The fit of this shoe is true to size, which I really appreciate. As a larger guy, I typically wear through inserts quickly, and by the end of the day, my feet often ache. However, I ’ ve been wearing these shoes consistently for the past three weeks, and I can genuinely feel the difference. The combination of the high- quality inserts and cushioned sole provides a noticeable level of comfort that lasts all day. Highly recommend!

I just ran a 50km race with 5, 000 feet of elevation gain and loss wearing these shoes. I was nervous that the toe box height would be too short, but that didn ’ t end up being an issue at all. I didn ’ t get a single blister after getting them from other trail shoes. The front toe shield definitely saved my big toe more than once after slamming into some rocks. I ’ d recommend them for lighter mud and snow conditions, but overall they were very comfortable and fast. They fit true to size to my vaporflys. Very satisfied and an eye catching piece.

I just ordered my second pair of the Rubatos to replace the ones I ordered a year ago. I walk about 1- 4 miles a day and have worn these on about 66% of those walks. They provide plenty of cushioning and support. I can wear these for long periods of time without my lower back and feet hurting. Suggestions to make this the perfect shoe: a little bit better ventilation, a little more width in the toe box and maybe add 1mm to the lugs. The lack of availability in colors and sizes makes me think these are or will be discontinued:>{ I wish Merrell would make more zero drop shoes and sandals.

I recently bought this pair of Olympuses to replace the Olympus 275s I had been wearing, and overall they work pretty well, with a couple of minor issues. The padding is excellent without making you feel like you 're trying to run on platforms. The classic wide toe box/zero drop works great for my wide, flat feet. The heel cushion is... potentially problematic. I 'd seen complaints about the cushion that wraps just above the heel and how it was rubbing some people raw, and on my first outing I could feel my heels rubbing against the cushion, especially on my left foot, which is slightly shorter than my right. I was able to fix this by using the extra pair of eyelets to make a `` heel lock '' or `` runner's loop, '' but that then created a second problem-- the laces are too short. I need to use double knots to keep my laces from coming undone, but there's so little lace left after making a runner's loop that getting a double knot is a challenge. Other than the issue of getting my shoes tied properly, however, the Olympuses fit well, feel comfortable, and give me a good combination of cushion and stability. They are also easier to slide my foot into than the 275s, where the collar that keeps out debris can get shoved inside the shoe.

[ This is overall a really solid shoe. I think it works for trail running or even general cross training. I 've got a separate pair of Brooks GTS Adrenalines that I use strictly for the track or( very clean) roads, but I would n't be caught dead trail running or cross- training for fear of rolling an ankle with their squishy bases. These Ghost Trails though? They feel really solid and stable on all sorts of terrain, and especially as we move to winter where I live and my training shifts indoors to a gym, I could see myself wearing these for a full workout( instead of switching shoes between the weights and the treadmill). I like the off- whiteish/tan as the main color... will be easier to keep looking somewhat clean. But I LOVE the little loop on the heel. It makes pulling them on so much easier without squishing the tongue down either, even if they are already low- tops. It's just little details like that which keep me coming back to Brooks.
5
Gardsy17
[ Out of the box, the shoes feel good and high quality. There are a couple of details like the rope pull hook on the back that making them look outdoorsy, which I like in a trail running shoe. They tighten really nicely as I lace them up, very secure on the whole foot. My feet are between size 10. 5 and 11. And the size 11 ’s in these were true to size. I run in a combination of road and grass/trail settings on my morning run. And also do trail running on compacted gravel. I love these shoes on the compacted gravel. I ca feel the grip when accelerating and didn ’ t have any slip even when running up steep hills. Often shoes with thick soles feel a bit wobbly to me when running on roots, etc. however I didn ’ t notice any instability in these which is great. My favourite part is the heel, it ’s very rigid and sturdy which makes putting them on and off easy and doable without my hands which is great when I ’ m also wrangling my dogs on the way out the door.

I bought these for my 20 year old son as a gift& they are some of the best- looking Brooks we 've owned. The Ghost is my favorite shoe, so I was excited to check out the Ghost Trail. I will say that the trail tread is not as aggressive as the Brooks Cascadia, so not sure these would be great on technical trails, but probably fine for gravel/smoother trails. I 'm not sure if we got an off- pair or these run big, but my son is always an 11. 5 in Brooks& the 11. 5 was too big for him. We exchanged for an 11& the fit was great.

[ I got these for my son who started running recently. He is hoping to make the running and basketball teams at school. His old shoes were uncomfortable and hurt his feet after a run. I ordered a size up like recommended on the sizing chart and they fit perfectly. While looking at running shoes Brooks comes up as a great choice and I have to agree. They are comfortable with good padding and are so light you won ’ t believe it. The Caldera 8 hold the foot and helps maintain a good stride while feeling solid. Your foot doesn ’ t feel like it ’s going to off the sides. It has nice padding to make your feet comfortable while not sliding into the toe. My son is so relieved to have the pain from running anymore. They are holding up great so far and seem very well made.

