Seem to be waterproof and they are very comfortable. They do not squeak like my last pair of On so that is a big plug! Able to wear them traveling all day and be comfortable but they do make my feet sweat a lot. The green color is nice but impossible to keep clean. There is a mesh layer that dust and trail grime gets into and then you can ’ t get it out. I ’ ve scrubbed and soaked and they never come clean.

[ These are n't boots that you can take out of the box and go for a backpacking hike, they will need broke in first. When I first put these boots on they felt great, I went for a 2 mile hike and my feet were hurting. It took me about 10 miles, 2 per day, to get to where they felt good, now I love them. I bought this boot about a month ago to replace a previous model I had from Salomon. It was the closest to the Vaya. Feel is great overall, however the size is about 1/2 size too small. Have been wearing Targhee xx's for quite a few years. Obviously, they have worked great for me, and now my wife has a pair. I wear them year- around, on snow, ice, wet leaves, steep hillsides.... They are functionally waterproof- I wear low- profile `` walking shoes ''- not for serious stream crossing, but fine for tall wet crass ''. Only problem has been delamination and eventually leaking. Will see how the model for IV performs- just bought 3 pairs.

I wore them hiking through the local forest preserve with my dogs where there are all types of terrain, and these held up well. They were even easy to clean after getting a bit muddy, too.
