in both feet for several months. These shoes have given me some really notable relief in the past couple weeks of wearing them. I 'm using them mainly for everyday walking around and trail hiking. Very satisfied so far, the shoes are very well made, and seem to be durable.

Cascadia 18 Trail Tough- I am a huge fan of my Cascadia 16s. Traded up to Cascadia 18s- broke out a fresh pair of sixteens vs my new eighteens in a Brooks version of Alien vs Predator on the same trail over consecutive days. Lives up to the Cascadia reputation- grateful for the extra width option 2E- robust snug and really sure thanks to the sole configuration and materials. Feel a little more flexible in a good way. The toe cap design still basically the same as the sixteens- so will assume they are equally protective and hard wearing. Look forward to comfort, sure footing and long life that the Cascadia design brings. My hound and me will continue to bust out 10km plus daily along creek trails- but so far Cascadia 18- AOK. Don ’ t break the formula Brooks- Cascadia stays as my go to. Tayto agrees- Woof!

I have been hiking for 10 years and always have used boots. My lowa renegades caused hot spots on my last hike and prompted me to try something new. I bought these over 6 months ago and have allowed time for reasonable use before reviewing. I can now comfortably say that I am delighted with these, as they are not only at least as comfortable, if not more so, than previous versions but they are now much more durable, both in terms of the upper sealing/coating and the goretex waterproofing- both showing no signs of wear at all. Love the roomy width of the shoe. Love the firm support of the sole( I do n't like especially gushy shoes, like New Balance tend to be). Love their light weight. And, I have found them to be quite sturdy. The Long Sky 2 has all the important features you want-- properly anatomically designed, sturdy and light weight-- and none of the gimmicks.

Super light and responsive. Much different from other trail shoes on the market. Merrell has a great minimalist line up and I think this really adds to it. If you ’ re looking for something with more grip and pop than the trail gloves, or just something light and nimble that doesn ’ t feel clunky like other shoes, this will for sure be for you. Only minor complaint is that the heel feels like you ’ re slipping out at first, but I got used to it during the first run, didn ’ t have any issues with fit or comfort.
