Wow. These are awesome. I ran my last half marathon in the Pegasus trail, and I was less than impressed. I went to the Wildhorse but felt those needed more cushioning. When I started doing road races in the vaporfly, I was really hoping that Nike would do some sort of vaporfly hybrid shoe for trails and I feel like this is it! I took it right out of the box on a 7 mile adventure, with about 2k feet of vert in the first 2 miles and then a downhill 3 mile run on a fire road, before hitting 2 miles on pavement. They performed superb. They are ultralite( 6. 5oz in my size) and have a super wide toebox, which is unlike most Nike products. This means that you ’ re not gon na get any pressure on your toenails and they ’ re not hitting up against the front of the shoe. They ’ re super breathable and the carbon fiber plate definitely gives you a little propel forward. I ’ m so excited that Nike finally got a contract with Vibram because the soles are incredibly grippy. I don ’ t know how this shoe would do on super technical terrain, considering it is a race shoe, so it ’s meant to be fast and agile. But I don ’ t know if it would protect you from kicking a rock or hitting a rock with anything near your ankle. You ’ re definitely gon na feel that. I ’ m all in for taking this on my next race and super excited to see how I perform in this shoe. I love that there ’s no break in time with Nike ever and I ’ m really happy to see that they have stepped it up with their trail running shoes. We needed this!

Use them as hiking and backpacking shoes, 3- 4 days of light use to break them in, than a 3 day backpacking trip with substantial load, few days later a SAR trip, and a day hike. Great shoes. No hot spots, great room for my wide feet and toes and nice support. I usually wear boots with my heavy pack so was pleasantly surprised. Seem little tight first through the middle of my feet first, especially around the top, but went away after couple days of light wear. Only issue is the loop on the back. Could be slightly bigger to allow a finger to go through, would allow shoes to be put on a lot easier.

I have been running for 56 years. I have seen the development of all shoes from all brands. For me, the Timp 5 is one of the best shoes I have ever used. It just feels like running. It feels like hitting the trails. I know other runners have had issues with the Timp series, but for me, this is just an excellent shoe.

I was so bummed when they put out several versions with that arch support. It seemed so antithetical to what the shoe was about and, obviously, rubbed my feet too much. The Trail Gloves have been one of my favorites from the beginning and I hope that they quit getting rid of the features that make them great. My requests would be: widen the toe box a bit more for some more natural flare, go back to a more aggressive tread. The current tread looks cool but it is shallow, wears down under the balls of your feet pretty quickly, and gets caked with mud much quicker( thus losing your traction). Under most conditions though these are top notch. I used them in a 35 mile adventure race in Bend, Oregon and they were the perfect shoe!

These shoes fit true to size and are amazingly comfortable. They are soft and squishy enough to survive 10- hour days working on concrete but also rock solid on runs and in the gym. When running, you 'll feel them propel you forward for the next step. I 'm also a bit of wide footer and these have plenty of room in the forefoot/toe area for me. Great shoes! My only complaint was a small part of the toe cap started to peel up after a few months of wearing them, but I was able to carefully super glue it back into place.

A wide fit would have been preferable, but fortunately the regular fit was just fine for my wide feet. They are actually the 2nd pair( color) of that model and my most comfortable shoes.

I really love these shoes. Brooks seem to have good quality that lasts. A pair I bought last year( Ghost) is still in great shape after consistent use. I decided to get new ones and I am glad I moved to this style( Cascadia 18). They are super comfortable. I think they will be my new go to. I will say they kind of seem to turn my foot a bit outwards but after walking in them they are very comfortable and my gait was good. I got the reddish( can ’ t remember the technical color name) and they are very bright and fun.

I have a couple of pairs of Merrell Mixmaster shoes. I have mostly worn them out having had them so long and I have wanted something from Merrell that was equally light. The Long Sky 2 shoes fit the bill. I do n't think they are quite as light but I think they may be a bit more rugged in construction. It takes getting used to the nature of the slip in bootie style shoe but they do cradle your feet well and give very good support and best of all they are very light and that equates to all day comfort.

Love the roomy width of the shoe. Love the firm support of the sole( I do n't like especially gushy shoes, like New Balance tend to be). Love their light weight. And, I have found them to be quite sturdy. The Long Sky 2 has all the important features you want-- properly anatomically designed, sturdy and light weight-- and none of the gimmicks.

Super light and responsive. Much different from other trail shoes on the market. Merrell has a great minimalist line up and I think this really adds to it. If you ’ re looking for something with more grip and pop than the trail gloves, or just something light and nimble that doesn ’ t feel clunky like other shoes, this will for sure be for you. Only minor complaint is that the heel feels like you ’ re slipping out at first, but I got used to it during the first run, didn ’ t have any issues with fit or comfort.
