Bought the lure to augment an offshore trolling spread consisting of surface and near- surface lines. Fished the plug on 20- pound trolling outfit, with 12- foot 150- pound mono leader, run about 100 feet down the middle. The plug pulls hard when trolled at 7 to 8 knots, but digs down and swims well, even at that speed-- although anglers should be warned that at that speed, a 20 is about as light as you can go, as the lure will take line off the reel if anything less than 7 pounds of drag is used. Primary target for the lure was dolphin( mahi- mahi), which hit it well when not showing on the surface; the plug drew a strike from my largest mahi of the 2018 season.

Definitely my go to lure. If you just wan na catch a fish tie one of these on. Its small but VERY loud for a tiny lipless crankbait. Can cast really good even with a bait caster and is fairly aerodynamic, lands straight and belly down `` 99% '' of the time. I use this for both salt and fresh water. Ive caught panfish of many sizes along with bass, chain pickerel, crappie, white+ yellow perch, red drum, baby striper barely longer than the bait to 20+ inchers. Its just a fish catcher! Colors I mainly use for this are helsinki shad and blue chrome( pure personal opinion but Im sure all the colors work). Im trying the pink tiger next! Random: This was one of the first rapala lures Ive ever bought back in the day( Im only 18, lol) and it quickly became a lure I always had faith in. At a full ounce, and with it's cylindrical shape and One Knocker rattle system... This product casts farther than just about any topwater lure on the market... It also walks the dog as well if not better than the original Spook... It is very simple to start up and has a decently wide zig- zag pattern on a snap retrieve... HOWEVER, The Chug'n Spook was designed to have all the above properties like the Original Zara Spook with the added feature of being a spitting bait as well... Sadly it fails as a chugger... The mouth- cup is deep and appears as though it would throw alot of water... However it does not and I believe this is due to the width to depth ratio of the mouth- cup... That being said I do believe the deep- cupped mouth does however help improve the walking action and ease of use of this bait... The hooks and components are stout... The finish is as amazing as usual... and the overall make up of the bait feels solid and looks great... This is a great topwater lure for bass and other species of freshwater predator fish... As well as light saltwater duty for Reds, Snook, or Small Tarpon... Overall I love this lure... But mostly because of it's size and ability to walk... That being said I would definitely recommend it as an alternative to the Super Spook and other topwater baits... However if I want a walking bait that spits I will just use rod tip and retrieve techniques to walk another more traditional pencil shaped popper.

I would n't recommend you use it specifically to catch Jacks or Blues with it, because the construction of the lure is not made to handle the vicious, crushing bite those fish can put on a lure, but they are perfect for Sea Trout.

Having ran Millwood Lake Guide Service for over 22 years in sw Arkansas, I can tell you dont hit the lake without a plano box full of these in various colors for varying water conditions. Because our lake can change color in a matter of hours with high wind and thunderstorms, I prefer the 3/4 oz Rat- L- Trap in 3- 4 basic patterns. Silverado, aka, Millwood Magic, Red Shad, Toledo Gold, and the newer Zombie patterns are hands down, best there is. I always have 3 rods rigged up with 3/4 or 1/2 oz sizes, and in muddy conditions go up to the 1 oz size for increased racket and chatter. Have lost count of the thousands of Florida Bass here we have caught and released on Traps from Spring through Fall and into the Winter months. Do n't leave the boat ramp without a few of these Bass Magnets!!
