They are noticeably sharper than hooks on any lure I 've purchased out of the package. Tying a knot can be challenging because the hooks are so sharp that you will constantly get poked. Tight finesse chatter, you 'll think your rod has been set to vibrate just like you do on your phone. I love this jighead( 3/8 oz) paired with a 3 '' Z- man Minnowz. I 've caught several good fish using this combo with the largest being a 21 '' reservoir striper and have never had a problem with the hook. You can simply chuck and wind this combo but I prefer to vary my retrieve and even just kill it every now and again to trigger a bite.

I use these lures in various sizes to troll for striped bass in the Chesapeake and they work very well. I use them in different sizes depending on the depth of the water, but the swimming action and rattle make are great for enticing fish to bite. They also have a good erratic action when cast and twitched on a slack line, which causes reaction strikes.

I bought this specific color( pilchard) to mimic the greenies and they worked great. I was fishing for Spanish mackerel at Sebastian Inlet and casting next to people using Gotcha lures, silver spoons, and jigs and I was easily outfishing them. I was casting into the breeze and was still getting a decent distance thanks to the casting weights inside the X- Rap. I would recommend the X- Rap for anyone fishing for Spanish mackerel. In my experience, it also catches plenty of bluefish, but I would recommend changing the hooks out to 4X hooks. The hooks that come with the lure tends to bend too easily from the violent head shaking bluefish tend to do.
