I 'm about 5 runs into this shoe at about 3 mi each run. I was looking for my usual GT- 2000 trail but, seems even Asics site does not have them so I took a chance on these. I 'm glad I did. They are very comfortable and have good traction on pavement and along the prairie path tiny gravel. I have worn a size 9 in GT- 1000, GT- 2000, and Gel Venture. After logging 30+ miles in the shoes, I ’ ve found my times are averaging about 7 seconds faster than in my previous pair of Nike Reacts. The toe box feels a bit wide, but after running a few times you begin to understand the shape a bit more. The only issue I ’ ve seen is that the laces can come undone rather easily and double knitting is required, but you should do that anyway;)

While this shoes offers a see through material that may not seem that durable, it has surprised me as to how durable it has been. I just ran a 50km race with 5, 000 feet of elevation gain and loss wearing these shoes. I was nervous that the toe box height would be too short, but that didn ’ t end up being an issue at all. I didn ’ t get a single blister after getting them from other trail shoes. The front toe shield definitely saved my big toe more than once after slamming into some rocks. I ’ d recommend them for lighter mud and snow conditions, but overall they were very comfortable and fast. They fit true to size to my vaporflys. Very satisfied and an eye catching piece.

I just ordered my second pair of the Rubatos to replace the ones I ordered a year ago. I walk about 1- 4 miles a day and have worn these on about 66% of those walks. They provide plenty of cushioning and support. I can wear these for long periods of time without my lower back and feet hurting. Suggestions to make this the perfect shoe: a little bit better ventilation, a little more width in the toe box and maybe add 1mm to the lugs. The lack of availability in colors and sizes makes me think these are or will be discontinued:>{ I wish Merrell would make more zero drop shoes and sandals.

I 'm an avid runner getting about 20- 25 miles per week over three runs. I spend as much time as I can on the trail. I started with the Timp for a few seasons, then progressed to the Mount Blanc and always avoided the Olympus because it just looked like it would be too unstable and heavy. I was really surprised with the firmness and stability of the cushioning, and compared to the Mount Blanc there is little to no heel movement. My feet also feel much more protected with this upper versus the Mount Blanc. That said they are a bit heavier, but nothing too noticeable. On the downhill I feel like I can press on the gas with more control. I 'd recommend giving them a try!

[ Altra sent me these shoes to try for free, and I 've since put 35- 40 miles on with them. In that time, I 've taken them through all sort of off road terrains: gravel, grassed trails, mulched trails, sandy beaches, and sand dunes. These shoes have conquered them all with ease. I have wide feet and these shoes feature a wider toe box that is hands down the most comfortable running experience I 've had- especially without a lengthy break- in period. Usually, it takes me about 20- 30 miles to break in a shoe to the point where I can run in them for more than a mile without pressure points. I never had that issues with these shoes! I thought the extended sole would change my stride, or create a different impact point on my foot, but I really have n't noticed. But, I would definitely say it adds additional stability to the shoe while on uneven terrain. I would n't say that they 're a shoes I would wear going up a extremely technical course, but they can handle a heck of a lot more than a flat land run. I ca n't comment to much on the durability of the shoe, but I see no red flags yet. I 'm looking forward to putting more miles on these beauties! Could n't recommend them enough; especially for folks with wide feet.

Just make sure to get a size with a little extra room so that your toes do n't get cramped when you are going down hill. Overall, I would definitely recommend these shoes! [ Cushioned in all the right places. Trying out the new Altra Olympus 6 trail shoes. They offer great support and traction on the trails. No hot spots, the right amount of cushion and support. I liked the heal cushion support to keep the heel locked in on the up hills. I also love the toe guard that blocks the direct hits from rocks on the toes. I have a bunion on my right foot, so this toe shape box is perfect for those with wide feet. I 'd highly recommend these for anyone looking for more support on those long trail runs. Even though there is more cushion, I did n't feel that they were heavy or slowing me down. The longest run I 've done on them is 7 miles, and average about 9: 14/mile, on dry dirt single track trails in Forest Park, Oregon. Traction was good on loose gravel and rocks. The extra cushion absorbrs those sharp rocks. ALTRA gave me this free product to try.