[ The Caldera 8 running shoes are the most comfortable running shoes I have ever worn. They fit amazing. They are not to big and not too small. They feel like you are running on air. I love the design as well they are my style. The fabric is breathable and comfortable.

[ These are by far the most absolute comfortable things I have ever absolutely trying. My husband is so excited and absolutely loves them. He is totally obsessed. This is now has go to.

[ The Caldera 8 trail shoes might become my new go to for short to intermediate trail runs( 5- 10K). Time will tell because I 'm not going on many bonafide trail runs since it's winter here in Colorado. The overall stability of the shoe along with the reinforced, super knobby soles made it really comfortable and secure for trails ranging from gravel to rocky/rooted mountain trails. The fit was true, but a bit snug, which seem to be common for the trail runners I own. The shoe is really light given the wide base, thick sole, and as advertised, the most cushioning that Brooks has to offer. I 'm glad they include a heel pull tab, which makes it easier to pull on the shoe if you are using a thicker sock for colder runs. I 've never had trail runners with this thick of a midsole or raised sidewalls but my feet and running stride easily adapted to this shoe, no break- in time required... I just ran out the door without any problems. With so much sidewall and the toe cap, the design of the shoe does n't look flexible, but it surprisingly is. The mesh breathable upper was easy to clean off mud, thorns, etc and you ca n't go wrong with black, gray and white for a mens shoe. I would n't change anything about the Caldera 8, every feature has it's purpose for trail runs, but wearers should be aware... when I wore these shoes for casual, daily outings, I had to be aware of the sticky lugs on the soles: `` TrailTack green '' rubber Brooks calls them- they 're great for traction where you need sure- footing but the grippy soles can get caught on cracks, carpets, even your gas pedal, if you are n't expecting it.
$154.99
Not only are they great to run in, but they provide great cushion and I utilize them as a recovery shoe as well. ... Fit is true to size nice roomy toe box and responsive

I don ’ t run trails a lot but I like having light and comfortable shoes for hikes. These are an excellent choice, the foam offers plenty of protection in rocky terrain but its not so high that you feel unstable. Very first hike with these, I came across snow and mud and am pretty happy with how it held up, great traction and no wet feet. Will probably get a customized version when that ’s available or stock up on alternate colorways.

[ The Nike ACG Pegasus Trail is a super comfortable shoe ready for any trail. The shoe is very grippy and does well in many different types of terrain, even the rockier ones. The upper material forms to the foot great and is very breathable. The midsole material feels very comfortable and the shoe overall feels very stable. The wider toebox allows for a more comfortable fit and is great for more technical trails! Overall, this is an incredibly comfortable and capable trail shoe for short or long trails!

Although they are definitely broke in I ’ m still not having any foot issues and they still have a solid comfy sole on them after all those miles. Highly recommend

The shoe has much improved features. I ’ ve had each iteration and am glad they tossed vibram on it. Kudos to Altra for listening, these shoes are super durable. Only thing that could make this slightly better is a layer of vibram like the lone peak+ fully covering, and longer laces. All that said, they ’ re great, just got a second pair. I love these as a one quiver trail shoe.

Josh
So I started by ordering my normal Altra size: 11. This was perfect length wise until I did an abrupt stop in the store. My foot slid all the way forward and jammed my big toe. The width was too small. Then I tried the 11. 5 and neither issue existed. Now that I have the size dialed in, it is all good. I normally wear stability shoes in 11 wide( Paradigm 8 and Guide 19) for the road, and the Speedgoat 7 in 11. 5 wide in trail shoes. These just have a different kind of ride and fit to them compared to these other shoes, and it is very refreshing. In the 11. 5 size, it is the normal wide toe box Altra fit that feels closer to a zero drop with a softer landing. I live in Reno, NV, and for my typical weather, the grip has been excellent. No hot spots or blisters, and the heel locks down tight with runner loops. The laces are just long enough to relieve a little pressure on the top of the foot if I don ’ t heel locks, which is nice. The shoe breathes moderately. Some reviews I ’ ve read said the tongue was wonky. That hasn ’ t been my experience. It is definitely possible to get it to sit wrong, but you really need to work at it to do it. I will admit, however, it is a comfort focused tongue, so if that isn ’ t your thing, then……….. I have two complaints about the shoe so far, and both are fairly small. The laces could use another couple inches for a heel lock, and they need to change the profile of the laces. I can ’ t get these laces to stay tied if I really get after it. I replaced mine with slightly longer oval laces, and that fixed my complaint. My other complaint is about the lug depth and pattern. Getting to 5mil lugs and the pattern of the lone peak 9+ would make this shoe absolutely unstoppable. They are two very different grip experiences despite both being Vibram. Overall, these have been a great buy for me and my use case. I am not breaking land speed records, and I am not doing Ultras, but my 4- 6 mile adventures over plains, single track, rocks, light mud, steep climbs/descents, and minor pavement has been enjoyable. For context, I am 5 ’ 9 ”, 224 lbs, moderate fitness( Hyrox capable), and mid thirties with no major joint problems.

