At a full ounce, and with it's cylindrical shape and One Knocker rattle system... This product casts farther than just about any topwater lure on the market... It also walks the dog as well if not better than the original Spook... It is very simple to start up and has a decently wide zig- zag pattern on a snap retrieve... HOWEVER, The Chug'n Spook was designed to have all the above properties like the Original Zara Spook with the added feature of being a spitting bait as well... Sadly it fails as a chugger... The mouth- cup is deep and appears as though it would throw alot of water... However it does not and I believe this is due to the width to depth ratio of the mouth- cup... That being said I do believe the deep- cupped mouth does however help improve the walking action and ease of use of this bait... The hooks and components are stout... The finish is as amazing as usual... and the overall make up of the bait feels solid and looks great... This is a great topwater lure for bass and other species of freshwater predator fish... As well as light saltwater duty for Reds, Snook, or Small Tarpon... Overall I love this lure... But mostly because of it's size and ability to walk... That being said I would definitely recommend it as an alternative to the Super Spook and other topwater baits... However if I want a walking bait that spits I will just use rod tip and retrieve techniques to walk another more traditional pencil shaped popper.

I love this bait! All of the Heddon Jr. sized walking baits seems to be sweet spot in my area for largemouth. They will smash these baits! If you have good technique in using walking baits, then these are a must for your tackle box. I own several colors from black to bone, but the one I purchased from Dick's is the G- Finish Bullfrog. The Super Spook Jr in Florida Bass color is also a good one. My last time out using this bait, a 2. 5lber leaped out of the water for it as I was pulling it out for a recast! How cool is that!?!

Spook hard baits are a type of fishing lure designed to mimic the movement of prey on the water's surface. They typically feature a unique walking action that creates a disturbance, attracting predatory fish. These lures are effective in various fishing conditions, especially in shallow waters where fish are actively feeding.
Spook hard baits are usually made from durable materials such as plastic or wood, which contribute to their buoyancy and action in the water. The choice of material can affect the lure's weight, sound, and overall performance. Many spook baits also incorporate rattles or other sound-producing elements to enhance their attraction to fish.
Spook hard baits are particularly effective during warm weather when fish are feeding near the surface. They are commonly used in freshwater and saltwater environments, making them versatile for various species. Anglers often use these lures in areas with vegetation, around structures, or during low-light conditions for optimal results.
Choosing the right size of spook hard bait depends on the species you are targeting and the size of the baitfish in the area. Larger baits can attract bigger fish, while smaller baits may be more effective for targeting panfish or smaller species. It's often beneficial to match the size of the lure to the local forage to increase your chances of success.
Different styles of spook hard baits can vary in shape, action, and sound. Some may have a more pronounced walking action, while others might create a subtle surface disturbance. Additionally, variations in color patterns and finishes can influence their effectiveness in different water conditions and light levels.