[ The new Olympus 6 is comfort right out of the box with little to no break in time. The Vibram sole provides great traction on dirt trails, rocks and wet rocks at river crossings. The cushioned midsole provides the right blend of comfort, cushion and the ability to feel the trail under your feet. Combine those with a secure heal cup and a comfortable lining inside and I was able to backpack 16 miles days in comfort with no break in time. The only problem I had was on the left shoe. The side of the shoe did hit the bottom of my ankle bone. It's a problem that I have with many shoes that most people do n't seem to have so do n't let it stop you from trying the new Olympus 6. Altra did give me this shoe to try but that does not affect my review.

The Olympus 275 was the first pair of Altras I tried…when I put them on it was as if the clouds parted, angels sang, and shafts of light shone down upon my feet! Not even joking…the level of comfort was pretty amazing. Recently hiked the West Highland Way in 4 days( 96 miles) …I used both the Olympus 275s and the Timpe 5 Gortex for anticipated rain and wetter sections of the trail. Both performed flawlessly but I do prefer the fit of the 275s over the Timpe. Almost all of my co- hikers suffered blisters…but I had all of the toe splay room in my shoe selection and really had no issues. I also really appreciated the Vibram Megagrip soles…they stuck to everything!

I switched to the 275 from the Olympus 6 due to the lighter weight and the addition of the fabric that acts like a gator to prevent rocks and debris from coming in shoe. My wife and I just completed the Camino Frances with these shoes( both of us wore the 275). My wife's shoes look like they have hardly been used and although mine are dirty, they are still in incredible shape as well. We decided to order new 275's to be delivered to us in Leon, Spain. I was a bit worried that I might need a break- in period but no break in period for us was needed at all! I do lace my shoes a bit different as I skip the first eye lace to provide a bit more room in the upper as I use Sole inserts. The Vibram sole lasted well and worked perfectly providing the necessary grip and comfort on long days. The shoes in the picture have about 300 miles on them and although they need a cleaning, they lasted very well with little wear shown. The extra fabric Altra added to the heal was also extremely comfortable and wore very well and did it's job well in keeping debris out of the shoe. I give these shoes a 5 out of 5 rating without any hesitation.

I have logged 250 miles on these shoes in rocky and technical New England mountain terrain, and I am very impressed. The fit, cushion, and flexibility is extremely comfortable. The grip is better than I have experienced with any other shoes. Most importantly, the Matryx upper is extremely durable and breathable. They are comfortable with good padding and are so light you won ’ t believe it. The Caldera 8 hold the foot and helps maintain a good stride while feeling solid. [ The Caldera 8 trail shoes might become my new go to for short to intermediate trail runs( 5- 10K). Time will tell because I 'm not going on many bonafide trail runs since it's winter here in Colorado. The overall stability of the shoe along with the reinforced, super knobby soles made it really comfortable and secure for trails ranging from gravel to rocky/rooted mountain trails. The fit was true, but a bit snug, which seem to be common for the trail runners I own. The shoe is really light given the wide base, thick sole, and as advertised, the most cushioning that Brooks has to offer. I 'm glad they include a heel pull tab, which makes it easier to pull on the shoe if you are using a thicker sock for colder runs. I 've never had trail runners with this thick of a midsole or raised sidewalls but my feet and running stride easily adapted to this shoe, no break- in time required... I just ran out the door without any problems. With so much sidewall and the toe cap, the design of the shoe does n't look flexible, but it surprisingly is. The mesh breathable upper was easy to clean off mud, thorns, etc and you ca n't go wrong with black, gray and white for a mens shoe. I would n't change anything about the Caldera 8, every feature has it's purpose for trail runs, but wearers should be aware... when I wore these shoes for casual, daily outings, I had to be aware of the sticky lugs on the soles: `` TrailTack green '' rubber Brooks calls them- they 're great for traction where you need sure- footing but the grippy soles can get caught on cracks, carpets, even your gas pedal, if you are n't expecting it.