Initial, early review after 50 miles of use, so reserving one star ATM. Got these to replace my Olympus 5 that I have worn through the heel tabs in 200 miles of use. Primarily used for hiking and short jogs. The 3+ is super comfortable straight out of the box and has a more supportive midsole than the O5. I like the rocker and the sole has excellent traction. Hopefully it holds up a bit better than the last couple of Altras I ’ ve purchased.

Just breaking in my Montrail Trinity AG Trail Shoes. Out of the box, this shoe checks all the boxes. The seamless mesh upper and overlays bode well for comfort and longevity. After sliding them on, literally, easy entry and hugged my foot( Navic Foot System). It's the little things about this shoe that I appreciate. As an middle aged runner, easy on and easy off is appreciated. The laces are not your typical lace, made with some stretch that again makes for an easy comfortable fit. Nice cushioning on the ankle as well. The Trinity has a 8mm drop with 32mm/24mm stack and form me that worked perfectly. First two runs were in soggy spring conditions with a mix of gravel and single track. The 4mm lugs grip well and gave me confidence on the downhills even on that ever tricky wet Ohio clay. Did n't notice the lugs other than their grip which is complimented by the outsole( Adapt Trax), which is a good thing! The ride was smooth and responsive( Techlite+Dual Density Midsole), you DO N'T get the feeling of riding too high that leads to a loss of stability and performance like I 've felt in other max cushioned shoes. The Trinity has married cushion and performance seamlessly. I was able to glide along on the flats as well as take the sharp turns with confidence then bomb the downhills. I had this slight forward propulsion feeling that is always welcome, that comes from the Tech( Adaptive Guidance Pebex Plate) that also does the job taking on heavier rocks and roots. Bottom line these shoes are exactly what I 've been lookin for in a trail shoe. Looking forward to the next 500 miles in these bad boys!

Fit works well for me even though I have wide feet. Ca n't speak to durability yet, but I think the overlways will keep the upper in good shape for many miles to come!

I am an avid trail hiker and runner. I have completed the AT and the PCT and the South Island of the Te Araroa. The fit, comfort and durability of the Wildhorse shoe are extremely good and the weight is as light as I would want it to be for 30 mile days. A couple suggested improvements would be: 1: a lace band in the lace channel so laces can be tucked, 2) a gaiter clip at the front of tongue to attach a gaiter clip, and 3) a small channel in the middle of the sole for a gaiter bottom strap.

Very pleasantly surprised with this shoe. Usually I wear the Zegama and Ultrafly, so thought this shoe would be a step down. But, the lockdown on this shoe is great( better than both shoes above), the midsole is still responsive, the grip is solid( not Vibram, but better than previous Nike outsoles), and it is great on both roads and trails.

Don ’ t normally write reviews and had to reset my password to post this These are a joy to run in. I initially bought these in the stylish yellow for travel sneakers, but once I got home started using them in my runs and it ’s a stunning pleasure to have these in feet especially for long runs Great bounce, arch support, solid but not heavy with great traction. Only draw backs are price( lil steep imo), while the traction is great, durability will be a question wish they went with a better rubber. Also love the textured laces

I bought these for my 17 year old son when we ’ re hiking in Colorado. He said these were the best shoes he had ever wore. They had great support and cushion. He sized down 1/2 a size. This is the second pair I have bought for him because he loves them so much.

[ Caveat: I 'm a trail runner sponsored by The North Face. I was part of the beta testing for the Altamesa 500 and was stoked on the ride and comfort from early on in the process. These are now my go- to shoes for nearly all my long runs and easy/recovery days when I 'm not in one of the VECTIV shoes. They are soft and plush but still feel responsive and stable for all but the most technical terrain.

This shoe works well for me! I put 50 miles on them within the first 3 days and they felt good on the mixed terrain I ran.

[ Not only is this a high performing shoe, but it also looks fantastic! The colors are perfect. The material is the high quality expected from Brooks. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly lightweight this shoe was, especially for a trail shoe. The fit was almost perfect. It was a little tight around the mid foot at first but it felt much better as I progressed through the first run. The lug depth handles wet and muddy trails with ease. My favorite part of this shoe was the cushioning. I have always worn softer shoes and the Catamount 3 is the best I ’ ve ever worn. They have a smooth ride with a considerable amount of energy return which leaves my legs feeling great after every run. These shoes will definitely be a staple for me moving forward!
5
MattL
[ The Catamount 3 are hands down the best pair of running shoes I 've ever owned. From the instant I took them out of the box, I could tell how well designed they were. These shoes are incredibly light- I genuinely felt a boost in my running speed compared to other pairs. The sizing is spot- on in both length and width and the sleek design adds a stylish touch. These shoes also have deep treads which makes them perfect for training in all types of conditions. I 've used them for both short 3- mile runs on city streets as well as for general cross- training in the gym. They were perfect for both scenarios and have become my go to training shoes. The only drawback is that they are not water resistant. I had stepped in a shallow puddle and despite my foot not being fully submerged, water still seeped in. That said, they also performed well on the slippery roads due to their deep treads. So just watch your step!

