I 'll admit that I have always thought Altra shoes were not for me. Between the squared off toe box and the zero drop DNA; I just never gave them a chance. That all changed when they came out with the Experience collection and the move to a mid- drop ALTernative. I rushed to my local running store to try on a pair even though I did n't really even need new shoes. That 5 minute walk around the store was all it took. I am a convert- 100%. They fit perfect, color was not my first choice but could not resist the price. Like my other On Clouds, they are perfect fit, but you do run 1/2 size too small. They are very light, fit like slippers and walk and run very well as they cushion your feet. Like other On Clouds, be careful not to scrape or use them for harsh conditions as they will tear or a hole can happen. They are meant for light to medium wearing conditions and do very well at that.

purchased from nike, not Dicks. But i have seen a lot of non- typical reviews that may dissuade someone from giving these shoes a chance. I have over 300 damage- free miles on these shoes and i am just now looking at getting a replacement pair. not due to damage, but just due to the zoomX foam losing its `` springiness '' which is typical for it over time. I started wearing these shoes coming from wearing nike free's for years and just wanted to give something else a try that is lightweight and without a carbon fiber plate. These shoes will not `` destroy '' your ankles if you are already adept to wearing a minimalist- style shoe. These are not true minimalist, but they are very lightweight, lighter than my minimalist shoes, and have a very low heel- toe drop. Both of these specs can compete with minimalist shoes. Coming from wearing minimalist shoes, my ankles, feet, and lower legs are strengthened to adapt to the less cushioning and stability. If you transition to these shoes straight from wearing `` traditional '' trainers, there will be an adjustment period and you may decide its not for you. That is not a knock on the shoe, but more of a characteristic of this style of shoe. I transitioned to these shoes pretty seamlessly from my Nike frees. Streakfly's are the lightest shoe Nike makes, and extremely flexible. Like wearing socks. This is what i look for in a shoe, and something to consider for anyone looking at giving these a try. It is a very fast shoe, but it will lose its responsiveness over time due to the exposed ZoomX foam. They can still be used when this happens though. I am not happy that Nike decided to add a carbon fiber plate to the new Streakfly's, although Nike did make the shoe even lighter. I uses these shoes as a daily trainer and do not want to run with a carbon fiber plate every time, this can cause injury. i am currently looking for deals on these shoes from other sellers because they are not for sale through Nike anymore and i want to pick up another pair before they are completely gone. Bottom line, if you are someone that is already used to wearing a lightweight, flexible shoe, with low drop, you should really give this shoe a try. If not, there will be a transition period before you can wear this shoe all the time. When i transitioned to minimalist, i went through several shoes of gradually decreasing weight and drop in order to let my body strengthen and acclimate.

Love the arch support on these and the price point. Although they ’ re not the best looking shoe to wear, this shoe is definitely made to put in work. Minor slippage on my right foot as it ’s slightly smaller than my left foot. Toe cap is not your average Nike narrow one. I was n't thrilled with any of the women's models/colors in wide width, so I decided to purchase the Men's Escalante 4( mens regular is equivalent to womens wide width) instead. I wear a 10- 10. 5 wide in womens and went with the mens size 9 in black/white- perfect fit. Of course I wish the color was a bit more feminine, but at least there was a neutral option! I 'm new to the wide toe box, zero drop but I 'm absolutely in love with this shoe& hope I never have to go back to traditional tennis shoes. Zero- drop requires some adjustment time- my calves have been BURNING on walks, so I 've had to slow it down. FYI I tried Flux footwear first, but they are ridiculously narrow, so I had to return( also beware their return policy). I wear my new altras for walking and strength training primarily, and I plan to wear them when I visit London for 10 days in October. So happy with my purchase overall. I am a big guy weighing 110kg, but these shoes are so well cushioned that I do n't feel the impact of each footfall in my knees. If yours squeak, try some baby powder between the insole and sole. I think these have a glued down insole if remembering correctly, but i think i peeled them up in mine. Put baby power between the layers and try to get it to go between the sole from the upper and the foam of the cushioning/midsole where they are sewn together. Sometimes there are vent holes as well. If you get them really wet/dry and that gets washed out it will return some eventually but you can redo it. Ive had several different styles of squeaky shoes and this works. The squeak is between the upper sole and midsole and not the outer sole and the ground like most people think. That is why they squeak on any surface. Had these shoes for about a year and a half now and used and abused them. Feels pretty much as good or better than pegasus i had, although it is hard to ever get a direct comparison. Ive worked and walked a lot in them and usually feet feel as any other shoe Ive ever had. I coach and do a lot of outdoor work.

I ordered these because I had been wanting some tan running shoes to walk or jog with my dog, go to the local riverwalk, etc. I basically wanted something that would be functional and also look good with shorts or leggings. When I tried these shoes on I was absolutely amazed at how comfortable they are. Hands down the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned. I also did not realize that the tan shoes have a sparkly/glittery section around the heel that is SO cute and really glistens under lighting at night. I want to buy a second pair of these just in case something happens to these. I would rate them a 10/10 and highly recommend them. 2 of my friends have already seen me wear them and had to order a pair for themselves. Definitely do not hesitate to purchase these shoes!

Returned to running after a 40 year break. Six months in I decided to run a marathon on five days notice. I got these because they are supposed to reduce fatigue and make recovery faster. I ran sub- 4 at age 57 with six months of training and a five day taper. The next day I had no problems running six miles. Nineteen days later I ran a half in these and set a post- high school PB in the mile, 2 mile, 5K, 5 mile, 10K, 15K, 10 mile and half. In these shoes, I run like a different person.

These shoes have made my heel feel so much better. I am a tennis instructor and these are by no means designed for competitive tennis because the lack of structure in the forefoot is not ideal for changing directions quickly. The flexible upper and extreme cushioning in the sole make for an amazingly comfortable shoe though. I feel like I 'm walking on pillows. They have held up in both the sole and the upper for feeding balls and controlled rallies. I was having severe heel pain when I bought the shoes but after a month the pain has pretty much subsided.

With its zero drop and incredible flexibility, the Rivera does a great job in promoting natural foot movement. After investing the time to transition from high drop shoes, I ca n't imagine ever going back. Version 4 is a nice upgrade from the previous version- with the improved heel cup and laces that will actually stay tied, the lock- down is much improved.

I was admittedly ready to give up on zero drop Altra before I discovered the Rivera 4. I was huge fan of the early Escalantes. Light, nimble and responsive. Then Altra decided to start making clown shoes like the Escalante 3 with gigantic forefoot sole flare. Seemed like most Altra models went in this direction in the name of stability. Thankfully I discovered that Altra offers a `` slim fit '' shoe in form of Rivera( maybe I missed this on website, but Altra could do better job in summarizing their shoe lineup. Too many freaking models!). If you have narrow, low volume foot, check out the Rivera. This shoe has range! Daily miles, but with enough stiffness to give it some pep for tempo runs and intervals. The midsole foam has dense, bouncy feeling without that dreaded squishy action found on so many running shoes these days. A simple, no gimmick shoe that lets the foot do what it wants to do. Even the rocker feels very mild. Best of all is the lack of lateral and medial sole flare. Shoe feels so much more agile then the pontoon shape of other Altra models. Thank you to the product designer on this shoe. Please stay true to this model for future versions! My only suggestion is touch more shape on the arch( but that is nitpicking).

The best daily trainer I ’ ve ever ran in. It ’s so light and snappy. It makes running effortless. It shines in faster paces, but is still comfortable and stable at slower paces as well. I usually get some joint issues going longer distances, but the foam soaks up all of the shock while still feeling firm and responsive. On top of that, it seems to be very durable.