I don ’ t run trails a lot but I like having light and comfortable shoes for hikes. These are an excellent choice, the foam offers plenty of protection in rocky terrain but its not so high that you feel unstable. Very first hike with these, I came across snow and mud and am pretty happy with how it held up, great traction and no wet feet. Will probably get a customized version when that ’s available or stock up on alternate colorways.

I have put about 15 miles on my ProMorphs so far- the “ rolling ” feel off the toes is quite smooth and lends itself to a speedy experience. For such a tall stack it is very well balanced. Shoes tend to be too narrow for my feet- but the ProMorph fit nicely!

The shoe has much improved features. I ’ ve had each iteration and am glad they tossed vibram on it. Kudos to Altra for listening, these shoes are super durable. Only thing that could make this slightly better is a layer of vibram like the lone peak+ fully covering, and longer laces. All that said, they ’ re great, just got a second pair. I love these as a one quiver trail shoe.

So I started by ordering my normal Altra size: 11. This was perfect length wise until I did an abrupt stop in the store. My foot slid all the way forward and jammed my big toe. The width was too small. Then I tried the 11. 5 and neither issue existed. Now that I have the size dialed in, it is all good. I normally wear stability shoes in 11 wide( Paradigm 8 and Guide 19) for the road, and the Speedgoat 7 in 11. 5 wide in trail shoes. These just have a different kind of ride and fit to them compared to these other shoes, and it is very refreshing. In the 11. 5 size, it is the normal wide toe box Altra fit that feels closer to a zero drop with a softer landing. I live in Reno, NV, and for my typical weather, the grip has been excellent. No hot spots or blisters, and the heel locks down tight with runner loops. The laces are just long enough to relieve a little pressure on the top of the foot if I don ’ t heel locks, which is nice. The shoe breathes moderately. Some reviews I ’ ve read said the tongue was wonky. That hasn ’ t been my experience. It is definitely possible to get it to sit wrong, but you really need to work at it to do it. I will admit, however, it is a comfort focused tongue, so if that isn ’ t your thing, then……….. I have two complaints about the shoe so far, and both are fairly small. The laces could use another couple inches for a heel lock, and they need to change the profile of the laces. I can ’ t get these laces to stay tied if I really get after it. I replaced mine with slightly longer oval laces, and that fixed my complaint. My other complaint is about the lug depth and pattern. Getting to 5mil lugs and the pattern of the lone peak 9+ would make this shoe absolutely unstoppable. They are two very different grip experiences despite both being Vibram. Overall, these have been a great buy for me and my use case. I am not breaking land speed records, and I am not doing Ultras, but my 4- 6 mile adventures over plains, single track, rocks, light mud, steep climbs/descents, and minor pavement has been enjoyable. For context, I am 5 ’ 9 ”, 224 lbs, moderate fitness( Hyrox capable), and mid thirties with no major joint problems.

Just breaking in my Montrail Trinity AG Trail Shoes. Out of the box, this shoe checks all the boxes. The seamless mesh upper and overlays bode well for comfort and longevity. After sliding them on, literally, easy entry and hugged my foot( Navic Foot System). It's the little things about this shoe that I appreciate. As an middle aged runner, easy on and easy off is appreciated. The laces are not your typical lace, made with some stretch that again makes for an easy comfortable fit. Nice cushioning on the ankle as well. The Trinity has a 8mm drop with 32mm/24mm stack and form me that worked perfectly. First two runs were in soggy spring conditions with a mix of gravel and single track. The 4mm lugs grip well and gave me confidence on the downhills even on that ever tricky wet Ohio clay. Did n't notice the lugs other than their grip which is complimented by the outsole( Adapt Trax), which is a good thing! The ride was smooth and responsive( Techlite+Dual Density Midsole), you DO N'T get the feeling of riding too high that leads to a loss of stability and performance like I 've felt in other max cushioned shoes. The Trinity has married cushion and performance seamlessly. I was able to glide along on the flats as well as take the sharp turns with confidence then bomb the downhills. I had this slight forward propulsion feeling that is always welcome, that comes from the Tech( Adaptive Guidance Pebex Plate) that also does the job taking on heavier rocks and roots. Bottom line these shoes are exactly what I 've been lookin for in a trail shoe. Looking forward to the next 500 miles in these bad boys!