[ The Catamount 3 is my new go to shoes. I started training for trail running last fall. The weather changed a lot and its very cold, icy and there is snow everywhere. Not a great time to train outdoors but these shoes are also perfect for indoor cross- training. I love these shoes for various reasons:- they are light and with just enough cushioning to feel comfortable and stable- responsive- have a good grip on terrain, both uphill and downhill which is great to get some speed- are very comfortable. I did not get any soreness after the first use- esthetics are nice. They are edgy, modern and unique.- fabric and materials used are of very high quality, as expected Downside: I started picking these shoes everytime. I highly recommend. They seem like they will last for a long time. P. S. I get asked often what brand and model they are while training.

[ I was somewhat skeptical of the color at first, but this shoe has definitely set a new standard for me! They feel great on my feet. They support your feet snugly while remaining ultra comfortable! The textured laces keep the shoes snug. I ’ ve been wearing this shoe for every day activities as well. A great shoe at the gym as well as a day spent walking around the mall. These shoes have kept my feet comfortable during a 9 hour shift at work, and then coming home and chasing two young children around the house.

[ I recently tried the Catamount 4 Tail Shoe. I run mainly on gravel/dirt roads and paths so a trail shoe is a must! These felt a little tight in the uppers for the 1st couple of runs then I fell in love with them and they have been my go to ever since! I usually purchase a size 10 1/2 to an 11 in women ’s and I do prefer a tighter fit. A men ’s 8 1/2 have worked well for me. I have an average width foot and the toe box fit is great. I ’ m 30+ miles in and these have kept me sure footed and the cushion has kept me from any stone bruises! I look forward to many more miles in these! The colors have just been a fun bonus, as the darker teal hasn ’ t gotten dirty looking.

BrooksRunningShoes
[ I had not worn Brooks running shoes before so this was my introduction. I 've been a runner for over 40 years and ran many races- 5K, 10K, 10 Miler, 1/2, and Full Marathons. Now I 'm out there to only compete with myself. These shoes felt really good right away! Lots of cushioning( which I like) and support. I do n't choose running shoes based on how they look but these are nice- looking shoes. It took me a run or two to get used to the difference between my other shoes but now they feel so comfortable. My time has improved a bit also. I need a wide- toe box and these were perfect. I have only run in them in cold weather so I 'm not sure about how they function in the heat. I also only ran on paved roads. PROS: Good support, Plenty of room in the toe box, Plenty of cushioning, lighter than expected, Very comfortable CONS: The tongue is flimsy so you have to hold onto it to put the shoe on. That would not be a deal- breaker for me though.

Jonb
[ After running several miles I can say these are amongst my favorite shoes for trail running. The soles are thick with good cushion with each step. The laces secure tight to my foot with zero sliding around. I have one other pair I currently run in and plan on using these in my rotation going forward. I ’ m also a huge fan of the aesthetic, in fact they ’ re probably my favorite running shoe in terms of appearance and colorway. If I was to purchase another pair, however, I would order a half size up as the toe box is slightly more narrow and my big toe rubs slightly. One major thing to know is there is not a lot of arch support which would make them less ideal if you have a flatter foot. The shoes work well for me and I ’ d happily purchase them again when it ’s time for a new pair.
5
Jarrett
[ I typically wear a size 10 or 10. 5 depending on the brand. The size 10 Catamount 4, fit snuggly and kept my heel locked in place, while still allowing for plenty of wiggle room in the toes. Took these out of the box and went on a quick 8 mile run the first day( paved road) and another 7 miles the following day( paved& some loose gravel). The shoes feel lighter on my feet than I expected, very responsive, and provide a ton of cushioning for the heel. The fabric is lightweight& breathable, which kept my feet from overheating towards the end of runs. It ’s been very dry and warm lately; so, I wasn ’ t able to test how they hold up in inclement weather. The traction is great on loose gravel and paved roads alike. I ’ m a big fan of the color scheme though I know bright colors aren ’ t for everyone. My only complaint is the tongue feels a bit thin and has a tendency to get bunched up when you are putting on the shoes. This isn ’ t a sticking point in the slightest because if you hold onto the tongue while sliding feet into shoes, it ’s no longer a problem. Overall I ’ m extremely satisfied with these shoes and quickly becoming my new go- to.

Marotta
[ The Brooks Catamount 4 are some of the most comfortable running shoes I ’ ve worn. The fabric is sturdy yet breathable and while I do wish they were available in more color options the current design is quite sleek. I was shocked when I first put them on by how light they felt on my feet. I ’ ve run in them multiple times now and am pleased to share that my knees and back do not ache after a long run when I wear these shoes. They provide wonderful support and protection, making running more enjoyable and allowing me to train harder.

