If you 're need is to do delicate footwork in steep or awkward terrain these are not the boots for you. But, if you 're spending a lot of time working outside in Wyoming in winter in snow, on ice, and in the very special kind of mud we have up here, they are stellar. I had a little break in period to soften up the ankles a little. They are warm, without heavy socks, even in sub- zero° F temps, comfy, 100% waterproof, and easy to clean. Sizing winter boots has been quite challenging. I wear a 10. 5 medium width athletic shoe/ 44. 5 cycling shoe. I tried many brands and sizes including LL Bean, KEEN, Columbia, Muck, and a few more. Boots like this can feel stiff so I prefer thicker wool socks for added cushion and insulation. An 11. 5 was snug but not too tight( like the 11) and gave me enough wiggle room in the toe box. When I finally got outdoors with them, I found them warm and comfortable walking around for more than two hours through slush and snow on trails and streets. They are quick to slip on and lace up, quick to unlace and slip off. I am very satisfied with them.

If you get the fit right, they do n't pull your socks down when you walk. Very good for walking unlink the tradition tall boots. Most importantly, they are the only boots that you can sit for a couple of hours in the winter with and your feet do n't get cold. These boots are exactly what I 've been looking for! I live in the Cascade Mountains and walk around town in the snow and ice every single day. So far, the traction, warmth, and waterproofing of these shoes has been elite. I have tested these out for hours out on icy and snowy sidewalks, trails, and roads with no issues. I have yet to use them for snowshoeing, but I am looking forward to that as well. They are extremely comfortable and cute, which is a bonus. I have received several compliments and I love the look of these boots. I did size up a half size! I hope these last me several seasons.

Where I live( Washington DC) we do n't get crazy amounts of snow, but we will have the occasional winter storm and get 6- 10 inches or so. I needed a boot to keep my feet warm and dry when I walk my dog, run errands, etc. But I did n't need super heavy duty boot to shovel snow in. I chose this because I liked that the shaft was n't too high, so I could still wear it with most of my pants. We just had a winter storm. The snow was deep enough that it covered my entire boot and yet they kept my feet SUPER warm and I did n't feel slippery when walking on ice. The waterproof material kept my feet dry, and they are also SUPER CUTE! I am a true 7. 5( according to the size chart; my feet are 24 cm), but I still ordered a size 8 based on reviews saying it ran small, and I think I made the right decision. I think if I ordered my exact size I would n't have room to wear thick socks.

The boots are great! Handled spring time in Colorado so raining, ice, sleet and then snow all in one day. I mucked horse stalls and had very warm feet while doing that chore. I was outside for 2 hours and my feet and calves didn ’ t get cold. I was able to walk uphill on ice and not slip. They are comfortable and require little “ break in ”. Great purchase.

This newer model has a wider footbed- which is great for more stability, and an improved sole which is a great redesign as well. My old ones are still going strong, but when this newer model went on sale I could n't resist.