I am an avid trail hiker and runner. I have completed the AT and the PCT and the South Island of the Te Araroa. The fit, comfort and durability of the Wildhorse shoe are extremely good and the weight is as light as I would want it to be for 30 mile days. A couple suggested improvements would be: 1: a lace band in the lace channel so laces can be tucked, 2) a gaiter clip at the front of tongue to attach a gaiter clip, and 3) a small channel in the middle of the sole for a gaiter bottom strap.

The first thing I noticed was how incredibly lightweight this shoe was, especially for a trail shoe. The fit was almost perfect. It was a little tight around the mid foot at first but it felt much better as I progressed through the first run. The lug depth handles wet and muddy trails with ease. My favorite part of this shoe was the cushioning. I have always worn softer shoes and the Catamount 3 is the best I ’ ve ever worn. These shoes are incredibly light- I genuinely felt a boost in my running speed compared to other pairs. The sizing is spot- on in both length and width and the sleek design adds a stylish touch. These shoes also have deep treads which makes them perfect for training in all types of conditions. I 've used them for both short 3- mile runs on city streets as well as for general cross- training in the gym. They were perfect for both scenarios and have become my go to training shoes. The only drawback is that they are not water resistant. I had stepped in a shallow puddle and despite my foot not being fully submerged, water still seeped in. That said, they also performed well on the slippery roads due to their deep treads. So just watch your step!

[ The Catamount 3 is my new go to shoes. I started training for trail running last fall. The weather changed a lot and its very cold, icy and there is snow everywhere. Not a great time to train outdoors but these shoes are also perfect for indoor cross- training. I love these shoes for various reasons:- they are light and with just enough cushioning to feel comfortable and stable- responsive- have a good grip on terrain, both uphill and downhill which is great to get some speed- are very comfortable. I did not get any soreness after the first use- esthetics are nice. [ I recently tried the Catamount 4 Tail Shoe. I run mainly on gravel/dirt roads and paths so a trail shoe is a must! These felt a little tight in the uppers for the 1st couple of runs then I fell in love with them and they have been my go to ever since! I usually purchase a size 10 1/2 to an 11 in women ’s and I do prefer a tighter fit. A men ’s 8 1/2 have worked well for me. I have an average width foot and the toe box fit is great. I ’ m 30+ miles in and these have kept me sure footed and the cushion has kept me from any stone bruises! I look forward to many more miles in these! The colors have just been a fun bonus, as the darker teal hasn ’ t gotten dirty looking.

[ I had not worn Brooks running shoes before so this was my introduction. I 've been a runner for over 40 years and ran many races- 5K, 10K, 10 Miler, 1/2, and Full Marathons. Now I 'm out there to only compete with myself. These shoes felt really good right away! Lots of cushioning( which I like) and support. I do n't choose running shoes based on how they look but these are nice- looking shoes. It took me a run or two to get used to the difference between my other shoes but now they feel so comfortable. My time has improved a bit also. I need a wide- toe box and these were perfect. I have only run in them in cold weather so I 'm not sure about how they function in the heat. I also only ran on paved roads. PROS: Good support, Plenty of room in the toe box, Plenty of cushioning, lighter than expected, Very comfortable CONS: The tongue is flimsy so you have to hold onto it to put the shoe on. That would not be a deal- breaker for me though.

[ After running several miles I can say these are amongst my favorite shoes for trail running. The soles are thick with good cushion with each step. The laces secure tight to my foot with zero sliding around. I have one other pair I currently run in and plan on using these in my rotation going forward. I ’ m also a huge fan of the aesthetic, in fact they ’ re probably my favorite running shoe in terms of appearance and colorway. If I was to purchase another pair, however, I would order a half size up as the toe box is slightly more narrow and my big toe rubs slightly. One major thing to know is there is not a lot of arch support which would make them less ideal if you have a flatter foot. The shoes work well for me and I ’ d happily purchase them again when it ’s time for a new pair.