For the North American market the UG4 is a quantum leap forward from the previously released UG2. Relieve Sphere and optiFOAM specifically are new components that take an already established UG line up a full level to being a serious competitor. Visually UG4 looks overconstructed, there is a lot going on, but it is remarkably lighter in hand and underfoot than I anticipated. Weighing in at 10oz UG4 hits all of the desirables: durability, stability, responsive, confidence- inspiring, and balanced. This shoe checks all the boxes and passes the all- seasons checklist for running in the Cascades. Another homerun from Salomon!

[ As my first experience with a trail shoe, I was pleasantly surprised by how supportive but light these are. In a pinch I think these could work on the road too. As an added benefit that look great and they 're not overly bulky like some trail shoes. I could imagine using these even as a daily wearer.

[ For some context, I am a male in my mid 20s and I run about 60 miles a week. I am currently training for a 25km race and I primarily used the Zegama 2s for my easy and steady runs. I was quite impressed with the Zegama 2. One notable enhancement is the incorporation of Vibram technology into the outsole, providing excellent grip and stability, particularly on trails. This feature proved invaluable during my off- road sessions. When running, this allowed the ride of the shoe to be grippy and secure. In particular, when on the trails, this was quite handy! However, the Zoom X foam is the highlight of this shoe. Not only is the foam soft and squishy, but it is also offers a high energy return. I found the foam to be most useful on my easy runs. After running a hard session, this shoe works well for easy days on the trails. The high cushioning keeps the muscles fresh. As someone who has ran in many of Nike ’s shoes, I will say that this iteration of Zoom X is not as squishy as the initial generation. It is a firmer version. For comparison, it is similar to the feel of the invincible 3. In terms of fit, the shoe fit true to size. I normally wear a 9. 5 and it fit me perfectly. I appreciate how the upper extends higher than a normal shoe- this helps to prevent dirt and rocks from entering the shoe. However, given its trail- focused design, I wished for a waterproof upper to tackle muddy terrains while keeping my socks dry. Often times, the trails are quite muddy, and by having a waterproof upper, this would serve the shoe well. Nonetheless, the fabric of the upper is comfortable and I did not have any issues with blisters or rubbing. As can be seen by my pictures, I have the shoe in the black and white colorway. The design works well as it hides dirt. Although I already have almost 30 miles on the shoes, they still look brand new! As someone who works nights, I enjoy the little details of the shoe: it says “ all day ” and “ all night ” on each respective tongue. This made me chuckle when I first saw it. In terms of bottom line, I really enjoyed this shoe. The updated outsole works well and the Zoom X cushion is phenomenal. The ride is great and responsive. I imagine I will be reaching for this shoe for all my trail runs, and even for some easy and steady days on the sidewalk. As for potential improvements, waterproofing the upper would undoubtedly elevate this shoe's performance, especially in muddy conditions. If it was waterproof, this shoe would truly be at the top of the trail shoe category. Further, while I love the Zoom X, I do wish it was a softer version of the cushioning. I am not sure what chemical changes have occurred since its debut years ago, but it continues to get firmer with each update. However, some many appreciate this change.

[ As an avid trail runner constantly seeking the perfect blend of performance, comfort, and durability, I was thrilled to get my hands( or should I say, feet) on the Nike ZoomX Zegama Trail 2. And let me tell you, this shoe did not disappoint; in fact, it exceeded all my expectations. Firstly, let's talk about comfort. The ZoomX midsole cushioning is a game- changer. It's incredibly responsive, providing a plush feel underfoot while still maintaining a lightweight design. Whether I 'm navigating rocky terrain or cruising through muddy paths, the ZoomX foam absorbs impact exceptionally well, sparing my joints from unnecessary stress and fatigue. But comfort alone is n't enough for serious trail runners. We need traction that can handle a variety of surfaces and conditions. The Zegama Trail 2 delivers on this front with its aggressive outsole featuring multidirectional lugs. I felt confident tackling steep ascents and descents, knowing that the shoe's grip would keep me stable and sure- footed every step of the way. Durability is another key factor, especially when you 're putting in serious mileage on rugged trails. Nike has spared no expense in crafting a shoe that can withstand the toughest of terrains. The reinforced upper provides ample protection against abrasions and debris, while strategic overlays enhance the shoe's overall structural integrity. After numerous runs, my Zegama Trail 2 still looks and feels as good as new, a testament to its robust construction. Beyond its technical prowess, the Zegama Trail 2 also scores high marks in terms of aesthetics. The sleek design, coupled with bold colorways, ensures that you 'll stand out on the trails for all the right reasons. Plus, the attention to detail, from the reflective elements for added visibility to the padded collar for enhanced ankle support, further showcases Nike's commitment to both style and functionality. In conclusion, the Nike ZoomX Zegama Trail 2 is a top- tier trail running shoe that ticks all the boxes for discerning runners. Whether you 're a seasoned veteran seeking your next PR or a weekend warrior looking to elevate your outdoor adventures, this shoe is a must- have addition to your gear arsenal. With its unbeatable combination of comfort, traction, and durability, the Zegama Trail 2 empowers you to push your limits and conquer any trail with confidence.

