I bought a couple of these for running and hiking in the humid SE summer. They have performed perfectly for that purpose and are great when paired with the super comfy Astro Shorts. I also wear a couple of Patagonia Capilene Lightweight short sleeve shirts, and I would put the Echo up against the Capilene; they are very similar in terms of fit, performance and weight. The Echo comes just a tad further below my waist line than the Capilene. Fit is great. I am 5'10 '' 165 and the medium is perfect.

I picked this up in preparation for a trip to Scotland at the tail end of the winter season. Temperatures averaged 28- 40 degrees Fahrenheit with strong winds and light rain being common. This garment worked extremely well over top of a cheap polyester base layer and often only needed a rain jacket to help protect against the wind when out hiking. Fits true to size, I 'm 6' 2 '' 185, size large fits perfect. The material is comfortable, breathes well, and is durable so far. I used to be a short sleeve purist on my rides, but this material is breathable enough that I do n't get hot wearing it on sunny days. Plus the long sleeves protect my arms from the sun and branches along narrow trails. The only disadvantage is it `` holds the stink '' but that is typical for synthetic materials.

The Freewheel Short Sleeve Jersey is more like a daily driver shirt over a traditional jersey. You can wear it daily for day to day tasks then hit the trail after work. The material is similar to other Outdoor Research shirts in the 2024 clothing catalog. I took the shirt for weekly rides on local trail heads in MD in spring and on the Santos Trails in FL on a work trip. The stretch is nice when you catch a sticker bush and length is nice if you have a long torso. The only con in my opinion is that a bring color would be nice for hunting seasons. I currently have the blue shirt and it looks good.

[ On a whim, I picked up a Canyon SS prior to hiking into Havasu Falls on the Havasupai reservation. We hiked into the falls in early July, with daily average temperatures in the low triple digits. I found this shirt to be extremely comfortable, fast- drying, and quick to vent off excess heat. With a large pack on my back for the 12- mile hike, even with the Arizona sun bearing down on us, I never felt uncomfortably warm or overly soaked in sweat. The shirt managed to wick away and evaporate off the moisture at a steady, appreciated rate. Upon reaching the falls, I gave the shirt a quick rinse off in the creek and after half an hour of hang drying, the shirt was ready to be put through its paces once more. Seriously, as far as the intended function of this shirt is concerned, it performed beautifully. Plus, I find both the fit and appearance of the shirt to be really nice. I 've since placed an order for additional shirts. I really dig 'em. For the reviewer who found the shirt to hang onto odors, I did n't have that issue at all, and I used just the one Canyon shirt for the three days we spent at Havasu. And, I was with people who would have quickly pointed out that I stank. No problems with odor control.

It is as warm as any other merino baselayer I have used the only complaint that I could have with the product is that it is a bit rough and itchy compared to some of the other merino blend baselayers I have used. Love my On pullover. Fits really well and the material feels great. As with all On items they come at a little higher price point than other brands but sometimes it's worth paying more and I found that to be the case with this item.