[ I typically wear a size 10 or 10. 5 depending on the brand. The size 10 Catamount 4, fit snuggly and kept my heel locked in place, while still allowing for plenty of wiggle room in the toes. Took these out of the box and went on a quick 8 mile run the first day( paved road) and another 7 miles the following day( paved& some loose gravel). The shoes feel lighter on my feet than I expected, very responsive, and provide a ton of cushioning for the heel. The fabric is lightweight& breathable, which kept my feet from overheating towards the end of runs. It ’s been very dry and warm lately; so, I wasn ’ t able to test how they hold up in inclement weather. The traction is great on loose gravel and paved roads alike. I ’ m a big fan of the color scheme though I know bright colors aren ’ t for everyone. My only complaint is the tongue feels a bit thin and has a tendency to get bunched up when you are putting on the shoes. This isn ’ t a sticking point in the slightest because if you hold onto the tongue while sliding feet into shoes, it ’s no longer a problem. Overall I ’ m extremely satisfied with these shoes and quickly becoming my new go- to.

[ I went on a 10+ mile hike with over 2500 feet of elevation gain in the Nike ACG Pegasus Trail GTX, and they were amazing. On the first half of the hike( mostly uphill), the trail was pretty dusty with lots of gravel. The elastic/sock part around the ankles did a great job at keeping the dust and gravel out of the shoes. On the second half( mostly downhill), it actually rained and the GTX weatherproofing kept my feet almost entirely dry. So the materials are very high quality and they do their job. There is practically no wear on the shoes from this hike, so I anticipate they are very durable and will last a very long time. The shoes run true to size and the cushioning is amazing. I could feel the terrain I was walking on, but nothing was poking or pinching my feet. I even tried jogging short portions of the trail, and my feet did not hurt or get tired during the hike. I did have some foot pain and fatigue afterwards, but that was just due to it being a very difficult hike and not the fault of the shoes. The outsole is super durable and grippy. The only time I slipped a little bit was when I pushed the shoes ’ limits and stepped on wet and slippery rocks. But even then, they provided a surprising about of grip. The heel cup is very well designed so that the shoes provide great ankle support while being low- tops. I was very comfortable with stepping on uneven surfaces without worrying about spraining my ankles. The shoes also look great. The design has lots of paneling, which gives many opportunities for different color ways. There are also many different textures so that more simple color ways still look interesting and cool. Outside of hiking, these shoes look great with any active fit, and they are comfortable enough to wear at the gym or casually. Overall, the Nike ACG Pegasus Trail GTX are the best trail shoes I have tried and I can not find a single thing I would change about these shoes.

[ These ACG Pegasus Trail Gtx are one of the best versatile shoes I 've put on in a while. They are `` minimalist/simple shoes '' that really get the job done. From the moment you put them on you can really tell how comfortable they are. No break in period needed at all as the fabric makes you feel light and secure. Im not that much of a consistent runner but on the singular run up to this point that I 've used them, I have 0 complaints about them. All the other time as a casual shoe they obviously do the job very well. I would have to assume they do great in all the terrains as it feels very grippy/responsive regardless if it's a short or long run. In terms of the waterproofness I ca n't really comment on that yet as there have n't been rainy days for me lately but I 'd imagine it would do the job fairly well. I own a couple of Gore- tex shoes that give me enough reassurance to hold that claim.

[ Coming from the Pegasus 5 Trail GTX there are two real improvements that I appreciate and would make me instantly recommend this over that alternative. The first, crucially, is that the toebox is( slightly) wider/taller. I found the non- ACG version to be so narrow that it was n't comfortable for long hikes/trail sessions since my toes could n't splay and feel stable( I have slightly wider than average feet with a larger big toe joint). The second is that the foam cushioning is thicker and not exposed so it's much softer from the start. This may be a good or bad thing based on what you prefer. That said, one gripe remains across both models which is the very short ankle gaiter is not truly sealed/stitched with the tongue, which is stitched only most of the way to the upper so there is a gap( see photo) where water can enter your shoe from the front. I 'd consider this shoe okay for very shallow puddles at most.

