Only used my helix 9 four times so far. The cursor sometimes jumps 3 or 4 contour when trying to follow the contour, then sometimes indexes smoothly about 1/2 contour line at a time the way it should. Today I checked the water temperature and my Helix said it was 188 degrees and changing rapidly in the range of 195 to 175 degrees!!! I 'd been on the water for about 3 hours. It eventually fixed itself and read 46. 7 degrees which was probably correct! Not too happy so far, we 'll see!?!?

In the last year I switched electronic brands and chose to put all Humminbirds in my boat. Personally I like the visibility of the screens better. It is easier for me to recognize fish when using down and side imaging. Without a doubt the screen is a huge improvement compared to the other brand I used to use.

The clarity on the flasher screen is so much better than a traditional flasher unit. It does have great separation capabilities. The lure charge function is really handy. Especially after my buddy dropped his lure charging flash light down the hole! I also like the automatic transducer angle selection of the unit. I must admit I would like an even wider transducer angle for shallow water applications. I do still have much to learn about this product. To that end, I do wish a detailed operations manual was included. I am looking forward to discovering its full capabilities and applications. The Helix 7 with GPS, Mega down imaging, and Mega side imaging has been a phenomenal addition to my kayak fishing. I no longer feel like I am fishing blindly in the winter when the fish go deep. The `` Mega '' provides extremely detailed views of submerged structure, bottom composition, vegetation, and identify fish well beyond what I imagined possible with this unit. The included Humminbird Basemaps have helped me navigate some of the larger lakes, and the autochart live feature has enabled me to create my own maps of the smaller local lakes I fish. This is a really solid basic unit, especially for seeing topography and water temperatures. It certainly does show fish and all of that good stuff but can ’ t really use it for targeting fish because once it shows up they ’ re behind the boat you ’ re not exactly sure how far back they may have swam away anyway, however, it is really good for targeting lots of biologic activity because that ’s where you catch the fish like where there ’s bait fish like swarms a fish. You can usually think they ’ ll be some larger fish there that you can target

This review is for the Hook reveal 5 splitshot with Inland maps. I love this unit so far! I just used it to fish for jumbo perch on open water. My transducer is mounted on back of the boat, so I anchor and then drop my jig near the back of the boat. I can see the fish come in to inspect the lure, I would almost always catch a fish once I saw one on the screen. I really love the detail and I 've been using pallette 13 split with downscan as recommended. from a few friends. Most recently, I used the unit to troll for walleye, it clearly marks suspended off the bottom and has made my fishing experience more enjoyable!

Went with the deeper instead of other fish finders because it is so easy to use for kayak and shore fishing. It is lightweight and portable. I do n't need to run wires or add another screen. I purchased this locator in May of this year. It was easy to install and worked out of the box. I installed a cut off switch between the battery cable and the positive line to make sure the GPS was not drawing power when not in use. This is the first Lowrance unit I owned that I did n't have to constantly make adjustments to get good readings. I can turn it on and concentrate on catching fish.

Received as a Christmas gift... Setup was very easy. Instructions were clear and simple. Hardest part was choosing a `` plan ''. Works as advertised in remote areas with zero cell service. I previously purchased the same Lee Fisher Wire Crab Traps last year and was impressed with the quality of the trap. The low profile of the trap allows me to transport several traps on the boat. In strong tidal areas, weight will need to be added to keep the trap from drifting away. I added a one piece formed rebar steel rod with tie straps to the bottom outer sides of the trap. I coated the rebar steel rod with a spray rubber coating to minimize salt water corrosion. This was the only modification I had to make to the traps other than adding the float and rope. A boat recently hit one of the crab traps and bent it like a pretzel. I straightened it out by hand and it looks like new again without any damage to the trap wire. Well made and catches crab is why I bought more.

This was the exact trap I was looking for. My grandfather was a waterman by trade and these were the traps he used. I 'm pleased mine has lasted over 18 months as the salt water is starting to gnaw at it. Yet, it comes coated to prolong its life. I 've caught so many crabs with this trap with many different sizes, but mainly the bigger ones as the trap is made to let the little ones go, which is fine by me. I live and trap on inlet water ways, so some fish sometimes wander inside the trap. I either clean them or will use them as bait. The bait cage is plenty big enough to house the chicken legs I use as bait. Great trap for the price. There is no need to go for more expensive ones....

I bought this primarily for catfish and toothy fishy as a way to get a good grip without getting poked. So far it works well and I 've had no issues with the quality. Largest fish it's had on was only about 3 pounds so far, so we 'll have to see if it can hold up to a monster. But I like that it floats, is simple to operate and does n't injure/harm the fish in any way.( I only catch and release regardless of species and size. So that's important to me.)

The first time I took it fishing, a small alligator grabbed my buddies lure. No problem I used the clamp to hold the gator while we freed him of the lure... luckily we got him back in the water quickly saving the gator, the lure, and all out fingers.

I have used mine on lakes, ponds and rivers. No issues, yeah it can take on some water just flip it upside down when you are home. I use a 34 and 55 pound thrust trolling motor on and a 106 amp hour battery. Don ’ t let the people complaining get in your head