[ I ’ ve been running in the Men ’s Cascadia 19 GTX for a few weeks now, and I ’ m genuinely impressed. The Gore- Tex lining keeps my feet completely dry even on muddy trails and during rainy runs, while still allowing breathability. The updated midsole feels more responsive and cushioned compared to earlier versions, offering great comfort on uneven terrain. Traction is solid, and the lugs grip well without feeling bulky. I also appreciate the secure fit — it hugs the foot nicely without being too tight. Overall, it ’s become my go- to trail shoe for wet and unpredictable conditions.
5
Siva
[ The Cascadia 19 GTX is an exceptional hiking shoe that delivers outstanding support and comfort — perfectly suited for Portland ’s summer trails. Portland in July offers warm, dry, and sunny conditions, and only occasional rainfall. These conditions make it an ideal time for hiking in local hiking trails like in areas like Forest Park, the Columbia River Gorge, or Mount Tabor. But even with mostly dry weather, sudden changes can occur in our area, and that ’s where the Cascadia 19 GTX shines. The shoe features an innovative Trail Adapt system, built for durability and stability. Its rugged outsole rubber provides excellent traction, whether you 're trekking on dry gravel or navigating a surprise summer shower. The integrated flexible rock plate adds a protective layer in the sole, enhancing stability on uneven terrain — something I truly value after past slips on wet trails. The GORE- TEX upper, bonded seamlessly with the shoe, makes it both breathable and waterproof — a must- have for Portland ’s unpredictable microclimates. Brooks ’ signature DNA Loft v3 cushioning — a blend of foam, rubber, and air — offers plush comfort and responsive support, especially in the midsole. It ’s noticeably soft and supportive, making long hikes feel effortless. Despite its rugged build, the Cascadia 19 GTX is lightweight and flexible, making it a joy to wear on both urban trails and backcountry adventures. Having said all the good things about the shoe If am going to nitpick the only thing is that I am not a fan of the color scheme of my pair. It was more appealing in the picture than in person. In summary, this shoe is a reliable companion for Portland ’s summer hikes. It handles both dry and damp conditions with ease, offers excellent traction, and keeps your feet comfortable and protected all day long.

[ I absolutely love these shoes. Brooks is always my go to brand for comfort and I ’ ve always wanted an option for when I ’ m out hiking or running in the rain. These shoes fit the bill to a tee. They are true to size and like most Brooks are super comfy. I love that they are waterproof so I can feel comfortable wearing them out in the rain and I love the look and design. I wouldn ’ t wear these casually as the waterproof aspect does prevent some ventilation from getting in, but I ’ d defo keep these in my rotation for rainy days, trail hikes, or camping adventures. Overall a great pair of shoes.

[ I ’ ve been really impressed with the Brooks Cascadia 19 GTX. Right out of the box, I loved the style — sleek enough to wear out running errands, yet rugged enough for my training runs. The design strikes that rare balance between function and everyday wearability. From a performance standpoint, these shoes delivered exactly what I needed. I used them on both pavement and dirt trails, and they felt equally supportive across surfaces. The cushioning is excellent — enough to absorb impact on longer runs without feeling bulky — and I noticed the difference in how much better my knees felt afterward. The upper fabric feels high- quality and durable, with just the right amount of structure to keep my feet supported, even on uneven terrain. The GTX version also held up well in wet conditions, keeping my feet dry without overheating. Overall, the Cascadia 19 GTX is a well- designed, versatile shoe that supports my training needs and looks great while doing it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a trail shoe that performs well and doesn ’ t compromise on comfort or style.

Great Customer service. I went to this location on the recommendation from a gym member on where to get good shoes. I could n't remember the brand. But within a couple minutes Jalen in the athletic shoe department knew the shoes I was looking for. He was very knowledgeable about all the brands the store carried and knew of several other brands I had in mind. This store is n't a convenient location for me. But I will return for the customer experience. The cashier Isaiah was helpful at contacting the Manager Chloe to come over when I wanted to compliment how well Jalen had assisted me with my purchase. These are all young adults who are all excelling during the busy holiday shopping season. I will defiantly return to this location and for the great customer service.

Long time fan of the New Balance Hierro line. This is the 2nd pair of the V9's that I own. One pair is my `` going- out '' pair and these are my work/daily shoes. I have purchased V6's all the way up to the V9's. Buy far, these have the best cushioning out of all the other models with a super grippy tread. You can wear these all day and not experience fatigue like other `` Runner '' shoes. Ca n't say enough good things about them.

