We use them for hunting, playing in the snow or anytime we have to be outside for long periods of time in the cold. When I go hunting and it's super cold or wind chill of- 15. I wear mine, my husband's and my under armour sweat pants under my hunting bibs. No need for a heater at all. 4. 0 is the best base layer for the price. My kids are competitive skiers in the Northeast. Our winters are harsh and with windchill the temperatures can drop below zero. Interesting to see the various issues around clumped filling. I 've used this jacket around the globe in various environments so it's had plenty of washes. I 've never experienced the clumping issues. I wash it separately shake it out and hang to dry. When dry I give it another shake and off we go. No clumping, no gaps, no issues.

I chose the Latt over the X- Latt as the finish and fit felt better. Yes it ’s a bit more heavy in weight but I liked the bulk and the finish is more matte. I hope not to have the clumping issues. [ I could n't wait to wear this jacket once the weather got cooler in Texas. The weather can be bipolar very often, so if it's 35 degrees outside at the beginning of the day and hot later, I like the fact that I can carry a lightweight jacket around and stuff it in my backpack when I 'm not wearing it. Unlike some puff jackets, they can be very heavy and bulky. The jacket is ideal for 35+ degree weather or a little under if you layer well underneath. Also, keep in mind my 35- degree weather may feel warmer to others who live in areas that get lots of snow and wind. I have n't had the chance to wash it, but the material seems like it will hold up well in a normal wash cycle. I think I may have needed to go to a smaller size, I had plenty of space in the jacket zipped.

I ended up going with my normal size of XS after trying the XS and S. I 'm 5' 1 '' and 109 lbs for reference. The size small fit more oversized but the arm sleeve were slightly too long. If you 're between sizes, I would size up. My main concern was how cropped it might be and both jackets ended up hitting my waist at about the same spot so I went with the smaller size for the better arm and shoulder fit.

I really like that the powder skirt is removable to get rib of the added bulk. I wish there was an outer chest pocket. The wrist cuffs are a bit bulky. As I was out shoveling, I discovered the designer winter coat I bought from a big department store was NOT waterproof. Unfortunately, I weigh 274, so finding a coat is n't easy. After researching, I decided to try this one even though it is over$ 300. It fits great( it is n't loose, but it is comfortable and I can sit with it zipped)! It also is not puffy, so there is no added bulk. The sleeves are nice in that they are not too short and I can tighten them at the wrist with the Velcro.