I was already a fan of the original Sylan and I think the updates here have only made it an even better shoe. Early spring means generally muckier trails around NYC, so I like the updated lug pattern, which will more readily shed mud and dirt. I 'm glad that the rocker shape and highly breathable upper are still present because of the overall comfort they provide. I do n't have ankle stability issues, but those who are tentative on more technical terrain should notice improved stability from the forked carbon plate. Last, but not least, the supercritical foam upgrade added enough bounce that I even wore these for the NYC Half- Marathon a few days ago- a road race.( Note: these are not designed for road running and wearing them for that purpose will not be suitable for everyone!) For me, these fit true to size.

As a runner who had the opportunity to thoroughly test the Arc'teryx Sylan in real mountain conditions, I can confidently say that this is an exceptionally well engineered piece of trail footwear that genuinely impressed me with its performance. From the very first impression, I appreciated the work of the designer their attention to detail, ergonomics, and technical execution is clearly evident. In my view, they have done an outstanding job and deserve recognition for successfully combining functionality with a modern, refined design. In the field, what stood out the most was the traction. The outsole delivers outstanding grip across a wide range of surfaces from wet rocks to loose, technical terrain. Even at higher speeds, I felt confident and stable with every step, which is absolutely critical in mountain running. I was also very impressed with the cushioning. The shoe effectively absorbs impact while maintaining a responsive feel, avoiding any sense of dullness underfoot. Even on longer runs, I experienced consistent comfort and stability without unnecessary strain on my feet. Overall, I can say that the Arc'teryx Sylan is one of the best trail running shoes I have ever worn. Arc'teryx deserves high praise for this model it is a technically refined, reliable, and High performance shoe.

[ I ’ ve been using the Cascadia 20 for a mix of trail runs and longer walks, mostly on wooded trails with packed dirt, loose gravel, roots, and a few rocky sections. I ’ ve also had them out after rain, which was useful because traction is one of the first things I notice with a trail shoe. The grip has been very reassuring so far. I didn ’ t feel like I had to shorten my stride every time I hit a damp rock or uneven patch, and the shoes stayed planted on climbs and descents. I also noticed how stable they felt when the trail got rutted or sloped. My feet weren ’ t moving around inside the shoes, but they still adapted well enough that I didn ’ t feel like I was wearing something overly stiff. What I like most is the balance between protection and comfort. There ’s enough cushioning that rocks and roots don ’ t beat up the bottoms of my feet, but it doesn ’ t have that overly soft, sinking feeling either. The upper feels secure and breathable, and the extra protection around the toe is something I appreciated more than I expected. They are a little more substantial than a lightweight trail shoe, so I probably wouldn ’ t pick them specifically for a short, fast run. For longer outings and mixed terrain, though, that extra structure makes sense. I haven ’ t put enough miles on them to comment on really long- term durability yet, but so far they ’ ve handled both wet and dry trails well and still feel solid.

[ I do 50/50 road and trail near me and put in about 50 miles on these before this review. These have been a great addition to my training regimen. These shoes have a ton of cushion in the sole and especially in the heel. I actually feel like they slightly changed my gait to reduce the stress in my heel strike, so it ’s helped me go a little further than my usual without feeling shin pain. Because in the cushion, rocky terrain feels pretty smooth. I ’ ve yet to actually feel a rock through this sole. The grip is medium depth, so fine for most things, but probably overkill for most of my road running. They are on the lighter weight, but wouldn ’ t call them super lights for road distance. [ I 've been wearing and running in the Brooks Cascadia 20 for about two weeks now and I ca n't rate them highly enough. From the second I had them on and laced they fit my feet like they were made for them. They offer cushion but also support. I 've been doing a lot of running on trails and on roads with gravel and the sneakers had no trouble handling either, even when the ground was wet. My feet felt stable on uneven ground which a lot of times is n't the case with shoes that have so much cushion. The cushion has some give but not so much that I feel off balance when walking. I 've noticed a big reduction in the amount of fatigue my feet feel after a longer than usual run. For a sneaker that feels so lightweight& bendable, it is surprisingly good for tough, rocky terrain that I was unsure they could handle, I did n't feel I had to really worry about coming down on a rock wrong and turning my foot or ankle. They are also extremely breathable, sure my feet get hot during and after a run but the sneakers do n't feel like they are sufficating them in any way. I do n't think I 'll be able to switch back to my previous sneakers after using these. They really are worth the hype and the cost.