I am a size 13 extra wide, which in and of itself limits the type of shoes that are available. This is the second time I have purchased the Heirro type shoe. The width was slightly tight to start, but broke in very easily. They are comfortable to wear all day on different types of surfaces and provide good moisture resistance.

I do modest mileage of around 15- 20 per week. I am in my fifties. These are the best running shoes I have ever worn. I have worn Brooks, Altra, and Hoka in the bast. I have tried zero drop and traditional heel stacks. This shoe beats them all: its wide, in four hundred miles i have fallen a few times from dog leash entanglement and tripping on tree roots or a hard to see step. But not ONCE have I had an ankle twist. In the Hoka years a while back I had several, and gave up on cushy shoes. Now I know I need them, which makes midlife, arthritic running far more enjoyable. Also, these work perfectly for a midfoot strike running form. Just enough drop to be comfortable while keeping things very light on the heel, and unlike many running shoes they seem more durable than toilet paper, although they still require bi- yearly pulls out of the local shoe dispensor.

Recently disposed of SpeedGoat 5 after nearly two years of exercise and daily wear. SG7 seems to have the same strengths and less weaknesses as its predecessor. Loved the former for traction, comfort and durability. The latter is lighter and slightly more streamlined and nimble. After 10+ walk- jogs, I can tell that these are worth every penny I paid. Should probably be hunting another pair in my rare size

[ I ’ ve got the OG Evo SL, the Woven, and now a pair of these. These are the most stable and structured. I prefer the OG and Woven for flat runs, but this one has versatility for bad roads and some off- road work. It is still too unstable, for me, for single- track trail work. But for just about anything else it is great. A little less exciting than the OG, but sometimes I need that. From an appearance perspective this one looks really mean, in a good way.
5
JK88
I wasn ’ t sure if I would like them because I heard they were stiffer than the SL ’s but I was impressed! They are very comfortable and the waterproofing is actually really good( I ’ ve ran through 5 inches of snow and feet stayed dry). My only minor issues with the shoes: they are a little heavy( to be expected for what they added vs SL) and the lugs are pretty small. Even though they are small compared to other winter shoes, they still make the traction far superior to the SL ’s during winter runs but don ’ t expect to go on snowy /icy trails in these and not risk slipping a little. I used them to run on paved snowy/icy paths and they got the job done. Overall, really great addition for my winter runs especially at this price point!

My most favorite shoe I ’ ve ever had. They are my everyday wear. I have a unique job and lifestyle so I can wear these for travel, leisure, the gym, hiking, working on the house etc. I ’ ve had them about 5- 6 months and no issues. The BOA system works like the day I bought them. So happy to find a quality product in these days of cheap garbage products everywhere your turn. They tighten very well and snug, I live in Chicago and are safe and grippy on slippery sidewalks, good on dirt trails, and great in the gym as well. Highly recommended fellas.

I 've done a handful of runs in these shoes so far including a SUPER hilly FKT attempt and they are so ridiculously lightweight and fast. Its crazy to have 5mm lugs on a shoe that weights so little but thats what you 're getting with these! The lockdown is next level as well as these fit like a sock. Overall very happy with these shoes

First hard effort in these was an 11 mile trail race in the Adirondacks. Weight is superb and grip was more than adequate through a mix of singletrack, mud, roots and rock slick with humidity. I 'd last run this course in a pair of VJ Sparks and these were better in nearly every regard. Race went great. The fit is just a bit long and I did kick the toe a few times- if purchasing again I 'm 50- 50 staying with my size or going down a half. Only other change I 'd make is a millimeter or two more of foam- barely more, but these did feel a little bit harsh at low 5/min downhill miles. That said, they ARE race shoes. Great job Merrell.

After an initial 10 mile trail run, I took this bad boys out to Spartan Poconos outisde of Palmerton, PA. This was about 6. 5 miles with close to 3k ft of evelation gain, and some of the trails were extremely rocky. As long as the shoe laces were snug, they hugged my feet super well, even on the extremely steep downhills. They shed water like a champ, and honestly I do not see a single sign of wear. I was worried I would get a hole from all those rocks, but nothing. I 'll be taking them to an 18 mile trail in Washington state in two weeks and very much looking forward to it!

Honestly a lot of ppl had negative things to say and maybe that ’s true compared to the previous models but these are awesome. I have several pairs of Merrells and these are my favorite. Minimal, breathable, just enough padding. I wear them daily because they allow my feet to breathe. They also feel great. I bought a black pair for work. I haven ’ t ran in them but they could definitely do that on some trails. I use the MTL Skyfire 2s for trail running. Great for gym. I give them 5/5.

