After a horrible experience with the migrating foam in the footbed of a previous leather- upper Merrell, this was a gamble... but so far it's been great. Incredible cushioning, great fit. A few unexplainable hard spots on the uppers noticeable only on steep side- hills. Now on to the desert sand.

I have purchased Merrell hiking shoes and boots for years and have never been disappointed. This is the first time I purchased this type of shoe and am extremely happy with the performance thus far. They fit well are light weight and made with quality materials. Time will tell how they perform overall.

Got these in low top. These are great! Coming off a pair of Moab 2 lows for hiking I feel these are a definite upgrade in looks and comfort. I think Merrell hit the nail on the head with the styling, I actually am tempted just to wear these as a daily without hiking in them, I do n't want to get them dirty! They look fantastic with jeans. Also note that these leather ones are more comfortable than the Speed 2 Goretex version... I tried on that pair and the cut outs for the ankle were higher and rubbed my ankle. There is no rubbing on these, however they are slightly heavier than the Speed 2 goretex. I imagine because this uses leather.

Merrills alway fit me well. For some reason the inside lining is usually the first part to wear out and I wish that part were sturdier but they fit so well I just go get another pair. In this case I got a pair in black and they could serve as dress shoes in a pinch. Ed

I 've been trying to find good 'intermediate' boots for snowshoeing for over a year. I bought several pairs and returned them all. These are exactly what I was looking for. They are waterproof, warm, and have stiff enough uppers for cinching down snowshoe bindings. They also have great tread and decent edging ability on hard, steep snow when not using snowshoes. They 're much lighter and less expensive than technical mountaineering boots, which were the only other good option I could find.

These are so comfy right out of the box. No break in needed. Took them for a 4 mile hike to collect Huckleberries on their first trip. Used my nice running shoes on a previous trip and my feet and knees hurt afterwards. With these I could go miles more with no issues.

I took my Moab Speed 2 to the Himalayas and it was the best experience walking with them. All the band aids I took just in case, came back unused. Loved the comfort, warmth, lightness and steadiness. The more I use them the more comfortable they get. My favorite boot of all times!

When selecting mid-height hiking boots, consider features such as waterproofing, breathability, and traction. A good mid-height boot should provide ankle support while allowing for flexibility. Look for durable materials that can withstand various terrains and weather conditions.
Mid-height hiking boots offer a balance between support and mobility, making them ideal for varied terrains. Unlike low boots, they provide additional ankle support, which can be beneficial for uneven ground. In contrast to high boots, mid-height options are generally lighter and more flexible, allowing for quicker movement.
Mid-height hiking boots are versatile and suitable for a range of activities, including day hikes, backpacking, and light trekking. They are designed to handle different terrains, from rocky paths to muddy trails. Their supportive design makes them a great choice for both casual hikers and more serious adventurers.
Mid-height hiking boots are typically made from a combination of synthetic materials, leather, and rubber. These materials provide durability, waterproofing, and breathability. Look for boots with a good balance of these materials to ensure comfort and performance during your hikes.
Waterproofing is crucial in mid-height hiking boots, especially if you plan to hike in wet or muddy conditions. A waterproof boot helps keep your feet dry and comfortable, which is essential for maintaining warmth and preventing blisters. Look for boots with quality waterproof membranes for optimal protection.
Comfort is key when selecting mid-height hiking boots, as you'll likely be wearing them for extended periods. Consider factors such as fit, cushioning, and arch support. It's important to try on boots with the socks you plan to wear and walk around to ensure they provide the right level of comfort and support for your feet.