This shoe is very high quality, there are lots of extra details added to make it more rugged and dependable in the outdoors. The traction is beefy and strong, I had no issues when heading up or down the mountain. I love the chunky look of the shoe, it is very modern and I am very pleased with the design. My feet locked in and I felt very confident and stable while hiking. They fit rue to size and have nice room in the toe box, did not feel cramped at all. The Zegama trail is just an amazing shoe and should 've been an ACG product from the start, I 'm just glad this new version is. I loved the Zegama I and the Zegama trails are a beautiful rendition. Comfort wise, the shoe is amazing. Starting with the upper, the shoe is breathable and the added ankle cuff just hugs perfectly and feels very secure. With socks, I did not notice any hot spots or blisters happening but I can see that occurring if you 're wearing no show( which I assume most trail runners/ hikers will not) with this shoe. The toe box feels wider but not to the point of needing to size down. I noticed that the extra width just makes the shoe more comfortable over uneven terrain. It allows your foot to really spread and remain planted. The midsole feels squishy but is not unstable. If you 've worn any of the recent running shoes by Nike that utilizes Zoom X technology then you know that pillow/ comfort feeling, its surprising at first to have such a springy/pillowy shoe but you get used to it quick. That experience is no different with this trail runner. What really impressed me with the Zegama is the vibram outsole. It just gives you so much traction, it's almost a nuisance to wear on regular concrete. It is n't raining in my city now but I 'm excited to try these out then. Overall, this is a great shoe. Buy with confidence and use them on the trails! 10/10.

[ Out of the box, I was intrigued by how lightweight this trail runner felt. In the past, my trail running shoes have felt a bit more heavy than the Brooks Cascadia 20. Eager to try them out, I slipped them on in the house and they almost felt glued to the floor due to the amount of grip the tread provides. I was impressed by the cushion as well and couldn ’ t wait to test them out on the trail the next day. The next morning, I awoke to a light rain and headed out to my local Florida trail comprised of mostly small sandy climbs and a few rocky sections. After my first mile in the rain, I was impressed by how dry the shoes kept my feet. The water wicked away quickly on the Gore- Tex outer material quite well. I experienced some heavy rain and mud, and this didn ’ t slow me down. Overall, my socks stayed dry and clean allowing me to continue for several more miles. Honestly, I might have developed blisters in another shoe not as waterproof and robust as the Brooks Cascadia 20. As far as performance goes in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions, the shoes did amazing. The grip is superb and I had no issues running through slick mud, slippery rocks, and sketchy wooden boardwalks. Typically, I have to hold back in these conditions, but the Brooks Cascadia 20 gave me confidence to push through at a steady pace. Not only did I maintain a steady pace, I was able to complete the 9 mile trail without noticing any discomfort. The cushion provided is quite supple but feels stiff enough not to impede your stride. Even when wet, I never felt as if my feet were sagging down