This is my 4th pair of Trail Gloves and use them for daily work outs and light hikes on trails. I still wear an older pair for daily use. They are lightweight, comfortable, supportive, zero drop, and have a sturdier sole than the Vapor Trail( which I also like). These are great minimalist shoes, with a slightly more rugged sole. Will buy again and definitely recommend yto others.
5
This is by far the most comfortable shoe I ’ ve owned. I ’ ve found the perfect shoe for my feet. I have an arch so the zero drop stuff isn ’ t all that comfortable for me, this shoe is minimal but has nice arch support. I bought 3 different pairs and now can ’ t go back and wear previous versions of the trail glove as they are too constricting and aren ’ t nearly as comfortable as this shoe.

[ My first initial thought once getting the Nike ReactX Pegasus Trail 5 out of the box was the sleek yet stand out design and ALL THAT FOAM. Once getting it on feet it felt as comfortable and welcoming as putting a glove on. This shoe is meant for hiking in mind however it is also just a great overall everyday shoe. Going to to the store, going on a walk at my local dog park or even just a nice change of shoes from my normal Jordan ’s or Dunk lows! The shoe feels well put together overall. At first glance the carbon fiber- esque overlay on the inside middle of the shoe doesn ’ t seem like it would do much but as someone who has wider feet naturally it helped keep my foot compressed and on the bed of the shoe where it should be. As well as keeping the shape of the shoe the same for more wears and longer life span for the shoe. I would have to say my only gripe is the back tabs loop used to more comfortably put on the seems flimsy at first and I did refrain from using it in the worries of ripping or damaging the back. Maybe a thicker loop or removal of the strap for other features or design would be my suggestion. Overrall however I feel extremely fortunate I was able to wear these shoes first hand and try them on. It ’ ll definitely be my contender when it comes to any future hiking, trail or everyday shoe!

[ The fit and feel of the shoe was great right from the box. When I first put them on, I thought they would need to be broken in but the feel was great. Sturdy yet soft if that makes sense. The design is great and the hook on the end makes the practical to put on and off. Esthetically, they are easy on the eyes and blend well with whatever you are wearing. The fabric was good. On my run at the beach, there were some puddles and the fabric held up well. I used them at the gym as well and during my workouts they held their own. The shoe overall impressed me as it provide comfort and support. The color accents and materials were great and they have held up to my runs and workouts. I would maybe make them all black or make the sole a bit darker. Overall, it is a great shoe

I really like these shoes. I had the previous edition, and those were my favorite shoe maybe ever. Build quality, solid, even better than the 4s. I needed some hiking shoes to hike North Cascades National Park in Seattle. Never had hiking shoes before, but hated that they looked so clunky. I saw that trail running shoes work well for hikes as well and allow your feet to stay flexible. I saw these for sale and gave it a try. Wow. It genuinely provided so much support for hiking and light jogging. I hiked through brush, rocks, gravel, tree roots, grass, and other terrains. I did n't slip a single time and the shoes really cushioned each step. Safe to say, I would have been doomed with regular running shoes. After hiking a few days, the shoes still looked new! They were a bit dusty from the trail itself, though. Treads on the bottom looked new, did n't see any scratches or gouges, laces were not frayed. I got the Gore- Tex variant, so at the end of the hike, I walked into the shallow end of a lake and wiped them off, no water got in. I half- sized up. My regular shoe size is a 9, but I went 9. 5 because I wore thicker socks and appreciate the toe room during hiking as I do n't want my toes banging the front of the shoe. Feet also swell when hiking. All in all, I hiked around 20 miles on this trip as well as walking around city areas, so probably closer to 30 miles. I had no issues whatsoever and would recommend them. If Nike wants to sponsor me for this review, I 'm all ears because they 've won me over with these purposeful shoes.

When selecting cushioned trail running shoes for men, consider features such as the level of cushioning, traction, and support. Look for shoes that provide ample shock absorption to protect your feet on uneven terrain. Additionally, a durable outsole with good grip is essential for stability on trails.
Cushioned trail running shoes are specifically designed for off-road conditions, offering enhanced grip and stability compared to regular running shoes. They typically have a more rugged outsole to handle various terrains and provide additional cushioning to absorb impact from rocks and roots. This makes them ideal for trail running where terrain can be unpredictable.
Cushioned trail running shoes often feature lightweight and breathable materials such as mesh for the upper, which helps with ventilation. The midsole is usually made from foam or gel for cushioning, while the outsole is crafted from durable rubber for traction and longevity. These materials work together to provide comfort and performance on trails.
Cushioned trail running shoes are designed to handle a variety of trail conditions, from smooth paths to rugged terrain. However, the level of cushioning and traction may vary between models, so it's important to choose a shoe that matches the specific type of trails you plan to run on. For very technical or steep trails, you may want to consider shoes with more aggressive tread patterns.
Fit is crucial when selecting cushioned trail running shoes, as a proper fit can enhance comfort and performance. Look for shoes that provide enough room in the toe box to allow for natural movement, while also ensuring a snug fit around the midfoot and heel. Trying on shoes with the socks you plan to wear can help ensure the best fit for your trail running needs.
