This time of the year, being summer time the water temps are high... the 6XD crank bait gets down to the right thermal climb where the fish are suspended.. the floating feature is a plus.. crank then stop.. bass hit alot of times as the crank bait starts to float up... long casts are reqired to get the lure down deep.. also fluorocarbin line is a must.. also good to troll with.. bouncing off the bottom works also.

I 've been catching large mouth and spotted bass with this lure all winter. The gizzard shad and the sexy shad are my go to colors. Throw it across a rocky point in about 10- 15' of water and slowly crank it across the bottom. Make sure you bounce it off the rocks and hold on. The bass crush it. I will always use the 6XD or the 5XD. Strike King makes the best crank baits i 've ever used.

I got the color closest to our natural crawfish. Bass really inhale this lure. Dives deep enough and works well around docks as long as there is a reasonably clean bottom. Did not have to tune this lure as it runs straight right out of the box. Retrieve and pause works the best. Most hits on when the lure is stopped.

I have doing well on rainbow trout with the CD- 1& CD- 5 silver( Cant seem to find the CD- 3 ever). I prefer the CountDown( sinking) over the original( floating) models. Floating models are too light to cast well. The CD- 1 really seem to work well for trout, simulate minnows the trout feed on. Nice slow retrieve. They will ignore one size totally and then hit on a different size lure minutes apart so keep a couple different sizes and try until you find the one they want. Work for Bass as well.

Hey these are good lures! How I know? First time I used it I hooked an absolute monster bass in a heavily fished area of a heavily fished lake, a rare occurrence. Kind of a nice thumping action on retrieve, good moves as a jerkbait, excellent finish, not surprised at all it attracts the monsters. Only negative is easy to snag getting it down into below surface brush.

picked up a couple of these lures the other day, they are unbelievable. caught 4 stripers( 1 40 pounder) all on the sp minnows. I saw what baitfish were running and matched the lure to the baitfish. the stripers went crazy for it. they hit it so hard. i would defenitely reccomend it.

I own a number of strike king lipless crank baits. And have had moderate success with them. This was my first purchase of one with the tungsten 2- tap. On my first boating trip of the year. The bite was slow on the Reservoir. The strike king 2- tap in the chili craw pattern got my only bite of the day. A Maryland PB smallmouth. Though it was only 1 fish. I have been using these lures for over 5yrs now and I have caught just about every species of fish that's in Lake Erie on these lures. I would highly recommend these lures to anyone that's serious about walleye fishing. I saw that someone had mentioned the back hooks pulling out of the lures. I have never experienced this and I have caught walleyes in the 12lb. Range and also lakers that have been 20+ lbs and never had a fish pull the hooks out of the lure.

I had n't been fishing in about thirty years, and upon a recommendation on the internet, I purchased a couple of Sonar 433's. One `` fluorescent green '' and the other in `` perch. '' I fished off a pier at Put- in- Bay, OH in Lake Erie. I 'd never caught anything on an artificial bait or lure in my previous fishing years. I varied my retrieves and using a steady retrieve I started getting hits. In two hours I landed 6- 8 sheepshead( not a glamor fish, I know, but fun after 30 years away!), a white bass and a couple smallmouth( one threw the hook in the water though.) I was quite pleased, and with clear water at my location I could see the action. I liked it and obviously so did the fish. I 'll have to by a new fluorescent green one, though, as my line broke at the not while bringing one fish in. The fish swam off with the lure still in its mouth. Some lucky fisherman will get a lure.

I had n't been fishing in about thirty years- since my mid- Twenties. I had two of these on the recommendation of someone in a forum so where on the web. I had never caught anything on an artificial bait or lure, but as I was on a vacation and could n't carry much, those were what I had to work with. I found a pier at Put- I Need- Bay, Ohio( western Lake Erie) and attached one of the chartreuse Sonar 431's I bought for the trip. I thought I felt a strike, but chalked it up to wishful thinking.

As the name implies, I 've had some really good success with this lure by letting it settle to the bottom and then rippin' it and letting it fall to near the bottom before rippin' it again. I 've caught muskie, pike, walleye, smallmouth and largemouth bass on it. The walleye and smallmouth seem to like it the best. I have n't narrowed it down to one color either, mostly just the retrieve method. They are worth trying.