[ I have been loving the Brooks Cascadia 20 GTX! I run approximately 20 miles a week, 15 or more of which are on trail. With daily afternoon showers keeping the trails muddy, these have become my new go to shoes. The GoreTex keeps my feet dry in rain and when splashing through creeks and puddles, but they are still breathable. They are shaping up to be an all season shoe when the trail gets sloppy. In addition to the waterproofing, the Cascadia 20s provide the comfort I ’ ve become to expect out of Brooks. [ I ’ ve been running in the Cascadia 20 GTX on multiple rainy days on the trail and they ’ ve performed amazingly well. I LOVE THESE SNEAKERS! The GORE- TEX keeps my feet dry through wet grass, mud, light rain, and shallow stream crossings. In really heavy prolonged rain a little water can eventually sneak in around the collar, but overall they stay comfortable and don ’ t get soggy. The Vibram sole is extra grippy and the aggressive tread gives a really secure purchase, even on wet rocks, slippery roots, and uneven terrain. I feel confident without slipping. In deep sticky mud the shallower lugs can pack up a bit, but for normal wet trail conditions the grip is excellent. I ’ ve never had a running shoe with this much cushion. The foam absorbs impact really well and I love that I don ’ t feel hard rocks under my feet, though I do lose a bit of feedback from the trail. After long runs my feet don ’ t feel tired and look forward to going longer in them. Overall these have become my go to for wet weather and all conditions trail runs. I needed some hiking shoes to hike North Cascades National Park in Seattle. Never had hiking shoes before, but hated that they looked so clunky. I saw that trail running shoes work well for hikes as well and allow your feet to stay flexible. I saw these for sale and gave it a try. Wow. It genuinely provided so much support for hiking and light jogging. I hiked through brush, rocks, gravel, tree roots, grass, and other terrains. I did n't slip a single time and the shoes really cushioned each step. Safe to say, I would have been doomed with regular running shoes. After hiking a few days, the shoes still looked new! They were a bit dusty from the trail itself, though. Treads on the bottom looked new, did n't see any scratches or gouges, laces were not frayed. I got the Gore- Tex variant, so at the end of the hike, I walked into the shallow end of a lake and wiped them off, no water got in. I half- sized up. My regular shoe size is a 9, but I went 9. 5 because I wore thicker socks and appreciate the toe room during hiking as I do n't want my toes banging the front of the shoe. Feet also swell when hiking. All in all, I hiked around 20 miles on this trip as well as walking around city areas, so probably closer to 30 miles. I had no issues whatsoever and would recommend them. If Nike wants to sponsor me for this review, I 'm all ears because they 've won me over with these purposeful shoes.

Many decades of trail running and 2 prosthetic disks in my cervical spine... still doing 1, 500+ miles each year... very particular( likely obsessive) about midsole... also a stickler for stability, traction, and lock- down. This Heirro v9 is the best shoe I 've run in. Personally feel that there is not one midsole( rebound, impact, drop) that will be ideal for every runner due to variances in weight, foot strike, stride/ mechanics, terrain... but for me( 6', 160lbs, frequent 10%+ grade) this shoe is the best riding shoe I 've put miles on so far... outer sole seems more durable( better attached) than 2nd favorite NB More Trail V3 which is another great riding shoe... and less ground feel and rebound but more stable and long mile friendly ride than N# Zag.

First hard effort in these was an 11 mile trail race in the Adirondacks. Weight is superb and grip was more than adequate through a mix of singletrack, mud, roots and rock slick with humidity. I 'd last run this course in a pair of VJ Sparks and these were better in nearly every regard. Race went great. The fit is just a bit long and I did kick the toe a few times- if purchasing again I 'm 50- 50 staying with my size or going down a half. Only other change I 'd make is a millimeter or two more of foam- barely more, but these did feel a little bit harsh at low 5/min downhill miles. That said, they ARE race shoes. Great job Merrell.

After an initial 10 mile trail run, I took this bad boys out to Spartan Poconos outisde of Palmerton, PA. This was about 6. 5 miles with close to 3k ft of evelation gain, and some of the trails were extremely rocky. As long as the shoe laces were snug, they hugged my feet super well, even on the extremely steep downhills. They shed water like a champ, and honestly I do not see a single sign of wear. I was worried I would get a hole from all those rocks, but nothing. I 'll be taking them to an 18 mile trail in Washington state in two weeks and very much looking forward to it!
